I think google doodles are getting out of hand. It was cute when they were an occasional thing for a big day, but the fact that there's one almost every day, for the randomest things I've never heard of? I don't think we need that.
Maybe this is half unpopular opinion (because I would never do it) and half I just don’t understand:
I saw a Facebook post earlier where a mom was ranting because she had been stood up twice meeting a lady to get breast milk so she could “increase her stockpiles before moving”. I legitimately do not understand using another mom’s breast milk... are there kids out there who cannot tolerate any kind of formula? It just seems like an incredibly personal thing to get from a stranger. I understand breast milk is ideal (when you control your diet and what you ingest).
I guess I’m more of a “take care of your own” than “it takes a village” kind of person ... maybe that’s the UO here.
@thirdtimesacharm2019 - I could see using breast milk from a milk bank for preemies or newborns, or maybe babies with health problems that could really benefit from all the great immune boosting benefits of breast milk (and yeah, I think there are kids out there with allergies that could make finding an appropriate formula difficult) if the mom was having a hard time with their supply or unable to produce their own milk. BUT - I think it’s really creepy to take milk straight from a stranger! Milk banks do a bunch of testing and pasteurize the milk, which would make me feel much better about using it than taking some from rando-Mom I found on social media!
@thirdtimesacharm2019 I used donor milk in the hospital twice for my daughter, but would not just go pick up random frozen milk from a stranger which I see all the time in local groups. If I had an oversupply I would also donate to a milk bank or the hospital, not just post my milk online for the taking.
maybe this is my FFTC... I have donated BM to a friend and to a stranger.... I have also used a small amount of donor milk with the twins (but it was from a friend)....

@wabash15 I have two friends that have previously donated to strangers. One of them is due at the same time as me. If she has extra again & I have issues, I will 100% take it from her (which I realize isn’t really a random person).
The best part of home made chocolate chip cookies, is the cookie part. Not the chocolate chips. The soft chewy cookie with only like...3 or 4 chocolate chips in it is the best!
Some babies with allergies can't tolerate formula of any kind. BUT as an allergy mom I would not trust that the breast milk of someone else was safe. It's HARD work keeping a fully allergen free diet and if your kid can't tolerate any formulas, that means they have multiple allergies to *staple foods* that most people eat without even knowing it bc they're ingredients in literally every packaged food. I wouldn't trust that the other person hadn't had a slip up or thought "meh, just a little bite can't hurt, right?"
Not sure if breast milk would be cheaper than some formulas, but that might be a factor for some families too. But I'd hope they could still get it from a reputable source.

Jumping off the UO @chillycanadian posted, it’s time you all learned something difficult and unpopular about me: I vastly prefer oatmeal raisin over chocolate chip cookies. If I get kicked off the BMB I understand. I don’t know why I’m the way I am.
When DD was a few months old, I had a friend of a friend that had a lot of frozen breast milk but couldn't use it because her son had a dairy allergy and she pumped and froze it before realizing. As I struggled to produce, I jumped at the opportunity to take it. I wouldn't take milk from a complete stranger, but if there is a trusted connection, I would do it again.
