Re: Group 4 Check In (Aug 24-31) - W/O 04/21
Baby is the size of something I've never heard of haha
Team Green! Though I aaaaalmost gave in and asked the other day haha. I did order AS photos, and the request form warns that the photos may include gender. I'm hoping they don't. That would be so anticlimactic...
We have another OB appointment in just under 2 weeks. Last appointment we stopped the progesterone. Yay!(Though I weaned myself off instead of cold turkey). The OB said if things go well he MAY clear me for "intercourse". Hahaha DH turned SO red and I got all excited and started laughing haha. I'm getting more used to these terrible injections. But found out I'll be on them 10 weeks longer than OB initially said.
DH can't come to the next appointment. It's the first appointment he will miss with this pregnancy. I'm a little nervous because last time I was alone, I felt the Dr was... Dismissive and rude. So we will see if that was a 1 time thing or a sexism issue.
We also have an appointment to meet a doula this week. Hopefully I'm healthy by then.
I feel...like crap. But that's illness related, not pregnancy. Mostly. I had a glorious nap this afternoon and felt a little better after. DH said I looked less like a "sleep deprived vampire" and actually had some colour when I got up.
Loving my bump. Loving this tiny, perfect human dancing and kicking inside of me! I cried when I saw baby's femur on the US. What a weird thing to cry over! Haha
Rave: my amazing husband has been taking such good care of me. Cooking and cleaning, taking care of the dog, not making me feel guilty for lying on the couch like a blob. On top of studying and working. 2 nights ago, I (strangely) REALLY wanted him to play with my hair. So he brushed it for me. Which..is a first. I haven't had anyone other than a hairdresser brush my hair in.... 20+ years. It was amazing! Last night, he came, unprompted, and did it again 🥰.
Also, the weather has been amazing. Just wanted to share haha
Questions: anyone used sleep sacs before? I got one from baby box (a safe sleep online course thing). And it seems huge. I thought it was supposed to be for newborns, but it looks giant. How loose are they supposed to be?
GTKY: I feel like I haven't had any hobbies or extra curriculars in quite a while, but "historically" my favourite things have been: reading. Singing (spent... 15 years in choirs). And travel. The job makes organized singing impossible. Baby+ building a house means there won't be any travel in our near future. I can't understand why I haven't devoured 100 books in the past 4 months though... Something is wrong with me
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 22 weeks
Baby is the size of a(n): papaya
What team are you on (Blue, Pink, or Green): Blue!
Upcoming Appointments: May 6
How are you feeling?: Sick + allergy + pregnancy rhinitis sucks. I also didn’t drink enough water and woke up with a huge leg cramp yesterday morning but I drank so much all day yesterday and I was good last night. The pressure from baby is already crazy. Otherwise I am feeling decent!
Rants/Raves: I only have 4 weeks left of this semester which is crazy to me! These are my last 4 weeks of classes for my MBA. It’s already so hot here (been 22-25 all weekend), which concerns me about true summer with no a/c. We need to get an air cooler before they’re sold out. All things MIL considered, I had a great weekend seeing Germany and Luxembourg this weekend. I only have 1 more trip planned for this pregnancy and I am done travelling till October! I’ve been reading this book called Bringing Up Bébé and I really like it. It clicks so much with how I was raised and how I want to raise a child.
Questions:
GTKY: I (obviously) love travelling. I also love reading but I haven’t been able to do much of that while In my MBA. Maybe once baby is born! I used to be a dancer and now that I’m older, I love yoga and barre, which is why I still try to go. I’m also passionate about animals so I do a lot of animal rescue work.

Sleep wear personal experience: My son preferred a swaddle in the first couple months. Then after that we did sleep sacs but when he was mobile he HATED them bc he would get twisted and tangled in them plus he runs warm to begin with so he always slept better in just pjs. others I've known have used sleep sacs until their kid was 3 or they literally couldn't find one big enough.

Upcoming Appointments: next Monday for routine Doppler check.
How are you feeling?: Good
Rants/Raves: We're on day 3 of 8 of Passover and I love it. All holidays have their difficult parts, but it's so nice to be off and spend time with family.
