DD2 woke up at 3:15... DH tried to get her back to sleep but by 3:45 was super frustrated so I got up with her. I got her back to sleep but she would only stay that way if I held her... So I've been awake since 3:15 and up since 3:45... WTF kid... sigh, bring on the caffine as thats the only way i'm going to function... oh and I have a grant proposal due in 2 days that I have not even started yet.... uggg

My baby is already trying to stress me out. He’s usually very active all day long with hard kicks. He’s been so quiet since Saturday and was barely (if even at all) moving today (or at least I could barely feel him). This is so unusual from his usual norm of a constant dance party in there. I was really getting worried that something was wrong so I messaged my midwife today and went in for a Doppler to check him out. Thankfully she said his heartbeat was great and he kicked while she was doing it (of course). I just don’t understand why he was so quiet. And of course he has now picked up a bit and has been more active and back to normal in the past 30 minutes. I was in the middle of a leadership class and had to leave half way through to go to the midwife. I’ve also scheduled an ultrasound for my next appointment because I need to see him and feel reassured that everything is fine before I fly to Canada.
Then I came home to my psycho dog whose separation anxiety has been off the charts bad in the past week. He has been scratching at the door but managed to scratch a part of his paw raw and sore so it is bleeding. I tried to clean it up and I’ve made a vet appointment for Wednesday for him because I’m worried it gets infected. 😩😩🤦🏽♀️ I start working in 3 weeks and he is to be alone again for a full day so I need to work on his anxiety again while I can.
Sooooo. On this Monday, both my babies (dog and human) are competing to see who can stress me out the most!
@AKuzReve Don't feel bad! It can be very scary when the movement slows way down or you can't feel it. But also, the busier you are the harder it is to feel and notice the smaller kicks!
@WinchesterGirl, thank you! I was trying so hard not to worry but after 2+ days of unusual activity (and I didn’t do much yesterday besides move from the bed to the couch) I started worrying. He must have just been facing the back or something and has now flipped back. I’m just so used to feeling him so often and have been for many weeks that it was so unusual. But at least now if it happens again, I’ll worry less? Maybe? Lol.
@akuzreve glad baby is doing OK I went to L&D at 36 weeks with my son bc I wasnt feeling him much. He HATED the monitor attached to my belly and immediately kicked and kicked until it was off 😂 I still felt better about going in to be safe, and the nurses agreed that is better to trust your "I need to check baby" instincts even if baby throws a dale party as soon as you start checking them

@AKuzReve - DD2 has been stressing me out, as well, with the exact same shit. She was nearly silent ALL weekend, BUT I have also noticed she is very similar to DD1 in that she prefers a routine and weekends are ANYTHING but routine. I took a little time out before bed last night and peeked in with my doppler and she was in her normal HB range and in her normal spot - and did her normal OMG-mom-why-are-you-bothering-me sidestep over to the middle of my pelvis when she noticed she was being doppler'd This morning she's back to her normal kicks and flips around the same times that she normally does, so I figure I was just extra active this weekend and she didn't have her normal "quiet" periods to start her dance parties.
I had a decent weekend and Mondays don't really bother me, but damn, if this one isn't trying. Thankfully, I get to leave at 2p to go to my 3p doctor's appointment. So yay! Thankfully, I'm in a decent frame of mind today (even though I think I only hit REM once after my midnight pee session - wtf preggo body, you need sleep!) that things that would've sent me rage-spiraling in my 1st trimester are just ... kinda rolling off my back. Hell, I even "let" DH go see The Avengers movie yesterday (3+ hrs) and I was happy to do so; DD1, furbaby, and I had a fabulous late morning/early afternoon together.

