Re: Low AMH Level

  • @emmasemm wow that’s so exciting about your FET! excited for you 😀 I think we are doing estrogen priming. She didn’t say that term but she did say an LH lead in and I start estrace tomorrow as I just ovulated. I don’t have a meeting with the nurse for another ten days to talk my schedule. Sometimes the appointments make my head spin there’s so much going on. And I def want to be put under for retrieval as she wants to do a saline ultrasound and that sh*t was painful the last time I did it. The nurses are going to call around and see about the PGD costs but my insurance has said they’ll pay for 80% but for how many embryos I don’t know. @bakerstreetboys exciting for you too. I don’t think we can do fresh cycles because of the PGD. since this is my first round of IVF it’s mostly a bunch of unknowns as to how I’ll respond to anything. I suppose we’ll find out a lot... hopefully my FSH isn’t too crazy on CD3 so we can go ahead with it. Sigh! I haven’t even been in this game as long as you ladies!
  • @emmasemm Ooh, I'm so excited for you!  I totally get the rush of mixed emotions, it's a lot to process and you've gone through so much to get here!  Fx that the three weeks isn't too hard on your body.  I will be watching the boards for you :)

  • Hi everyone. Another question. My RE said we don’t need to do ICSI cuz of course my SOs morphology is great (at 50. Lordy Mother Nature is unfair). Anyway, is this something we should opt for? Does it result in better fertilization rates?
  • @lucyb1954 We didn't do ICSI with any of our cycles because H doesn't have any issues.  With all three rounds, we had great fertilization rates; our main issue is that we never got many eggs, but that was expected.  We trusted our RE's recommendation on it; having said that, we did sign the forms to allow ICSI if fertilization wasn't happening on its own.
  • @emmasemm!!!!!! YAAAY!!!!!!!! I’m so excited for you! And I know exactly how you feel!! I think we banked for about the same length of time and then I like went through more than 6 months of other delays with ERA’s and EFT’s, that crazy blood panel where they took like 35 vials of blood,
Lupron and all that jazz so I 100% understand how nerve wracking it is when you FINALLY get to this point...and now it’s time to transfer!   And you are right, there will be ups and downs and all arounds of emotions. But you’ve got this!  Enjoy this time before transfer is here:) I recommend lots of relaxation and meditation and all the positive affirmations you can muster to yourself:). I’m so happy that you have a solid plan and transfer is finally imminent!
    Me: Hashimoto Autoimune Disease
    Homozygous MTHFR Cr677
DOR - AMH  .27 High FSH (don't even know how high)
    2 iui's to start - BFN
    IVF 1 -3 made it do day 5!    2 5AA 1 6BB  PGS results =  all abnormal :(
IVF 2 - stimmed for 19 days. insanity. Had 5 follicles that looked mature but only 2 contained mature eggs the others were empty.  Nothing made it to day 5
IVF 3 - added in HGH - 4 mature follicles (had some empties again) 3 made it to day 5/6 for PGS (held for testing with next retrieval
IVF 4 - Upped my dosage for the first time - Canceled 11 days into sims - looked like 1 follicle and we were afraid it was empty
IVF 5 - Canceled -  looked like 1 follicle and we were afraid it was empty
IVF 6 - 3 mature, 2 fertalized 1 made it to day 5 and sent for PGS

Sent in IVF round 3 and 6 (4 embryos) for PGS testing and got 2 normal embryos!!!  1Boy and 1Girl. Took a little over a year to get those two embryos so demanded all sorts of test prior to attempting transfer. Did EFT, ERA and NK Cells testing.

FET#1 - Intralipid drips, Prednisone, and did a depot lupron shot before starting the FET protocol
    Chemical pregnancy
    FET#2 - PGS normal boy - BFN
Natural pregnancy - cycle following the FET2????   Miscarriage at 8 weeks.  viability scan had shown an enlarged yolk sac so I had been warned that it was likely not chromosonally normal :(

DEIVF cycle - picked a donor who is willing to be open! Her cycle resulted in in 4 PGS Normal embryos
    1st transfer - chemical pregnancy
    2nd transfer - success, May 17 2020 due date!

