What's going on this week? Baby is the size of an eclair.

How far along are you? 15 weeks, 2 days.

Anyone have an appointment this week? No, but I have my 16 week appointment next Friday. Does anybody know if they will use a doppler then? I'm just a little anxious to hear her heartbeat.

Cravings/Symptoms? I eat fruit and carbs like nobody's business. Lots of vegetables and fish still gross me out. I think I'm starting to get a belly, but it's still not noticeable to anybody but me and my husband. Maybe because I don't walk up to people with my shirt lifted up asking them to play the game "Am I pregnant or fat?" That might be a horrible game. Who would host that? Probably a dude.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? Sorry for being such a bad bumpie lately! The end of the school year is in sight though, then I'll have far too much time. (I'm a tutor.)

Questions? Has anybody felt any fluttering yet? For STM/STM+ women, which week did you first feel your baby move?

GTKY: do you have any superstitions? If so, what are they? I have a car air freshener that is shaped like an old station wagon and it looks just like the one my late grandfather used to drive. Ever since the car accident, every time I get in my car I touch it and ask him to watch out for me and the baby on our journey.

What's going on this week? baby is developing reflexes. Baby is the size of a hard boiled egg. Is there a difference in size between a raw egg and hard boiled 🤔

How far along are you? 12+1

Anyone have an appointment this week? Just had 1 on Tue, went swimmingly

Cravings/Symptoms? No changes here. Still just tired and no real cravings.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? The housing market is not bouncing back quick enough for me. I feel like we are on a time crunch now and it's making me crazy. I'll rave that DS has been sleeping in his own bed more often then mine the past week. And on the nights he has found his way into mine, it's been around 5am mostly. It's been beautiful to have 1 less body there!

Questions?

GTKY: do you have any superstitions? If so, what are they? Most of them are acquired from my grandmother. The biggest 1 is that it's bad luck to gift a purse/wallet with no money. And she also believes it's bad luck to give kitchen utensils with silver change in the box 🤔🤷‍♀️ Oh, and finding scotch tape stuck to things (esp your clothing) is good luck.

@elle-0409 I think you'll have doppler check at every appt now. I know mine does. Don't feel bad, you were enjoying time with your mom and we a get busy with RL from time to time! But we are happy to have you back!

@elle-0409, I have not yet had my 16w appointment (obviously, ha) but my doctor told me it would just be a quick doppler check and vitals.

@prpl11butterfly, I love your grandmother's superstition about purses/wallets! I do the same. I gifted my niece and nephew with piggy banks for their first birthdays and included some change both times 😊

Cravings/Symptoms?
My symptoms this week have been totally masked by this horrible head cold. I'm on day 5 and just starting to feel a teeny bit better. Hopefully I feel human soon and my appetite returns.

Rants/Raves/Randoms?
Rant - this head cold suuuuuuucks. I missed two and a half days of work this week, which is probably the most I've ever missed. I wish I could have taken today off too because I still feel like 💩

Rave - I am amazed that we have made it this far. I'm so grateful to still be pregnant. I'm starting to get more comfortable and confident, and that's a really good feeling 💖

Seconding Elle's question about feeling the baby for the first time. I feel like I am hyper aware of every little gas bubble these days 😂

GTKY: do you have any superstitions? If so, what are they?
If I happen to look at the clock when it's 11:11, I make a wish 🥰

So this is not exactly a superstition, but related to thinking things are lucky. My grandmother collected dimes, for no apparent reason. I remember after she passed, going through her house and belongings and finding random vases, containers, and boxes just bursting full with dimes. So wherever someone in the family finds a dime, we text each other a pic and say Grandma must be looking out for us that day. I have found them on important days of my life, including the morning I got married. It never fails to make me smile.