So DS2 started daycare today! He was so sad and kept saying, "Just take me home, mama. Just take me home with you." And of course he cried when H and I left (we did the first day together). So far he's had a good day though. I feel like it's the right choice but I am still sad for everything he has had to go through the past two weeks and none of it is his fault. It just sucks.
Also, my new boss keeps telling me how dilated his wife is he talks a lot but never asks questions about our team. I don't know if it's new jitters or if he's actually an ass. Time will tell.
We live on a main road and last year our stretch was under construction for 3ish months. They are putting in a new subdivision and laying all the stuff that goes along with that and apparently some contractors really screwed up. Well, they finally finished at the end of last summer and the road was not smooth enough to pass inspection so they are about to close it again. This means a detour almost every time I leave my house and DDs bus can not come.down our road to pick her up or drop her off. So I have to load both kids in the car every morning and afternoon to get DD to and from school. Super annoyed.
Also, DD (6) has not slept through the night for the past week and a half. She is up constantly through the night. Between that, pregnancy aches, pregnancy bladder and a nasty head cold I really miss sleep.

@AKuzReve - I'm like always the first to tell a mom "DON'T WORRY, it's okay," especially at this stage and not feeling as much movement, but let me tell you something - this weekend, while carrying my THIRD, I hadn't felt him move as much and I called DH in a straight up panic. It's just the mama bear thing. It never really goes away, you just learn to try and handle it a little better each time
@Allycat11 - DD1 has suddenly started having a rough time sleeping, too - she's waking up to pee, or just general waking and calling out for us, and it kills me. This usually coincides with a growth spurt for her, but OMG I'M SO TIRED.
I also panicked recently after noticing a decrease in movement. It was late afternoon and I told husband that if she didn’t kick it back into high gear that night at her usual time I would not be going to work the following morning but hightailing to go get her checked out. Fortunately she got right back to her usual antics...I think she heard me!
My MBF is that my road is washed out. We recently had some bad storms and flash flooding and it completely washed out my road....and it adds 15 mins to my morning commute to go the other way. I’m so mad. It just pisses me off morning and afternoon when I drive past my normal turnoff to get home.
Since we had the big bill to replace our water heater a few weeks ago, DH decided to save some cash in other ways. So instead of hiring a crew to edge our beds and spread new mulch, he had mulch delivered and is doing it all himself. That was two weeks ago...and I am soooo over it. I’m tired of this seemingly endless pile of mulch sitting on my driveway and I’m super tired of solo-parenting while he’s outside working during every daylight moment he’s not at his job. NEVER AGAIN.
@peachy0709 sorry to hear she is having a rough time sleeping, that is the worst. DD has always been a terrible sleeper, we actually decided to seek help for it a little over a year ago. She was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea and very low oxygen during sleep. Last year after adenotonsillectomy it dropped to moderate sleep apnea. Unfortunately she also suffers from insomnia so she wakes up because she stops breathing then can't fall back asleep. It does not help that she takes a medication during the day that decreases her appetite so she is starving when she wakes up at all hours of the night. Usually we get a couple good nights a week with her but not lately. Also, she does not even wake us all the time at night now but she has been needy the past couple weeks.

We sold our smaller truck that would not have fit a car seat and looked at a truck to buy the next day. It didn't work out unfortunately for the sellers. I think they were not expecting DH to be a diesel technician so he pointed out a major jerry rigged safety issue that I am sure they were hoping no one would notice. Kinda of sad because it drove very well and I would have been happy with it. People are crazy. I would never do that to anyone.
@jmesue1030 it really is awful for her. This kid got a pretty crummy luck of the draw with health problems. Her medical team suspects she has a connective tissue disorder causing the sleep apnea and numerous other issues but still no official diagnosis.
DS took forever to sleep through the night but once he started he became an awesome sleeper. He never fights bed time and once we put him down we do not hear from him for 12 hours. It is glorious.
Also, PSA: if your kid snores very loudly it is worth having a sleep study. DD has always snored like a freight train and had numerous other symptoms of sleep apnea but we ignored them because we did not know. We even joked about her snoring all the time without realizing it was actually a big red flag.

