Re: 3rd trimester check in | w/o April 22
i'm not really dreading any prep at this point, but am getting anxious about moving into the "window" and not really knowing when it'll happen. i guess i'm also worried about it not happening until the due date and then being really uncomfortable. i think it's because i'm supposed to keep teaching through the next three weeks when the semester ends and while I should easily make it, it's the unknown that's stressing me out. what week do people typically go on leave?

@bkatp I feel like MH isn’t really involved in the pregnancy itself - I don’t waste his time for prenatal OV unless it involves an US then I let him know and he will show for them. He does help with making arrangements at home for baby when I ask him to... he now does most household chores for me too when I ask him too like laundry, dishes, vacuuming, cleaning the bathroom - so I guess he’s involved with this pregnancy in other ways...
re: participating in pregnancy -- to what degree or with what things are you most referring to? i similarly only ask DH to come with me to the MFM scans, but not OB visits. I did ask him to come to child birth classes with me and he also did a "daddy bootcamp". i've kind of assigned him some big tasks (find a nanny; figure out will and trust) and have asked for his help with assembly / major spring cleaning. i think it's helping him get more "ready." i check in occasionally to see how he's doing emotionally since he's not a big sharer.
@mrsyng i'm upgrading from my 2door... but waiting on my husband to go to the car dealership with me. he says he needs to do some more "research" before committing. my girlfriends are ready to go with me b/c they think they are expert negotiators. i have too much social anxiety for purchasing a car, so I need someone!! be it my DH or my girlfriends. i assume that'll be one of these upcoming weekends so that I can get the car seat installed finally.
in other news, i found out my insurance doesn't cover the spectra s2. boo. the edgepark.com website mislead me and they don't actually cover pumps through my insurance. the only one offered is ameda finesse double electric. mediocre reviews on amazon. blergh. did any STM end up upgrading or will the free pump get the job done?

The maternity leave for me starts the day baby is born. I am wfh from May 1st though
Its possible the whole IF process has thrown him for a loop. That was def the case with my DH until about 6 months.
He hasn’t really helped with registry or shopping either, but I try to show him the things we got. I know if I asked him to participate more he would. I think if there’s something you really want him to do or participate in, just ask. I think they just process in their own ways. They may also think a lot of the planning is “woman’s stuff” so they don’t think or ask to be involved.

@bkatp - my husband is pretty involved. He has taken the lead on getting painting and organizing done. He works from home 3-4 days a week though so he has lots of time to do it. He doesn't come to the regular appointments but likes to go to the ultrasounds. Like yesterday I got home and he had put the swing together. I'm pretty lucky. He does so much stuff around the house while he's working from home so we don't have to spend our time off doing it. I think it makes him feel really useful
@mrsyng It didn't take long for us to upgrade my husbands car once baby was born. we were driving my car everywhere and putting all kinds of miles on it b/c I have a ford edge and it was bigger. By the time my son was 5 months old, he traded his sedan in for an explorer. I have back issues though so getting baby in and out of the lower car was not an option for me.

@northbeach3 with DD I worked until my due date. I laugh looking back at it because I was in NY at the time and had an hour bus ride each way and with each progressive day the bus driver (same one every day) would look at me and get more and more nervous that it would happen on his watch! But then she was 8 days late. With this one, I am working until the Friday before my Monday c-section, so 2 weeks from this Friday.
@bkatp as far as DH involvement, mine has been doing all the house stuff but that's only because with the placenta previa he kind of has to. Which has been great because I couldn't do it all! We have been very relaxed about nursery prep, I think because last time with our first we were hyperorganized and everything was perfectly sorted, and this time we are both like, eh, what do we REALLY need? And in truth, other than a car seat installed, and me ready to nurse, and some clean clothes for him and changing table ready, that's all you really need. Once I can lift and do ANYTHING again, I will get to do all the nesting stuff that I haven't been allowed to do, so that will be a real treat.
@Griffin5413 good to know that ur husband takes away the burden.
@babydust2507 don’t worry about the weight gain in second trimester. I didn’t gain anything at 1 appointment and at other I would gain enough for all 8 weeks.
My work gave me baby shower yesterday and I got lot of diapers and wipes. This weekend I plan to clear the storage area so I can put more stuff in storage
Have a great weekend y'all!
@northbeach3
My husband isn't a "sensitive" guy as he puts it and he was really hands-off on alot of the baby stuff during my pregnancy --- I think it just wasn't very real to him until baby arrived. He's been an AWESOME dad and support since delivery. I think it's sometimes harder for guys to feel like it's real until the baby's here since they're not the ones who are pregnant -- and then m/c and IF stuff can really make them put a guard up until baby arrives.

@Momifbysea - I feel like we have the same plan. I worked up until delivery day of my son (he came 3 weeks early though) but this time, my plan is to work until Friday before my Monday c-section. And I have been so much more relaxed this time about what I need. As long as I have diapers and stuff to feed her, everything else will work itself out. lol. Plus it will be summer time in AZ so even blankets aren't that big of a deal.
@northbeach3 - i'm not sure if there was ever a moment that I felt the baby drop. I definitely started feeling able to breath easier but it was a little more gradual. I think as they start to turn down to get ready for delivery is when you will start to feel a little more. I do remember that the week or so before I delivered, I felt AMAZING. I was in full nesting mode at work (we were smack dab in the middle of a house move so I couldn't nest there) and I had a lot more energy.
@bkatp - I also agree with @mbradfo2 about it becoming so much more real for guys after baby is here.
I had some sort of a stomach bug on Friday. man it wiped me out! I called my ob to make sure I didn't need to go to ER b/c I could not keep anything down. For a while I was worried this was going to be my life for the next few weeks and I really didn't know how I was going to last that long. I see my ob today so I am definitely going to be talking to her about my nausea. It's been worse this 3rd trimester than even in the first.

@Griffin5413, i have already asked and she said as long as my measurement are on track she doesn't see the need of an U/S that if everything continue to be the way it is right now I will probably not have anymore U/S