Questions:
GTKY: What hobbies do you like to do or what do you do in free time (or what did you do in free time before you had kids/got busy with work and life so now don’t have time lol)? I love counted cross stitch embroidery, I used to be known for making monogrammed towels for all my friends and family when they got married. The running joke is I still owe my sister a pair, she got married 5 months after us, and I was in first trimester exhaustion... I also love to crochet and do jigsaw puzzles.
@chillycanadian as @BigBadWolf12 said the sleep sacks are made for a large age range so they can be a little big. (Mine are 0-9 months) FTM moment- I got them as a gift, and no one explained them to me, so I thought they were just PJs that were meant to make MOTN diaper changes easier. I used to put DS#1 down in just a onesie and a sleep sack for the night. The first time I saw my neice in PJs and a sleep sack I was like "that's what they're for?!" But honestly our house doesn't get that cold and they do make diaper changes much easier, so I did the same thing with DS#2. I stopped using them once the boys were active, I don't remember even trying, just knowing my boys they wouldn't have liked to be confined.
@chillycanadian - This may be a FFC, but we've never swaddled or used sleep sacs. Both our girls hated them and fought them like wild badgers. Maybe we'll try again with this kiddo, but honestly, I doubt it
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 22 w + 2 days / August 20 for RCS
Baby is the size of a(n): Coconut?
What team are you on (Blue, Pink, or Green): Blue
Upcoming Appointments: Not for awhile I think!
How are you feeling?: So stupidly tired. DH said something to me this weekend about how we'll have had 3 kids in 5 years (and I've BFed until 9 months with both), so I guess that all makes sense.
Rants/Raves: I don't really know what my parent's deal is, but I feel like they are becoming more and more worthless every time they come to help. And it's not an age thing - they just would rather be up at their home partying in their retirement than being actively involved in their grandchildren's life. It's ... disturbing.
GTKY: What hobbies do you like to do or what do you do in free time (or what did you do in free time before you had kids/got busy with work and life so now don’t have time lol)?: Reading (I use to be very involved in book clubs), and exercise (I was an avid runner before kids, but I don't run anymore. STM+ will understand why) - hoping to really get back into yoga and pilates after my RCS recovery.
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 8/24, 22+2
Baby is the size of a(n): coconuts
What team are you on (Blue, Pink, or Green): Blue x2
Upcoming Appointments: in May
How are you feeling?: ugh. Sore (SPD stinks), a bit swollen, heartburn has started...and I’m just big (probably measuring about 30 weeks). DD got a cold, and now I’m coming down with it. Oh, and my arms got sunburnt while sitting outside yesterday.
Rants/Raves: I wish my family lived close to us. My parents are retired and it would be nice to be able to call up my mom to come over and help take care of DD on days like today when I’m under the weather.
GTKY: What hobbies do you like to do or what do you do in free time (or what did you do in free time before you had kids/got busy with work and life so now don’t have time lol)? I love reading - just don’t get a ton of time for it anymore. I love cross-stitch too, @mrosek91! Before having a kid I really enjoyed gardening, but it’s become pretty hard to do much without childcare help. I also try to make it to yoga once a week - I’ve switched over to the pre-natal variety at the moment!
@chillycanadian Yes, sleep sacks are usually larger, since they go over PJs and are usually sized to fit for several months. We used the Halo brand, and got the swaddle variety for the newborn size that has Velcro “wings” that wrap around the baby. That way the width doesn’t really matter, and length isn’t important b/c newborns don’t move a bunch when they sleep.
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 22w2d
Baby is the size of a(n): box of Kraft mac and cheese
What team are you on (Blue, Pink, or Green): green
Upcoming Appointments: regular ob check next week
How are you feeling?: still nauseous, sore, dizzy a lot of the time. Lacking motivation due to all of the above. At this point I am planning on all of tjat sticking around until delivery.
