April Appointments

Re: April Appointments

  • @millpe I couldn't imagine waiting until 20 weeks. Although, I wish I didn't need the follow-up US it is nice to see how baby is doing. I am pretty sure the only US I got with my first was at 20 weeks. It was so long ago (nearly 17 years) and I didn't know anything back then. Being pregnant and naive is a blissful combination.

  • @rae605 definitely mixed emotions, though I'm thrilled we have a thriving baby. Definitely anxious for Friday and will be happy to get that confirmation that things are still going good.
  • First appointment tomorrow morning. Feels like I’ve been waiting forever, but I’ll be at 9 weeks tomorrow, so it’s all a matter of perspective. I’m oddly nervous, though, because I’ve been feeling less nauseous overall (which is great) but those symptoms are reassuring for my PGAL brain.
  • Had my 2nd appt today and got to hear the heartbeat at 162 <3 Next appt I will get to see the bean and find out gender :)
  • Got to hear my sweet little babes heartbeat today at 160! My doctor also congratulated me on officially being in the second trimester ❤️ Today was music to my ears!!!
  • I had an appointment yesterday afternoon, just a doppler check and regular OB appointment. She couldn't get the greatest reading with the doppler for the HB, it was like from a distance, but you could hear it. We also discussed VBAC or RCS - she said my particular circumstances for why I had my CS, the success rate is about 60%. She calls that a "good chance" but that I need to be prepared for the same scenario to occur (failure to progress/failure for baby to descend). As of right now I'm going to try for the VBAC, but I'm already feeling a bit discouraged because I don't see the 60% as really great odds. I also am not supposed to labor at home for too long and should be monitored more closely, which I'm okay with. If I do not go into labor on my own they will not allow a VBAC attempt and will schedule a CS, which is okay with me too.
  • @creamcheeseplease that's great that she is willing to let you try for a vbac. I have had 4 full term vaginal births and every single one of them was different. So don't count yourself out.
  • @creamcheeseplease, that’s great they’ll let you give VBAC a go. I had similar circumstances with my daughter and my doc was a solid no when I asked. The hospital I plan to birth at is pretty strict about their VBAC policy and I don’t want to go to another hospital so I’m not going to appeal. I was disappointed at first, but feel like I already have a plan for November and that works for me.

  • @KateH1216 probably once we all get further along I’d like to start a VBAC/RCS thread. I’m definitely interested in hearing others stories. I was a bit surprised myself because I have heard many women with stories like mine who were not allowed to VBAC.
  • Hi! I had my first appointment with my OB nurse this morning and my blood pressure was a bit high. I’ve never had a high blood pressure reading before. I’m 10 weeks 6 days. Nerves? Stress? Morning sickness? Or something I should be concerned about? Any ideas?