When I went to my first OB appointment at 8w, I was terrified of whether baby would have a heartbeat. I had a panic attack on the way to the doctor's office and was basically on the verge of tears all day. When I checked in at the receptionist, she told me I had a prior unpaid balance of $3.50 from an old appointment, something that wasn't covered by insurance. (If it's anything under $5, my office doesn't bill you, they just wait til the next time you are in.) I paid the balance with a $5 bill, and the receptionist took a really long time at the cash register coming back with my change. When she finally came back, she said, "I'm so sorry - we are completely out of ones and quarters!" And she handed me $1.50 worth of dimes. I burst into tears and couldn't bear to put them in my wallet. I just held them in my hand and cried. It might be silly, but I felt so much relief after that. It was like my grandma was telling me everything was going to be okay 💖

I didn't see that question somehow. With DS I felt the first somethings around 15wks. It started out like a popcorn kernel popping, just a little "pop pop". Then became the "goldfish in a bag" feeling. It was very different then gas bubbles for me.

@elle-0409 I wonder sometimes at flutterings and think maybe it's the baby, BUT they're in the wrong location so I know that (at least for me) it hasn't happened yet.

Anyone have an appointment this week? Not until May 1st unfortunately, but I listen to the baby's heartbeat on my doppler each night and it's so comforting

Cravings/Symptoms? Back to normal thankfully now (or as normal as a preggo person can feel). I don't really have to-die-for cravings, but I never turn down fruit or carbs

Rants/Raves/Randoms? Rave: I just bought 8 maternity tops from Old Navy for just about $100 last night thanks to that tip on the steals/deals thread (yay). Rant: I'm so sad that I have to work at least 9 hour days for the next few MONTHS to make bonus at work by September...I had a slow start to this fiscal year and it's biting me in the butt now (but those hours spent lazing about on Netflix were glorious)

GTKY: I'm not overly superstitious but I do make wishes when the clock is on a double number, otherwise an adopted superstition from MH's family is that I don't buy any of them shoes as gifts (apparently it will make them walk out of your life or something and they believe it at least)

@elle-0409 I've question whether i'm having flutters a few times. Just this morning I though I felt some flutters about half an hour after I ate. So I definitely think its possible that's what it was. With DS I didn't feel anything until about 22 weeks so this seems strange to me. IDK I don't think about it to much.
@galentine I'm sorry you are still feeling bad. Your doctors office story is so sweet
@marbellie That's a good deal on tops. I don't usually spend much on maternity clothes but I just bought a $60 dress from motherhood maternity yesterday. It was just to pretty to say no to and it's a maxi dress with a length that actually works for me, and that is near impossible for me to find.

What's going on this week? Baby is the size of a scoop ice cream, that's fitting LOL. Vocal cords and teeth are forming.

How far along are you? 13+1

Anyone have an appointment this week? Had an appointment with my regular OB yesterday to establish for this pregnancy. She wasn't planning on doing a doppler but when I asked she was happy to and it took a little trying but she found it fairly easy. I will see my MFM doc and her again on May 1st.

Cravings/Symptoms? No symptoms other that still pretty tired and insomnia. No strong cravings, but suddenly things will sound really good just changes what they are.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? Nothing comes to mind today. I guess DH switched positions at work and has been really stressed the past two weeks and pregnancy makes me cranky. So we haven't been getting along great, not fighting just a lot of bickering. It doesn't help that our 4year old is being really difficult right now.

Questions? Nope

GTKY: do you have any superstitions? If so, what are they? I'm not really a superstitious person except behaviors changes related to full moons. As a nurse and a teacher I have seen way to many extremely weird or crazy days consistent with a full moon.

@elle-0409 Glad to see you back here. And from my recollection, yes they will use the doppler. I believe they used it for every single OB appointment (but this was five-six years ago with Kaiser). Also, again from my spotty memory, I think it was between week 16-18 that it was really confirmed movement. Lastly, your story made me tear up, I love how you remember your grandpa.

@prpl11butterfly Yay for your DS sleeping in his own bed. I feel ya on the housing market. I hope you find something soon that is perfect for your family! Also, I had never heard of this (wallet/purse) superstition until DH told me.

@galentine So sorry about your cold. I hope you start to feel better soon. Would some Leslie Knope style waffles help you? Also just read your story and that made me cry at my desk!!