Rants/Raves: Rant: I am sick of feeling like crap all the time. Rave: I am loving feeling movement constantly. This baby is very active, DD was too, DS not so much
Questions:
GTKY: What hobbies do you like to do or what do you do in free time (or what did you do in free time before you had kids/got busy with work and life so now don’t have time lol)? I love to travel and do so whenever I can. Budget, time and kids prevent me from doing as much as I would like. Before kids I was very into golf, even golfed competitively for my country club and high school. Now I just never really have the time for it. I feel bad saying I really do nit have hobbies at the moment. Most of my time is taken up by taking care of my family but that does not really bother me. I have gotten much better about planning time for girls nights or me time.

Hey ladies!! Sorry I was so MIA last week - I was out of town with family all week and never had a chance to post!
@chillycanadian I hope you don't find out the sex in a way that you don't want to! I also hope your next appt goes better with your doctor and that he doesn't just act condescending when your husband isn't around. Glad you were able to stop the progesterone!!
@AKuzReve I'm excited that you are so close to finishing your degree!!! What an awesome feeling!
@mrosek91 I'm glad you are enjoying your holiday with your family!
@peachy0709 I'm sorry that your parents aren't nearly as involved in your kids' lives as you would hope. That's so disappointing. I'm not sure what your parents are like, but I feel like people like that are also always the first to complain that they aren't included or informed. That would definitely drive me crazy!
@aecm I feel you on wishing family lived close! My parents and H's dad, sisters, and their families all live about 2 hours away. My siblings live much farther and H's mom lives 7 hours away. I wish everyone could live within like 1 hour so we could visit everyone without it having to be an elaborately planned ordeal each time. Also being able to ask for help (especially with future kids) without it being a huge inconvenience would be wonderful!
@Allycat11 Yay for feeling movement all the time! At least you are able to get some constant reassurance for why you are feeling so crappy, even though it is definitely unfair for you to feel so bad this far into 2nd tri!
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 8/31, 21+2
Baby is the size of a(n): carrot
What team are you on (Blue, Pink, or Green): pink
Upcoming Appointments: 24 wk appt on May 9
How are you feeling?: Tired - first day back at work after spring break!
Rants/Raves: Rant: Today was a LONG first day back to work, and I'm going to a maternity seminar at the county office this evening so I still have a while before I can relax! Rave: We had a great trip this week down south with great weather and got to visit with family!
Questions: none atm
GTKY: What hobbies do you like to do or what do you do in free time (or what did you do in free time before you had kids/got busy with work and life so now don’t have time lol)? Well I've been taking graduate classes for the past 4 years, plus I tutor after school in addition to working full time, so I have no free time! I enjoy yoga and would love to regularly take yoga classes. I also used to own a horse and spent a lot of time riding and hanging out at the barn. If I had all the free time (and money) in the world, I'd love to get back into riding!
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 22weeks tomorrow!
Baby is the size of a(n): endive today
What team are you on (Blue, Pink, or Green): blue
Upcoming Appointments: Friday to finish up the AS
How are you feeling?: I’m very active but recently I get lightheaded, my heart races and my breathing is labored randomly. I don’t know what’s bringing it on but unless I lay down right away I almost pass out. I’m calling the dr tomorrow but it’s just annoying.
Rants/Raves: my mother is ridiculous. Just ridiculous. She lives 4 houses away and only wants to be with my oldest. Anytime I ask her to watch both she comes up with some excuse but says she can take DS1 if I want.. no. They are both your grandkids. Cut it out.
Questions:
GTKY: What hobbies do you like to do or what do you do in free time (or what did you do in free time before you had kids/got busy with work and life so now don’t have time lol)?
I love to dance! My 2 boys love dancing with me. I belly danced in college, once this baby is out I definitely want to get back into it!
@chillycanadian That sucks your dr was dismissive and rude when DH wasn’t there. Is there any way to change drs if that persists? So glad YH is such a good caretaker
@akuzreve Argh, yes, count me in for my allergies being worse during pregnancy and we are in peak allergy season here (it’s hard not to have a reaction when you can literally see the pollen). You should definitely get something to cool off the house. Everyone keeps telling me how warm I’m going to feel in the summer while pregnant.
