Re: UO 4/18

  • @MamaK225 no problem, sometimes I feel like I start so many threads, but I like it when the board runs on time, and it seems a lot of the original posters disappeared or forgot.

Also, I feel dumb, but I tried googling it and it's too math-y for my brain right now. What is asymptote?
  • Super math-y: related to analytical algebra/geometry. Basically, it's a line to approach, but not touch.

Like with 1/x - as x approaches infinity, the function will approach zero, but never actually touch it ... just get infinitesimally close.

In this UO: if the speed limit is 45, you should go 40-50. 45 is more or less the guideline (where you should be driving at a speed that approaches this value, but isn't necessarily exactly this). If that makes sense.

  • @MamaK225 I love Bojangles. It’s my fav part of visiting my bestie in NC.
  • Oh don't get me wrong, @heml, Bojangles is amazing. I've never been a bread person and I loooooove their biscuits. Apparently, we had them when we lived in MD when I was a toddler and it was one of my first words :D

  • Here's another situationally-recent UO: Almond Snickers ... whyyyyyyyy? Granted, I'm not a fan of nuts and will *always* choose the nut-free option, if available. However, whyyyyyyy? Peanuts are the original and peanuts are just fine. A co-worker passed out some fun sized almond Snickers and - while thankful - I ate them, secretly wishing they were the original.

  • @lilmamabebe3 I don't think this one is even officially assigned to you on the *read first*, so I appreciate that you usually get it up.
Sending you all the hugs. Good luck with daycare, finding good options is so tough.

You are correct! I think I just grabbed it when the og poster GBCB and I try to get it up in a timely fashion.

And thank you! The tours today weren't great. But I did find one that I really like based on reviews, they have space for all three kids, bus to our elementary, and the director was so nice. I am touring first thing tomorrow morning and really hoping it's the one

  • Oh!! I have one. Pizza is incredibly overrated. It's not even that good.
  • Same with @mrosek91: I'm so sorry you're dealing with that now @lilmamabebe3! Daycare ruined a solid 2 weeks for me and I can't definitively say that I'm fully over the anger that they can't get me in until mid-November because some over-ready women put their cart in front of the horse.

  • I don't get ultrasound pictures, I like looking at the screen while it's happening, because then you see movement. But the pics always just look like strange blobs.
  • This is a gentle benign UO but I think white chocolate is delightful and gets a bad rap. Like yes, of course the darkest of dark chocolate is complex and provocative and an engaging challenge of the senses and I love that gripping symphony in my mouth BUT sometimes you just want something that tastes and feels like a sweet cloud.
  • @jma_18 I agree with you. I just thought we’d still have a nanny so now I’m more than halfway and kind of fucked. And I totally understand why, but it’s just an added stressor to an already stressful situation. I really hope I can find a unicorn that works for all the babies.

i have a tour tomorrow at 9am that may be the one. Fingers crossed I love it as much in person as I do on paper.
  • @mrosek91 my favorite ultrasound tech always gets some really cute shots like a really good profile, or what is very clearly legs and feet. But there is one tech that is super fast and get nothing cute. I don't care for those ones. Or print outs of the heartbeat. But I saw a picture of a baby that was born to a high risk mom and it was surrounded by all the uktrasultras from pregnancy and I thought that was really cool so I think I might do that with this kiddo since I will have a ton.
  • @lilmamabebe3 I get it! My center up and closed a month ago leaving us stranded with our 14 month old and this baby in November. All the centers and in homes around us have wait lists with no open spots for him. Thankfully another center in town bought the building and is opening in a few weeks and taking him. I hope you can find something that works for your family soon. Daycare stress sucks for everyone
  • @sourlemon I think that not all boarder towns are alike... I used to live in san diego and I suspect that experience may be very different from someone in arizona or texas...

@lilmamabebe3 with my first pregnancy I was living in cali and the wait lists for infant care were more than a year!! like WTF, you had to get on the list before you were even pregnant!

  • @thirdtimesacharm2019 I nodded along to everything you wrote...all the chocolate, yep. All the pizza, yep. Basically all the food!
  • @wabash15 true. I was thinking that as well. Big city border towns are vastly different than my little town which is proud to boast a Walmart AND a Target hahaha. Very different struggles and resources.

    DD1 5/23/14, DD2 12/5/16   Baby #3 on the way!

  • @cato99 - dude, that just means more white chocolate for us. I love it, esp. Godiva white chocolate covered strawberries. Heaven!!!

  • @MamaK225 I am so with you!!  I get so much road rage when people are going more than 5mph below the speed limit.

@lilmamabebe3 I’m with you on most pizza. But I do like white pizza.

  • @jma_18 - I totally get that (jumping onto the list ASAP), however, it would be nice if daycare would let you know that's an option - it took me over 18 months (and the loss of 11 embryos and tens of thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours off work) to get pregnant this second time and I would have LOVED to snatch that spot from someone else so that I'm not hanging out in 3-weeks-later-than-I-need-daycare land.

@cato99 - Maybe I've just not had "good quality" white chocolate because it always tastes like butter-wax and not these clouds you purport. You're more than welcome to enjoy my ration of white chocolate in the meantime ;)