@marbellie That's poo poo about working extra, but I'm sure that money will come in handy for your maternity leave. What kind of tops did you get from Old Navy? I think I only bought a couple when I was PG with DS but I liked them.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? So excited for the reveal pizza party on Saturday. I'm so tempted to look but I truly want to be surprised. I'm convinced that it is a girl, so we shall see if my intuition is correct (for the record, I thought DS was going to be a boy so I'm 1-0 right now

@marbellie, I LOLed at your HBIC comment, but I totally respect it. I try hard not to cry at work (although I did cry the day after the last presidential election.... but I say that one was justified). And now I'm curious too which one of us will deliver first! I fully expect to go late, and my doctor induces at 41 weeks, which would be the 13th. But I don't particularly want the baby's birthday to be the 13th if I can help it (hey! Maybe I am superstitious! LOL). So I'm predicting Oct 14th or 15th for me. What about you?

@kindbytealikat, I'm with you on the full moon stuff! I take phone calls from the public as part of my job, and it's like all the weirdos call with their crazy questions on the full moon! I never believed it until I had this job!

@galentine I wanted to keep it very low-key but SIL and MIL bought decorations and other stuff so who knows! All I know is for sure we are doing some delicious pizza (and it's National Pizza Day)!

SIL knows the sex already. I ordered 1 confetti cannon of each color from Target (so hopefully it works!) and she has those too. I also got DH, DS and I all basic white shirts and we will wear blue jeans so that it makes a cute picture.

@kindbytealikat That's great that you splurged, and with nice weather coming soon a maxi dress is perfect. I'm too tall so it's almost impossible for me to find a nice fitting one though

@stephanie123456 yeah, unfortunately bonus this year is about 25% of salary and would be NICE to get...so here I try with my exhausted pregnant self haha. From Old Navy I got a few "essential" plain tops (in black and blue), because I love them and want to keep wearing them, a denim top, two maternity/nursing ones with cute prints and some more that I'm excited about but can't remember. Old Navy has so many great basic pieces.

@galentine same, November 2016 was a dark time lol. Hmm I'm going to bet that I go early for some reason so I'm thinking like Oct. 1 (it's just how I feel it will go, but watch me go 2 weeks over instead)

@elle-0409 so I think I've already been feeling flutters since exactly 12 weeks this time! However with my first I didn't feel him until 19+6... It was the day of my anatomy scan and he started the day with a big ol kick! Haha

@prpl11butterfly maybe the hard boiled one has been de-shelled?! 😂 Sorry about the housing market... Buying/selling is just so stressful 😭

@galentine your superstition made me almost cry!! My mom has one very similar for my gma (she was actually my mom's MIL lol) Her name was Birdie and every time my mom is having a hard day or needs reassurance, she's will find a little down feather! My mom owns no down, so they just randomly appear 💚

@marbellie I'm sorry work is going to be so rough for a couple of weeks... 😥

Cravings/Symptoms? Last night I really wanted pizza, byt it was 10:03 and everything was closed... But for some reason J-Box (Jack in the Box) showed up on the search and I couldn't get egg rolls, curly fries and an ultimate cheeseburger out of my head. But I had to finish setting up my fish tank before I could leave, so then I started thinking about what we had in the fridge and started craving nachos. 2 hours later when we were finally finished unpacking for the night I ended up eating a bowl of sugared cheerios lol I'm also still craving allllllll the other things though haha

Rants/Raves/Randoms? We have been staying at our new house since Wednesday!! And I just have a couple things to do at the old house today and we'll be officially done with the selling/buying a house adventure 😍 I cried before we left the old house last night, I'm going to miss it so much 💚

GTKY: do you have any superstitions? If so, what are they? I don't like to jinx life altering things. For my first pregnancy I used the ovia fertility app and I couldn't delete it even though my phone was running out of room... But my husband constantly yells (playfully!) at me for jinxing sports games or other day to day stuff lol It's like I don't believe in jinxes, but I'm also not willing to risk it on some stuff!

@kindbytealikat I know what you mean about being cranky lately. DH and I aren't fighting, but I find that we bicker. Okay, *I* bicker. I'm just kind of wanting to be left alone unless you are coming at me with pie. Hopefully things settle down soon for you.
