@b_1029 Really! I always heard such great things! Why don't you like them? I use the SmileReader which I'm pretty sure are similar but they have a cute app that goes with their products.

@b_1029 I only hate them because *TMI* even after all these months, I have zero control over my 'stream' and even the cups I bought are so small I just make a huge mess.

I don't like mint chocolate chip ice cream. It tastes like eating frozen Crest toothpaste with little pieces of chocolate that were stuck in your teeth.

@ruby696 honestly I think I've stopped tipping my to go orders ... 😬 And why does Panera ask for a tip on the screen when you pay when you go to eat in the damn restaurant??? DUMB

@ruby696 I guess that means my FFFC is that I don't typically tip on takeout orders. I mean, there's no "service" component to that so.... it's not as if it's delivery.

@kiki047 Right?? No one is bussing a table for me or serving me, but they still expect a tip. It's maddening. I will leave a tip at places I go to regularly, but only because I'm too embarrassed not to since they know me.

And can I just ask who the person is who leaves the $5 tip at Starbucks that makes everyone else look bad? That person needs to stop!

I don't tip when I pick up to-go food either but now I feel like I should...and I don't usually tip for counter service/coffee shops honestly, unless SO is with me and looking over my shoulder. He tips everyone always.

Okay for mine, the first thing I can think of is that I don't like Thin Mint girl scout cookies. ( @shamrocandroll reminded me.) They seem to be everyone's fave but I'm not into chocolate and mint together.

Oh my word, I read it as "grocery pickup" and I was like, I don't ever tip for that!
Yeah, I hate tipping for food pickup, but typically will anyways, just a normal 18% nothing fancy.

So up until a few years ago I had no clue that it was expected to tip at Starbucks when a barista posted on Facebook about how rude it was when people didn't tip! Also I will only tip when picking up an order if it's a place I go to often or if it required more work than putting whatever food into a bag lol.

@marebear15 Woah, you tip 18% for food pickup!? I just throw in an extra dollar or 2, if at all. They're not doing any of the serving work or delivery, the way I see it.

@whitealbum29 I don't like Thin Mints either. I do like York peppermint patties and Junior Mints, though.

Sorry, I can't stay out of the tipping conversation. My mom is a server/waitress so I'm very passionate about proper tipping. The point of tipping in food service is to help bridge the gap between servers minimum wage and normal minimum wage; they usually make half of what the normal min wage is. That being said, when you do a take out order, it's not usually prepared by one of the wait staff but instead by a hostess, who already makes minimum wage (or possibly more). Same with starbucks. They already make minimum wage or more ($10-$15/hr according to google). I can see tipping a few dollars if you feel like the person was super nice or helped out an issue or prepared your order really quick, but IMO it it not necessary.

Well, I will say I've only done pick up twice, both at Applebees, so I guess I've been overly generous! I figured they probably do have to pack the bag, serve the drinks, and bring it all to my car, so why not.
However, I've never tipped at Starbucks and rarely any of the hair salons* I've been to, so I guess I'm a cheapskate when it comes to other areas.
*I don't tip on haircuts I hate, and it's rare I get a good haircut #curlyhairprobs

@kiki047 I use the big plastic jars of yogurt/sour cream/ricotta cheese... and they are perfect! No spills at all and they can hold full bladders easily.

My UO: I think snakes are pretty. I don't want to handle one or have one in my house, but I do love looking at the colors and patterns on their skin.

I guess an UO of mine is that I dislike pretty much all ice cream (thank you lactose intolerance) but the only ice cream I will suffer for is mint chip!

@lulu1180 Yes! I feel like servers work really hard and put up with a lot, and aren't paid fairly. I'm happy to tip and tip well when I'm dining in. But tipping $5 at Starbucks is crazy.

@emeraldduchess Not only do I love whoopie pies, but I had a tower of them at my wedding instead of cake! My cousin owns a whoopie pie baking company, too.

@shamrocandroll I’m right there with you on the tipping and the mint chip flavors: no to Thin Mints but yes to York patties & Junior Mints.

@lulu1180 I couldn’t agree w you more. I also used to work in service once upon a time so I always tip generously for actual service but never for pickup.

@marebear15 Also dealing w the curly hair dilemma here. I read in several articles that you don’t have to tip your hairdresser if s/he is the owner of the salon. Well, I used to tip my lady 20-30% even though she was the owner because she was the ONLY ONE in my whole life that ever gave me a great haircut! I went back to her religiously for years & years until she moved far away. Now I have a bad frizzy haircut that I tipped 18% on before I saw the next-day results😩

UO based on the WTO thread... I like Take Your Child to Work Day. My students learn so much and have a lot to share about what their parents’ companies do (when the company or parent has done a proper job of actually showing them). Some kids literally have no idea what their parents do and / or how what they learn in school applies to the real world. I’ve had them send pics and videos to school in real time so we can see what they do. If it’s not done well, I know it can be a distraction to others. It’s one day a year and I still think the benefits outweigh the inconveniences.
