Re: 2nd Trimester Check in - week of 5/6

    • How far along/EDD? 19 weeks/ Oct 2
    • How are you feeling this week? Feeling great - starting to feel bigger but I guess I should get used to that
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? Any good websites for maternity clothes? I ordered some things off a random site that popped up on my Instagram feed (they got me), the basic clothes were cute but the work pants were terrible and I need to return
    • Any upcoming appointments? Just had anatomy scan on Monday and baby looks perfect!! I am soo relieved, after dealing with IF and loss I have just been expecting bad news so braced myself. We even got to see him in 3d which was craaaazy. AND.... MY SCH IS GONE! I finally feel confident and going to make a pregnancy announcement!
    • GTKY: In honor of Baby Sussex' name being announced, have you started thinking of names yet? What are they? We had so many good girl's names, struggling with boys names. Top names so far are Shane, Ryan and Luke. DH loves Logan but one of my good friends name her son that so I keep trying to veto that one lol
    • Feel free to share a HDBD!!

  • @leilee101
I remember the month leading up to my anatomy scan --- I was basically frozen thinking about all the things that could go wrong. It's so hard to go through years of IF (for us 6 years!) and losses and then transition in "this should be a perfectly normal pregnancy".  We get soooo used to bad news. It's awesome that yours went great and the SCH is gone!!!

We announced around week 14 because our 10 year anniversary was that week so it seemed like a good time.

My top boys names were Richard, Alfred, James, Louis and Kenneth (if it had been a boy, I would have probably picked Kenneth). DH vetoed pretty much all of those XD

  • @leilee101 Feeling confident is a big deal, I'm really happy for you <3
I didn't buy any maternity clothes yet. Just bought several sporty t-shirts and shorts a size bigger than I used to wear. But on the other hand, I don't need civilian clothes for work, so it is a little easier choice for me.
    • How far along/EDD? 17+6/ Oct 11
    • How are you feeling this week? So far so good. I'm off this week, so just being a big lazy, no complaints
    • Rants/Raves? Questions? When did you guys start feeling your LO? Sometimes I think I feel something, but not sure exactly what it is. Maybe it is still too early and I'm confusing gas with movements.
    • Any upcoming appointments? I was supposed to have an appointment on Monday, but they literally just called and asked to reschedule for Wednesday. Oh well. I'll have u/s and first appt with my new OB. I'm just glad to get a permanent doc and not jump from one to another.
    • GTKY: In honor of Baby Sussex' name being announced, have you started thinking of names yet? What are they? We actually came up with a name - Ivan.
    • Feel free to share a HDBD!! I'll wait till it is more definitive :D Right now I just look fat lol

  • @dukie001 Ivan is a good one! I started feeling what I'm pretty sure has been baby between 17 and 18, so exactly where you are. It kind of feels like little muscle spasms or gas, but just in the uterus area where I usually don't feel gas so pretty sure it's him.

  • @leilee101 i used motherhood maternity / destination maternity for most of my stuff. i think they are in some malls so you can go try stuff on. they had a back wall full of work slacks... bought a couple in black and grey and they mostly lasted the entirety of my pregnancy -- by the end, my thighs were filling out the pants and made them ride up. target was actually pretty good too b/c they have a maternity section -- got some tops and stretchy pants from them.  old navy had good jeans selection (online only).   i mostly needed work clothes, so tried to get decent stretchy blouses/tops to go with slacks and several nice dresses that could pass for work and night out.  if you can find the long maxi dresses with rusched sides, that's my top recommendation.  i think i found one at target and it's been the best most comfortable and versatile dress!

@dukie001 when you get your scan, be sure to ask where your placenta is located. i believe women with anterior placentas don't begin feeling movement until well past 20 weeks.  i didn't have an anterior placenta, but i remember not really being sure about movement until about 21-22 weeks.  it's my first, so that may have had something to do with it.  the other thing that's been interesting is that the type of movements or the way they feel changes over the course of pregnancy. i guess the "flutters" is pretty true in the beginning... at some point, i thought they felt like little earthquakes/rumbles... other times, it was a jolt, and other times it was a roll. now late in pregnancy, it's just shifts/adjustments.

  • @leilee101 I have done most of my maternity cloths shopping at second hand stores... but target and old navy can be good. (my one challenge with old navy is sometimes the cloths are true to size and other times they can run big...  also something else to think about, is if your thinking about BF, if you can find something that is maternity AND nursing friendly then you may get way more use out of it... zulilly can have good maternity stuff too.

@dukie001 with the twins I started feeling movement at 15-16 weeks... with DD2 I didn't feel her till well into the third tri (I had an anterior placenta). With this one I have an anterior placenta again but I feel more... so I started feeling an occasional kick or roll around 17-18 weeks but it was super inconsistent and I could go days without feeling anything. I didn't start feeling more regular movement till maybe 24 weeks...

  • I finally started feeling my LO. Looks like there is a pattern, whenever I sit upright/when I drive he is becoming very active.
I had my OB appointment with new doctor. He is high risk doctor (maternal-fetal specialist) because I was complaining on uterus pains a lot. I do have normal pains like round ligament pain and gas pains, but those really don’t bother me. What concerns me is that sometimes I get these cramps in the uterus that coming and going and last for almost an hour at the time, it’s like my uterus is a rock.  During last appointment I had anatomy scan - my little man is doing good, no issues. My placenta is very close to cervix. The doctor said that 80-85% chance that as uterus grows, the placenta will move in the right place, but they will monitor it. They also addressed my pains. Those might be contractions, the doc said that as long as my cervix is closed and the right lengths then there is no problems and that a lot of women experience it. I’m of course scared. My friend had her cervix stitched up with similar symptoms. I’ll ask about this procedure on next appointment in two weeks.