@mrosek91 Are you hosting or going to a Seder? I go most years to a friend’s Seder - she is a convert and has a “goy friendly” Seder. Hers was on Saturday but idk if that was the typical day or just a convenient one. I ate too much matzoh ball soup and thought I might explode.
@peachy0709 I think each baby is just different and there’s nothing wrong with not swaddling/using sacks. I’m hoping baby likes swaddling and sacks but if he doesn’t that’s ok. No wonder you’re tired. I have zero children except this little growing one and I have been SO TIRED lately, maybe it is a mid-second tri thing.
@aecm I think it’s amazing you have two babies in there! How far do your parents live? Especially when the twins come it would be so nice to have some extra family support. I’m sorry you’re having the swelling and heartburn already.
@allycat11 I don’t have kids yet and I don’t really have hobbies atm. I’m sorry you’re still feeling so sick, that plain sucks. I’m glad LO is moving a lot. It’s really comforting.
@dogmomma096 Glad you had a good vacation! I live in the southeast and the weather has (mostly) been really lovely lately. It sucks to come back to work after vacation. I also used to be a horseback rider. It takes up a lot of time but is a neat sport. What kind of riding did you do?
@mia8263 What did the dr say on your symptoms? Do you have high or low blood pressure? That is weird your mom only wants to spend time with your son.
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 8/29 / 21w5d
Baby is the size of a(n): Pomegranate
What team are you on (Blue, Pink, or Green): Blue
Upcoming Appointments: Not until mid-May
How are you feeling?: Generally good. I sometimes have trouble sleeping (last night I did). Allergies suck. I have been extra tired - I took a nap on Saturday and Sunday and really wished I could just leave work yesterday for an afternoon siesta. I feel lucky those things are basically the worst of it.
Rants/Raves: It is so nice outside but also all the pollen. Baby is moving a lot, although when he switched to head down his movements changed a bit and became less but they have also been getting stronger.
Questions: When is everyone having their baby shower or sprinkle (if you someone is throwing one for you)?
GTKY: What hobbies do you like to do or what do you do in free time (or what did you do in free time before you had kids/got busy with work and life so now don’t have time lol)? I used to be a horseback rider - I grew up doing it. I started out doing jumping/jumpers and then when I was in my mid teens switched to dressage. I rode 5-6 days a week for about 15 years. Then when I went to grad school I sold my horse and have only ridden a handful of times since then. These days I don’t have any real hobbies. I crochet a little but the urge to do it comes and goes. I think having such a disciplined hobby for so long has made me slightly hobby averse. Riding is great but it also was basically my life until I was 25.
@mia8263 - ditto to what @sourlemon was saying about staying hydrated. I was getting really dizzy several weeks ago, and it only got better once I really increased my daily fluid intake. These days I always have a glass of water with me. Let us know what the doctor suggests!
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 22 weeks + 1
Baby is the size of a(n): corn on the cob
What team are you on (Blue, Pink, or Green): pink
Upcoming Appointments: May 6
How are you feeling?: Pretty good
Rants/Raves: Rant: Last week I woke up with some vaginal swelling, tenderness, and itching. After calling the OB they said it sounded like a yeast infection and to go ahead and start the OTC treatment. I am almost finished the treatment, but I still feel itchy (not all the time, mostly just when I use the bathroom) and now I'm wondering if it's not something else. UGH. Rave: baby is kicking a ton, which kind of makes up for the crappy symptoms. Oh and my skin has FINALLY shown signs that it's finished breaking out (for now).
Questions:
GTKY: What hobbies do you like to do or what do you do in free time (or what did you do in free time before you had kids/got busy with work and life so now don’t have time lol)? sing, act, and dance - my first loves.
@zamora_spin, sorry that you know how I feel re: allergies but hopefully an end is coming soon. It's been warm here since February so it's been non stop. Now, I am so congested that my ears are blocked and all sounds are muffled. I had to give a presentation in class last night and could barely hear myself. It's been fun... Regarding the shower, mine is in 2.5 weeks - May 11! It's very early but it's the only time that I will be back in Canada so it had to happen then.