@lucyb1954 Fertilization rates are about the same between traditional IVF fertilization and using ICSI. I don't recall if it was on TB or maybe a video I had watched but for one couple, they did half their eggs with ICSI and the other half with the traditional method and I think only 1 or 2 eggs more fertilized from the ICSI group. So not a great deal more got fertilized. Unfortunately, it doesn't guarantee fertilization doing ICSI.

  • @lucyb1954 Good luck with your first IVF cycle! My DH has no issues with count or motility but they always had us opt for ICSI, mind you we never made it that far but I always wondered why since everything I had read indicated we didnt need to.
@emmasemm Amazing, so happy you will have the transfer soon!
@bakerstreetboys how are you doing and feeling? I am so sorry still trying to catch up on the thread as I hadnt logged in for awhile.
  • @Imajin99 How are you doing?  Any luck finding more info on DE here?  I thought there was a company that did it, but maybe they just bring them here from the US.  I hope you're doing ok.

AFM, I'm doing ok, thanks :)  Just trying not to get my hopes up too much.  We have an u/s today, but I won't really start to relax at all until we get our NIPT results back.  I think I'll go with Panorama this time because they can do it a week earlier than Harmony.

  • @bakerstreetboys How did the ultrasound go the other day? I know the fears but do try to enjoy this and really relax as much as you can.  As for us just going to try once or twice again next cycle before we move to DE, it worked with an IUI and I know chances are so slim but would like to give it one more shot.  Strongly believe in spirit babies and think our time will come.  Sending you a virtual hug to relax and to treat yourself, you deserve it.
  • @Imajin99 Thank you so much. I’m trying to relax but it’s tough. Ultimately I know that I can’t control things so I’m trying to enjoy the pregnancy. The ultrasound sound well so I’m trying to focus on that :)
I am hoping so hard that things work for you, in whichever way it takes. Your time will come, and it’s great that you’re staying positive. I know it’s hard. I will still be lurking this board to watch for you and the other ladies!
  • @bakerstreetboys keeping everything crossed for your the screening tests when they come up

@imajin99 how is your research going? If you didn’t find any options did you call up some of the US egg banks and ask them if they know of one dealing with Canada if they don’t themselves?

@hopefuljj I am sooooo hoping your donor had her appointment by now

@jamieh2000 loved your Easter and NIAW post. He is so gorgeous.

AFM - well nurse call is tomorrow to set out our calendar for the next 8-10 weeks or so! Yesterday was CD1, so if I O on schedule then it’s 3 weeks until we start the Lupron. Then another 3 weeks, wait for baseline, then 12-14 days until transfer! Well I hope that’s what her calendar will say anyhow!!!
We agreed with the doctor until baseline I should try to get as healthy as possible - so restarted the SCD last week and now in phase 1 and on probiotics. As per my RE I needed to use ones which would be safe all the way through in case we’re successful as he doesn’t want me changing them. I was pleased he was on board with using that system of nutrition and he was the one who requested me on the probiotics. Though finding lactose free ones with only the required bacteria strains was challenging!
Due to my RA if I exercise a lot then my inflammation increases so I have to be careful day to day - as too much inflammation is exactly what we are trying to avoid!
But these days exercise is not on my mind as AF is the first one after my polyps were removed and holy moly it’s like a sleeping devil has been awakened. I truly hope not every month will be like this from now on!
DH and I have been on “staycation” the last 1.5 weeks during which our entire back garden has been dug up, all trees and bushes (except my nice oak tree) have been removed, the base and edge for the new fence along one side is in place and they are ready to hopefully remove the existing terrace at the end of the week. DH has been working with a guy on it and I have been on coffee and food duty (and running to the DIY store to replace things that they break!). So that has kept us pretty busy. DH has 2 days off of rest now - whereas I’m back at work tomorrow and deep in budget review meetings...

    Back for # 2!
  • Well I have my FET calendar! (feels a bit surreal saying that)
A few minor tweaks but the overall timeline is fitting for a mid June transfer! (Subject to baseline and lining thickness of course...)
I’ve booked that week of transfer and the following one off work as we have decided to really give this transfer everything. Will need to find something to occupy me without stressing me and allowing for lots of gentle walks in between. Ideas on a postcard ;-)

My biggest open question at the moment is when to fly back after transfer... officially it’s no problem to fly back the same day or the one after, but some part of me doesn’t really fancy getting on a plane at all with the embryos on board... and I definitely don’t want to manhandling any luggage... but this will keep my brain occupied the next weeks as we wait to start Lupron!