Mondayest frickin’ Monday ever... it’s 8:30pm and I left the house at 7:00 this morning:
- worked through lunch and stayed as late as I could to finish a huge project... didn’t finish because my computer/Excel could not handle the data files... and I’m an analyst... so you would think I would have a decent computer... meanwhile there’s a much newer computer in the vacant office next to mine that’s I've dropped multiple hints about. I think it’s “exchange time” - been home just long enough to pee, pick up DS1 and drive him across town to scouts - couldn’t cook dinner so we ate out... again - still waiting on DS1 to finish scouts so we can hopefully be home by 9:00 with kids in bed by 9:30
I’m so freakin exhausted and I need to go in early to finish the project.
Silver lining: found the baby a bunch of clothes for cheap at a local thrift store while killing time waiting on DS1.
Add to me to the “my baby is less active and freaking me out party.” We were out of town this weekend and I think I felt him maybe 3-4 times all weekend. Today has been better... what is it with these babies?!
@Allycat11 that sounds aweful! My DD has a tiny little snore occasionally but she is a pretty good sleeper. I hope your little one gets the rest she needs soon
I think my baby is moving for all y’alls babies 😂😂 it’s like a nonstop dance party in there. All seriousness if he slowed down I would freak out too. I feel like we have established a norm.
+1 to the freakout party. A week and a half ago I realized I hadn’t felt her all day. My bff brought me a coke (I hadn’t had caffeine all pregnancy) a king snickers bar, and a king Reese’s. She moved a little bit but not much. She must have been facing the back or something because I ran a 5k that night and must have bounced her around or something because she was back to her wiggly self after. But cue all the panics for a few hours.
@thirdtimesthecharm2019 and @Allycat11, that’s exactly why I got worried. I’m so used to that and he went from that to barely anything and then nothing on Monday morning. Our norm is that he is always moving. He continued his dance party at 2:30 PM and has not stopped since. I even woke up at 5 AM and he was living life in there.
@purplg8r, I think when I did barre, he must have flipped to the back because that’s when his movements quieted down and then once he saw the Doppler, he was all “chill mom, I’m here,” and flipped back.
@aecm once the twins come, he won't have a choice... his hands will be needed inside! (and like ours the yard may not be up to standards for a few years...)

This little guy is super active. Anytime I stop moving and at night I can't sleep comfortably because hes busy smashing my body parts between the mattress and his feet
@agpandme I LOVE how active this little girl is. But it can be quite disturbing when im trying to rest. That said, here lately it’s been cool to notice she sleeps through the night with me and then as soon as I start stirring in the morning I feel her start her little squirming.
I'm also super thankful that this one is more active during the day (when I'm able to sit still/rest long enough) than at night. I can't imagine being kept up by an overactive urinary system AND an active baby.

Okay I’m ragey right now. I don’t actually contribute on other forums but occasionally read some of the August mom threads. I was looking at what to expect and someone posted that she just lost her 6 month old God daughter to measles! And she caught it from an unvaccinated older child at her daycare. I’m just so irrationally angry about this whole situation right now. I’m not really looking to get into a vaccine debate, especially because luckily I think most all of us are like minded, but it just makes me so angry this is happening and that parents think they have the right to make decisions that effect other people’s children! We are all going to have vulnerable little ones soon and I’m terrified this is all going around. Ironically just last night DH and i decided that the baby and I won’t be able to go on a trip we had planned to take with him to NYC later this year because of the whole outbreak there.
This whole situation is just so wrong and I feel I need to punch someone in the face. Okay end rant.
@olivemomma - I’m right there with you being ragey with the whole measles outbreak. Thankfully we haven’t had a lot going on here in Indiana....yet. I need to check with DD’s preschool for next year to make sure they require vaccinations. I mean, my kid is fully vaccinated so whatever on that front, but the twins will be in there all the time during pick-up / drop-off and I don’t need some unvaccinated kid passing measles to my newborns, thank-you-very-much.
My (late) Monday bitch fest- I adore my husband, but we have culturally very different backgrounds. He was raised in a conservative Muslim household, and his parents immigrated from India in the 70's, so he's a first generation American. Because of these factors, he was raised completely ignorant of women's bodies and is essentially clueless about pregnancy.... I can tell that he has to shake his initial reactions of things being "gross" or "dirty" when it comes to the process. It just takes him a minute and I have to carefully explain things that are natural so he can see that it was just his upbringing that's making him react this way.
Anyway, he's oblivious to any and all pregnancy symptoms. I'm 26 weeks + 5 days today, and we were doing light yard work in the back yard last weekend. He was complaining that his back hurt, and I joked that he was a baby. He said something to the affect of "Well, YOU always complain of your back hurting lately!" YEAH! I'm 6 months pregnant doing yardwork...? It literally doesn't dawn on him that I'm experiencing ANY symptoms. I'm sure it doesn't help that I'm not showing traditionally with a big belly just yet (plus sized/first time mom). Another example- we were doing a full day of walking at a lower elevation than where we live, and my feet were ACHING and KILLING me. I pointed out that my feet were swollen and I needed a rest. He was genuinely clueless that swelling is a symptom.
I've bought him two Daddy To Be books to help explain the process in a fun way for him- he's not super into it. A girl's just looking for a little sympathy here!
@flagchic you have my sympathies. My DH was (1) raised orthodox jewish (2) attended all boys schools and (3) is one of 6 boys. So I feel like I'm constantly teaching him what woman are like. It's a little easier for me since I'm also orthodox jewish, so I know where he's coming from, but it's still weird sometimes.
@flagchic kudos to you for being patient, understanding of where he’s coming from and nicely communicating the things that were just left out of his upbringing. I have a lot of respect for you right now. I can imagine it must be very frustrating to have to explain things that seem so simple to you, like swollen feet etc, on top of the changes and hormone fluctuations we’re all managing. I have felt like my husband missed some things when it comes to this department due to being raised with all brothers but it’s nothing like that kind of cultural divide. Keep up the good work girl!
@flagchic - It is really interesting how upbringings do carry on into adulthood, and good on you for doing yardwork at this point! I'm starting to notice swelling, too, and I'm 100% ready to float on the whole 3rd trimester reasoning for getting out of everything. I didn't do this with DD1, but I'm *most definitely* doing it this go'round. There's WAY too many non-complaining supermoms out there and I feel I need to start early with reminding DH (who truly does a lot and is super awesome) what it's going to be like with a newborn. He sent me a message about being tired this morning and I was all like (this has been irritating me ALL of pregnancy) ...

