I’ll share. I sit next to
a guy at work that is the absolute sweetest father. He is probably in his late
50’s or early 60’s and his daughter is in her 20’s. She has some type of intellectual
disability that limits her ability to function independently. What gets me is
when I hear them on the phone. He is always cheering her on and is her biggest
advocate. Today he was telling her about how proud he is of her for taking the
bus and that he knows how hard that is for her and he is proud that she is so
brave. She calls him all the time and I’d imagine it would get overwhelming. You
can tell a lot of the time she is just calling to call, but he is so loving and
patient. I literally get choked up hearing in his voice how much love he has
for her.
@kgg2241 My heart Thank you for posting this thread. I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning and am looking forward to all of the heart warming stories to brighten my day.
@kgg2241 That is a true superstar parent. I truly believe we aren't given situations or people in our lives that we weren't meant for. Makes me want to be a better parent and more patient. Thanks for sharing
@kgg2241 aww, he sounds like a great dad. Stories like that are so encouraging, especially since you hear about so many parents who are indifferent at best and awful at worst. @duewithpu2 having a fenced in yard for your doggo is going to change your life!!! The best thing we ever did for our dog was install a fence when we lived in a house.
There have been some pretty awful headlines lately. An (old) story that always gets me feeling good is about Hachiko, a Japanese dog honored for his unwavering loyalty.
This week has been pretty damn rough, but we’re leaving for HI tomorrow morning!!!!
@duewithpu2, @kgg2241 Did you have to deal with your neighbors for your fencing? I felt a crapton of relief when our new fence finally went up but dealing with our neighbors for weeks beforehand was beyond sh*tty and stressful. We had 4 (!!) to deal with and two were rental properties.
@lillywonderland we are blessed to have good neighbors. One is a rental and their garage is actually on our property line so they are cool with everything, one also has a fence so they didn’t care, and since we only did part of the yard the 2 other neighbors don’t come into play. We got lucky for sure!
@lillywonderland So two out of the three neighbors were awesome to work with. For context, we replaced a crappy chain link fence with a nice wooden one. Our third neighbor was horrible. We tried 5 or 6 times to get a hold of the renters and owner. We even saw them drive in and walked over and they still didn't answer the door. So we just went ahead and installed the fence. Obviously they were mad, but we didn't ask them to help pay for it. Then they accused us of breaking their sprinkling system when we installed it, which I know isn't true. Just to make things easier, DH replaced all their sprinkler heads though. Oh and they also accused us of making their house look worse because now we have a nice fence around our house and they don't. UGH.
@kgg2241 all the warm fuzzy feels from your story!! @nomangos23 sorry you woke up on the wrong side of the bed I hope your day only gets better and better!! @duewithpu2 my dog is definitely jealous of your dog's newfound freedom!! @lillywonderland I hope you have the absolute best time in HI!!
@duewithpu2 We are installing our fence this weekend too! My parents are coming up to help, along with my brother and DH, so we should be able to get it done this weekend! We have a huge yard so it'll be a lot of work!
Another good thing is that my DH felt a little kick last night! He is so anxious to start feeling baby and he seems to be able to feel the big ones now!
I love this thread! No feel good stories really, but H and I did just get back from a day date (brunch and John Wick 3) and it was awesome! Quality time is so precious and sparse now that we have a child so we try to soak it up!

Our fence is finally being installed today!!! I’m so excited to go home and let my crazy dog run free
@nomangos23 it happens to the best of us. I hope your day starts looking up!