  • @bakerstreetboys I was just following up on your past 6months, I took a break for a few months so have been out of the loop. Sorry for your loss and congratulations on your current pregnancy, I am very happy for you and wish you the best of luck! Our past year journey has been very similar so I can relate and you give me hope;)
  • @emmasemm so excited to hear you’re on track for June! That’s amazing! @bakerstreetboys I’m thinking of you and sending you all good prayers and juju for your pregnancy. Thanks everyone and @inthewoods23 for the ICSI info. And @Imajin99 also good wishes and prayers for your upcoming cycles! AFM I got my calendar. We are aiming for an egg retrieval in the first week of June IF all goes well. For the next three weeks all I do is stay on the estrace and try and be patient. I don’t know if it’s the estrace or just all this stuff but I’ve been feeling really down the last few days. Given my propensity for depression I feel a bit worried. My job also sucks so that doesn’t help but I really haven’t felt this blue in years despite a multitude of crappy things happening so I’m wondering if it’s the Estrace.
  • @lucyb1954 I created a June IVF thread if you wanna pop in there too. So far it's just me 😢 but estimated date for my ER is going to be around June 11th.

  • @lemondrop1976 Thank you :)  I'm sorry to hear that our stories are similar; it has been a very difficult year.  I hope that things work out for you as well.  I'm not quite ready to call this a success yet, but I'm starting to feel more hopeful.

I’m curious about the inflammation you get when you work out, this may sound silly but how can you tell? Like, do you have specific symptoms that come with the inflammation?

  • @hopefuljj hoping to hear you are making progress with the dono:disappointed:
How do I tell with inflammation? The affected joints swell and get warm and go rock hard. Rest in spoiler as it takes up a lot of space!
The first time it happened properly I was climbing a big tower with all climbing gear on for training at work and I climbed all the way up (30m!), did the pretend rescue of my colleague, went to unclip to start climbing down and my hands were like claws around the bars - I could not ungrip. I get it in my legs and shoulders and my feet too quite often if I do anything too physical. It’s worse in hot weather. It’s like my muscles and joints turn to stone. If I have one of those attacks then a few days later my CRP levels will be in the hundreds and then I have to up my meds and take a short course of steroids to bring it down. In the moment I have to rapidly cool the affected joint to get it to release. Similarly if I eat the wrong thing, my whole belly swells and goes rock hard. Like I’ve drunk cement and it’s hardened inside. A cool bath helps, but it takes a few days to be back to normal. With this SCD approach though I aim to prevent that happening.
Needless to say after transfer I will avoid any activity which could trigger any of these things - i won’t even carry my little 10kg carryon suitcase, or bags of shopping in from the car. Just in case.

@bakerstreetboys keeping everything crossed for you and hoping to hear a straightforward update from you soon

@lucyb1954 good luck with the baseline this week - make sure they not only check your afc, no cysts and no lead follicles, but also do a blood test for fsh and E2 - if fsh is over 10 (or E2 higher than 50) really think to ask them to postpone and add in estrogen priming.

@jamieh2000 i love seeing how your little man is growing!

    @imajin99 how are you doing?

AFM tonight is the first Lupron shot - and then our FET prep will have officially started!
And I’m already feeling like a bit of a basket case before I start any meds  :D
By the time transfer comes around it will be 1.5 years since our last one...

  • @emmasemm ugh, that sounds absolutely awful. I’m so sorry.  I have issues in my joints and hands but nothing like that yet.   I’m so sorry that you have to deal with that.  You are such an incredible force.   Mid June is going to be here in no time! When will you start meds for transfer?????
AFM The donor will be cycling in early June....transfer sometime in July.  Yikes. That’s all I have to say about that. Too scared to say more.

@Hopeful_mom hi!!! I have been so so so busy with work! I pulled a 20 hours day Saturday so looking forward to a loooong weekend next week!!

@lucyb1954 baseline is this week!! I know I replied in a different thread but my advice is to just feel your feelings and try to drink lots of water, eat lots of protein and get lots of sleep!!!!  Oh and self care self care!!

