Earliest you started wearing maternity clothes?

So I’m 9 weeks with my 5th and feel like I already need maternity clothes. I’m a pretty fit individual being in the Army, but I already have a bump 🙈. Being that I’m still really early into this pregnancy I’m hesitant to get anything. What was the earliest you started wearing maternity clothes?

Re: Earliest you started wearing maternity clothes?

  • Lol, I never put away my maternity jeans because they are so comfy and it took me 2 years to lose the baby weight from my first.

However, I am trying to hold out on the maternity shirts as long as possible because I feel like they’re so obvious and I’m not ready for the whole world to know.

  • Yeah, I’m worried someone’s going to ask me how far along I am and they’re going to think I’m big or crazy for wearing them so early lol
  • 👆🏻 That last comment lol that’s my worst fear right now. I’m 9w3d and have already been wearing maternity pants due to bloat plus they’re SO comfy.
  • Happened to me already. Some people at work already figured it out (9w5d). Oh well. Pants that are too tight on my abdomen make my nausea worse so I'd rather be comfy.
  • I'm 8 weeks and just bought some maternity bras and a swimsuit yesterday...my boobs have basically exploded and aren't fitting in my old bras/bikini tops, haha. Haven't needed anything else though. So far, pants still fit, and I usually wear flowy tops, so those still fit.
  • I never really stopped wearing some of the maternity shirts because I was trying to cover up the baby weight I never lost. Though most ot eh ones I bought last time were just regular shirts that were really flowy anyway, so it's been pretty easy to keep it up.
  • pjulia15  I would wear whatever feels most comfortable.   With my first pregnancy, I was really excited to get into maternity clothes and started wearing them right away even though I didn't show until 22 weeks.    With my second I started wearing them probably closer to 16 weeks when my regular clothes (pants in particular) were getting uncomfortable.

Currently I'm 10 weeks, 1 day and I'll probably go with my regular clothes until they get uncomfortable again but I'm thinking it'll be earlier than the last two pregnancies.

  • I wore maternity shorts last week because mine were too tight.  I had lost a good bit of weight since my last pregnancy, so I had a bunch of too large leggings that I am wearing now, since I can not button my jeans.
I am trying to avoid maternity shirts, since I am only 7 weeks, but my shirts are kind of tight around my lower belly/hips, so I might not have a choice.

I told my boss last week that I only had 2 pairs of scrubs that currently fit, so I may be doing business casual some days.
  • I pretty much lived in Old Navy Rockstar Jeggings which feel like maternity jeans... but I did bust out my other tried and true Gap preggo jeans because the blump is REAL. This is my 4th pregnancy (will be 3rd child) and I swear it gets earlier each pregnancy.

  • Baby number 3 here and I started at 6 weeks. I’m 7 weeks now and my belly looks like it looked when I was like 17 weeks with my first 😳. I’m fully in them.
  • Baby #3 and having been wearing maternity pants/leggings since week 7 (currently 9w). My normal pants are constricting my bloat and I couldn’t deal anymore 😂
  • I'm picking up my maternity clothes from a friend that had been borrowing them this weekend. I feel like this is the longest wait ever to get them, the bloat is real and my regular pants just don't fit anymore. 8 weeks today.

I’m at 10 weeks today, and I’ve started wearing my Gap maternity leggings with the high or rollover waist.  So comfy, but I do feel like I’m wearing PJs or exercise pants.  The legit maternity have yet to make their first appearance, but I don’t think it’ll be too long...bloated, water-retaining lady over here!  😂😛
  • 8w +3 today and I picked up some maternity clothes from one of my girlfriends. I put on a pair of the pants and I’m pretty sure they’re not coming off for at least the next 32 weeks. 😂
  • I gave in and am in full maternity clothes now.  None of my pants fit, except leggings, and even they are uncomfortable on my belly.  So I switched to maternity leggings.  But, any shirt I have that is long enough for leggings is too tight around my belly too.  I look far more pregnant than I am, so hoping people don’t ask when I am due!
  • @holly321 I wore an empire waist dress to my brothers graduation today. I was asked when I’m due and the look on people’s faces 😳 lol yes I know I’m large and I’m charge but I can’t stay in hiding

I plan on breaking out the pants very soon because my regular pants aren’t covering it anymore. They are tiiiigggghhhhtttt.

  • I went to Target today and got a few maternity basics.  I'm only 11.5 weeks, but so bloated and I was partial to skinny jeans before and that is just not happening these days!
  • I wore a ruched maternity shirt to work on Friday. I don’t think anyone could tell. Wore another maternity shirt today and it’s been glorious!!

The thrift store a couple blocks from my house had a huge sale on women's clothing today - $1.95/item! I got some really good scores and bought things with room in mind. No legit maternity yet.

5-6 weeks I have been in maternity pants (which I layer dresses and skirt over).
with my other two pregnancy I recall going out and buying bigger sizes regular clothes pretty early on

Ok, I'm 8w4d and got some maternity pants from a friend yesterday. Wearing some very soft modal maternity joggers today - it is heaven!

Also sorry if this is the wrong spot for this but Ella Bella is having a one day sale online today - 20% off with code VICTORIA (I don't know if that's just in Canada)
  • @blueskychicago12 the Ingrid & Isabel crossover panel maternity skinny jeans at Target are pretty amazing!

  • 11 weeks, finally got over my pride and went and picked up some dresses, pants, shorts, and leggings yesterday. I was hoping my only purchase until week 14 or so would've been the bras and swimsuit from a couple weeks ago, but these hips and hint of a baby bump have other plans.
  • I am 10 weeks and showing already (a few people have asked). I cleaned up my closet and put away a couple of clothes that won't be sparking any joy now that my belly has popped😶 Still wearing my loose dresses and leggings. I might go for maternity shopping when I hit second trimester. I never thought I would be looking evidently pregnant this early. This is my second pregnancy
  • Over 11 weeks- I can still button my pants but they are super tight and uncomfortable so finally busted out my belly band. Will probably start wearing my maternity pants once I tell everyone at work in a couple weeks.
  • @ladyoftulips Same! I'm 10 weeks of my second pregnancy and I'll admit that I didn't lose all the extra baby weight after my first, but my pants that used to fit are definitely noticeably tighter. We live with my in-laws so I don't want to start wearing the maternity pants until we've officially told them, but the plan is to still tell them 2 weeks from now. So I'm trying to be more strategic with shirts to help cover.