@mrosek91 Wow, I imagine you guys have similar hills to climb when it comes to a conservative religious upbringing and things he must just not have been exposed to growing up.
@emqbee Thank you for such kind words! It wasn't something on my radar too much until I got pregnant, but the exposure levels were definitely prevalent after that. We just keep on trucking! Nothing love can't get us through
@MamaK225 I LOVE that Meme. We definitely should have the automatic upper hand when it comes to tapping out or getting to use the "pregnant and tired" card. I agree with you- it's good to know your limitations and not feel like you "have" to do everything that you did before just because somebody else who is pregnant can do it just fine. To each their own!
DH, who is allergic to all things baby prep, suggested yesterday that we spend some time working in the nursery today. He later found out he needed to meet the landlord at his studio regarding some HVAC issues. He left at 8:45 this morning and the technician is still there (5:15pm). Not only and I am super peeved we can’t work in the nursery, but the external kids are crawling the walls (and the weather is crap today)... and it’s the only day we both have off. Ugh. I know he can’t help it and I’m being a bit of a brat, but I’m more than a little pissed. It’s also his night to cook dinner as I do most of the cooking while he teaches evenings through the week. I’m thinking about grabbing a few cheap pizzas and taking them up there for dinner, but I needed to get this off my chest before I go crazy on him for being gone all freakin’ day. Thanks for listening.

We even joked about her snoring all the time without realizing it was actually a big red flag.

I think it’s “exchange time”
- been home just long enough to pee, pick up DS1 and drive him across town to scouts
- couldn’t cook dinner so we ate out... again
- still waiting on DS1 to finish scouts so we can hopefully be home by 9:00 with kids in bed by 9:30
I’m so freakin exhausted and I need to go in early to finish the project.
Silver lining: found the baby a bunch of clothes for cheap at a local thrift store while killing time waiting on DS1.
@Allycat11 that sounds aweful! My DD has a tiny little snore occasionally but she is a pretty good sleeper. I hope your little one gets the rest she needs soon

@purplg8r, I think when I did barre, he must have flipped to the back because that’s when his movements quieted down and then once he saw the Doppler, he was all “chill mom, I’m here,” and flipped back.

This whole situation is just so wrong and I feel I need to punch someone in the face. Okay end rant.
It's a little easier for me since I'm also orthodox jewish, so I know where he's coming from, but it's still weird sometimes.
