GTKY: Body love

So I am possibly more guilty than most in suffering body image issues and hating myself these last few weeks, so started a new thread for loving your body.

You don't have to love everything all at once or everything at all - but what is something about your body you love?

  • @indulgentgypsy @hoodevil0611 I totally hear you on not loving my height when I was young  in 3rs grade we had to line up by height for a program. I was the third in line and the tallest girl by far. For some unknown reason, I was mortified by that. It wasn't until I began to discover myself in college that I came to appreciate my height. Now, I love it! I'm 5'11 and feel it's perfect!

I have a love/hate relationship with my hair. Its think and slightly curly, but I hate spending more than a few minutes on it. The last couple years, I have found a good routine that embraces my curls and requires little work in the morning. Its been a huge confidence boost!
  • Good thread to remind us of our beauty!

I love my my hair color! I’m naturally strawberry blonde and I’ve never dyed it. It’s gotten darker over the years, but I do get asked where I get my hair done a bunch.

I have naturally red lips too. I always get asked what lipstick I use, and I respond with chapstick!

I love my “hourglass figure” when I’m not pregnant. I’ve got hips, maybe not boobs, but I’ve got the hips!

My blue eyes have always been a feature I love. I’ve always wanted my kids to have blue eyes like mine too! So far, I’m 1/1!
  • +1 to loving my height (also 5'11"). Also eye shape, hair, hands and feet. Oh and the long legs:) I'm actually pretty happy with my physical self most of the time...when not pregnant. I'm glad this thread is here to remind me of that because I have been struggling a lot with body image this pregnancy.
  • ❤ I love that so many of us are 5'11 :)

I'm glad y'all are enjoying this.

I love my hands. I have strong hands with long fairly thin fingers - and no swelling in my hands this pregnancy!

I'm decently strong, and I build muscle fast when I work out. I noticed today in the 3 weeks I've been going to my exercise classes my butt has gotten quite a lovely lift and curve going all of a sudden.
  • Thanks for this thread! It's nice to have a chance to celebrate our physical selves apart from our baby bumps.
I like my height (5'5"), my eye color, my alto voice, and my hypermobility (being flexible and bendy is fun!).
  • I love my thighs! They're nearly impossible to squeeze into jeans, but I love how big and strong they are. In junior high I maxed out the leg press machine in gym class (365 pounds). I was 4'11" and 105 pounds at the time, so I got some interesting looks ;)
My butt is DH's favorite part of me. It's gained three inches this pregnancy and neither of us are complaining!
I love how fast I can sprint, which I'm pretty sure is thanks to my thighs and glutes. My legs just take over and I feel completely weightless. Sprinting is definitely not happening right now with this baby bump, which is also squashing my lungs :/
@indulgentgypsy I like my hands, too. I feel like they're just the right shape and size, and the nails grow really well. My mom was the first one to point out that I had really nice hands and thighs. I've had to put up with a lot of crazy from my mom, but one of her biggest positives is how she helped me appreciate my body growing up. :)
@pizzaplz I'm jealous of your flexibility! I'm as stiff as a board :p
  • I love my face. I like my eyes, my nose, my cheeks. The older I get, the more I love playing with makeup and color and finding ways to accent my eyes especially. They are a super super dark brown, darker than anyone else in my family.
  • Love this!
I love my hair, even though the red/strawberry blonde is getting darker as I age, I still love that it's my natural color. I get the most compliments on my hair.

I have a nice rack  :D my husband loves my boobs.

I also love my waist, even through different weight fluctuations it still remains the shape I want and gives me an hourglass figure.
  • What a great thread!
My first instinct is to say my eyes and my lips. I have GREEN eyes and secretly/not so secretly love how rare that is. I get compliments on them from strangers sometimes and I usually have a little chip on my shoulder about it for a while afterwards.
Like others I have full lips too, so full that I look ridiculous in lipstick in any color other than mauve so I rarely wear lip color. So, I tend to play up my features by accenting my eyes with makeup to tone down these lips even without lip color.

DH would definitely say my butt, I don't even need to ask him. I didn't realize there was anything special about mine until I was in my early 20s and a friend from high school told me my low rise jeans were the main reason he went to church on Sunday mornings, because my family always sat in front of his. I swear it was a sweet, not creepy thing to say even though reading that now it might seem otherwise! :)

My blue eyes are my favorite. It's the one feature I always get compliments on. Second, my legs. I have long legs for only being 5’6.
  • Wow y'all are tall!  I am 5'4" lol. I have great skin and hair. I've struggled with body image for basically ever, but the past few years I've been getting to a really good place and am now focused on body neutrality. I respect and appreciate my body but I don't need to love the way it looks all the time anymore. It's been really freeing for me to adopt this perspective <3
  • I'm annoyed with myself for how hard coming up with something is at this moment. I'm normally not like this.
    Blerg.
    So.
My hair is pretty awesome right now.
I'm enjoying my pregnancy boobs also. ;)

  • @erynpdx the arrival of the Titty Fairy is a beautiful day :)

I am jealous of all of you with wonderful hair :) the hair fairy did not visit this time around... well, I guess she did, before pregnancy I had issues with breakage due to the water issues in my previous village, and now my hair is better, it is just too short for me.
  • This is a good thread especially since I've been feeling down about my size lately... Before my son was born I was 135lbs 😵

Anyway! I was thinking while reading these posts there's not really anything I like about me. Then I remembered all the stuff I get comments on when I'm not pregnant. Like my eyes. People always ask what color are they? and say wow your eyes are just piercing! So that makes me feel good remembering that. My eyes are some middle color of grey green and blue and my sons are getting really light like mine so hopefully he gets the same comments!

And my teeth. This one really cool and nice older gentleman at church always is telling me to take care of my teeth because they are so straight and pretty. I had to get a molar out but you can't see it... I blame the baby lol

So thanks for making this thread 😍
Also everyone always says at church I have a firm handshake... Not sure if that's too masculine or better than floppy fish hand but whatever lol

@jasonsgirl92 I love when I meet another woman with a firm handshake. To me, that exudes confidence and power! As a woman who works in a competitive Male-dominated business, I've had to perfect the firm, confident handshake.