  • @bakerstreetboys Great news, I'm very happy for you!
  • @bakerstreetboys Very happy to hear!
@hopefuljj Wishing you lots of luck with the donor cycle, I may be turning to you soon for some advice but as of now I am taking some time off and will look at starting 1-2 cycles on my own, will give it till the end of this year and then move on to frozen donor egg.
@emmasemm How is the medication making you feel? When is the estimated date of your transfer? Looking forward to updates and hearing how it all goes.  Thanks for checking in, just taking a bit of a break for awhile until I decide when to try again and as of the end of the year will move to donor eggs.
@lucyb1954 How is the cycle coming along? did you have your baseline?
  • Hi everyone! So sweet for all the good wishes! I have my baseline ultrasound tomorrow morning and start stims on Thursday. @emmasemm thanks for the advice for tomorrow. They had that thought about my FSH levels so they started me on estrogen about a month ago. It sucks, I’m definitely more emotional on top of everything else but I think I’m getting through better than my SO. he tends to stuff his feelings so he can get a lot of anxiety. Yes to feeling your feelings! Great advice from @hopefuljj I watched all the videos about the shots today and feel a little nervous about it but probably more nervous about the baseline. Hopefully it can’t be worse than my last one where I had an AFC of 4.
  • I’m also thinking about everyone here and following the stories. It seems like there has been some good news lately! Donor cycling for @hopefuljj that is so exciting! And a transfer for @emmasemm and good preggo news from @bakerstreetboys. @Imajin99 how is the time off?
  • @lucyb1954 Sending you lots of follicle dust for the baseline tomorrow.  The injections can be fearsome in the beginning but after a few days you will be a pro, my DH laughed at how quickly I would just inject myself without blinking an eye and have taken it out with me for dinners and popped into restroom to inject myself. Time off is going okay part of me wants to restart but I know that I need a break and we want to travel a bit in july and can get started when I am back.
  • @Imajin99 it’s so hard not to get so anxious to get everything started during this process. The waiting is awful because we all wanted babies yesterday.
Anyway AFM i had some good news today. Went into baseline and saw 4 follies on one side and 8 on the other. Last time she saw only 1 on one side and 3 on the other so this gave me a small bit of hope.
  • @lucyb1954 wow what a great us!! Sending extra miracle dust ur way let them all continue to plump up and grow together!

@bakerstreetboys awesome news!! Let ur Lil one keep on growing strong and healthy!! Close to 2nd tri yay!!!!

@Imajin99 enjoy the time off and best of luck on the next cycle

@emmasemm it’s always something how scary what ur body goes through, glad you know how to deal with it!! And yes nothing heavy!! I really tried to be aware of things like that during pregnancy just to be careful as we waited so long to get there u just want it to go smoothly!! Glad ur getting this party started!!! So exciting!!!

@hopefuljj so glad things are progressing so just sending u luck and we keep moving in the right direction!! Hoping u can get these busy days over with before transfer! I did the same crazy as you!

AFM **trigger baby mentioned in spoiler
On my end things are nutty and I can’t believe my girl will be turning one soon! It went so fast! Feels like I was just giving birth to her! It’s a year yet I’m still just as achey when I was preggers, it’s always something....but wouldn’t change it for anything! She’s a feisty thing who’s crawling all over the place getting into everything!! I still stare at her in disbelief that she’s here, still!!  <3

@lucyb1954 Wow, those are great numbers!  Fx that the good news continues.  You'll get used to the injections quickly.  I even started looking forward to them because it made me feel like I was doing something!

  • I did feel kind of like a badass when I did it this morning, kinda like let’s get this party started! It really was not as bad as I imagined. My SO is squeamish so won’t be helping but that also makes me feel like a total winner for being able to do it.
  • Hi y’all. I’m on day 3 with stims and had some bloodwork done today. My doctor then upped my menopur dose based on those results... is this something I should be worried about or is that normal? 😬
  • Hi @lucyb1954 did they give you your follicle count and measurements? I wouldn’t be worried, I’ve seen loads of people have their medication raised after a scan. My doctor never did it but it felt weird to me because I often see it happen with others.   When is your next scan?

  • Hi @hopefuljj 🤓 had my first scan since starting stims six days ago. I’m on a min stim approach so I’m not a ton of meds but my follies aren’t super growing. The NP said not to worry too much because the min stim is a longer lead up but it was kind of disappointing. I’m currently on 225, 3 powders, of menopur and just finished a five day course of Clomid yesterday. Meh!
