Babies on the Brain

WRW April 2019

***General TW that this thread might contain discussions mentioning MC and loss.***

Welcome to Waiting Room Wednesday! You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on not TTC and connect with others who are in the same boat. TTC can be a long journey, and having to wait makes it feel even longer -- even if it is for a good reason.

I invite you to resurrect this thread at any point in the month if you have something to say. Treat this like an ongoing conversation.

Benched = involuntarily not NTNP/TTC and "out of the game," usually due to medical reasons TTA = avoiding pregnancy by using protection or FAM, usually for non-health-related reasons

When do you think you will start TTC?
    Discussions start August 2019

    What brings you to WRW?
Had bad baby fever in the summer, simmered down in the Autumn, and it's slowly starting to creep back up again.

    Any R/R?
    Rant - Getting over a cold :(
Rave - the house is FINALLY almost done being renovated! The kitchen has been deliverd as of this morning, flooring is ordered, kitchen and living room have all been plastered. The dining room wall between the kitchen and dining room is down. The only things left to do are plaster the living room, install the kitchen, paint the walls, and install the flooring. It still sounds like quite a bit when you say it out loud but compared to how big the list was when we started, it's totally a rave! I'll post before and afters once it's all done

GTKY: Where is your dream vacation destination?
I'm pretty lucky that I've been able to travel to loads of places and now that I'm living in Europe I told DH that I expect to go to AT LEAST one European city every year, because we have the luxury of just going for a long weekend (which is something I never thought I'd say). I'd really like to go to either Hawaii or Thailand or Australia. There are lots of places in the US that are on our list as well. I think I've come down with another bug - the travel bug this time. :D

  • When do you think you will start TTC?  Maybe this summer, maybe never. I have no idea.

What brings you to WRW? I have two girls ages 3.5 and almost 2. For the last 6 months or so I cannot stop thinking about trying for a third. It seems so greedy. It seems insane to add to the chaos because things are just starting to settle down, but I irrationally feel like my family is incomplete. And, I feel like it’s now or never. I know that if we do start TTC that best case scenario, there will be a 3 year age gap between DD2 and the new LO. This may not seem like a huge gap but DD1 and DD2 have almost half that gap... and a bigger gap is making me nervous.

Any R/R? Rant: We just moved this fall and our neighbors are total weirdos. I was playing in the backyard with my girls and the neighbor walked by and my girls waved. The neighbor just looked at them and kept walking. Who does that?

Rave: I just started using a sugar scrub and my skin feels amazing.

GTKY: Where is your dream vacation destination? A month long trip in which I visit every Disney Park on the planet.

@jackie_dunny congrats on your home renovation! So exciting!
  • @doodleoodle if it makes you feel any better, I'm one of 6 kids and I'm definitely closest with my brother who is 8 years youger than me. So weird about your neighbour! Bit creepy. :# LOVE sugar scrubs! I always feel so soft and keep stroking my arms after I use mine :D I'm jealous of the dream vacation you came up with. That sounds perfect! Are you a big Disney fan?

  • Hi all!

@jackie_dunny That's exciting with your renovations!!  My hubby and I completed construction last year upstairs (added two bedrooms and a bath) and it took about a year as it we tried to do as much as we could ourselves.  I'm sure it seems never ending, but will be totally worth it once it is completed!  Glad you have so much progress already!

@doodleoodle That's great that you just moved, congratulations.  Very weird about your neighbors.  I have some weirdo neighbors too.. I think there is at least one in every neighborhood, ugh!

When do you think you will start TTC?  Will begin early June... 1.5 cycles to go, Ahh!

What brings you to WRW?  Baby fever big time!  It's been a roller coaster with highs and lows for the past few years.  Since I've gotten to a place in my career that I'm finally happy, hubby and I are ready to start our family <3

Any R/R?  Rave  Finally painted our living room and bay window this past weekend to match the new hallway going upstairs.  Now the next project is redoing our sunroom.

Rant  Since my living room looks nice and bright with a new color, I now want a new couch to match... and hate my current couch - it's too big, ugly, uncomfortable... we bought it cheap when we first bought our house 9 years ago.

GTKY: Where is your dream vacation destination?  This is tough as there are so many destinations on my list... I guess I'll go with Italy.  I would love to do a three week tour and have time to visit all over and relax and enjoy.

  • @jackie_dunny not really  :D I guess it depends on how close you and your brother actually are. I am also one of 6 kids (what are the chances?) and I am closest with my sister who is 14 years older than I am, but we're not really that close. You can steal my dream vacation. I won’t tell 🤐 I am a huge Disney fan, DH and I exclusively vacationed at Disney World even before we had kids, like a couple of weirdos.

@ziggymama06 the strangest part about my neighbors is that they also have a child, so they’re not just kid haters AND they were so eager to welcome us. They actually came over as we were moving in boxes. Justifying buying a new couch is tricky because if you are buying a quality one they can be quite expensive and they last forever! Is there anywhere else in your house you can move it to?
  • @doodleoodle what are the chances, indeed! We don't talk every day or anything but he's definitely the one that I feel most comfortable with and we used to just like, hangout in each other's rooms even if we were doing our own thing. Definitely don't think you're a weirdo at all. We had our first honeymoon there :D (we were lucky to have two: one after we got married, and then he went back to England and I stayed in America while the visa got approved which took 3 months, so we had a second honeymoon when we could ACTUALLY begin our lives together.) We'd like to go to a Disney park once every year

@ziggymama06 I've only been a home owner for about 2 months now and I already know that it's one never ending project :D once one project ends, something else comes up!

  • @doodleoodle That is certainly odd about your neighbors.  The only explanation is that they didn't see your children waving?  lol  TBH our couch is just uncomfortable now.  We will likely move it to the basement and throw out the hand-me-down couch down there which really doesn't get used often... mostly by our dog, ha!  We are thinking of maybe just purchasing another cheapie that will fit the color scheme and room... then once we move we'll move the newer couch to the basement.  At least my hubby is on board and wants a new couch too.

@jackie_dunny Wow only 2 months!  Congratulations!  It's a big step buying a new home, especially is you are doing lots of updates/renovations.  Try not to stress too much, I know it can seem totally overwhelming!

  • @ziggymama06 thanks for  the advice. I think I've kept a rather cool head through the whole thing. We lived with my in-laws throughtout most of the reno and before we moved in. Luckily, they're some of my favourite people (most of the time at least :D ) so we really didn't mind it, just desparately wanted our own space, really. Tired of living out of just a bedroom :D

  • @ziggymama06 the neighbor definitely saw! She looked right at them and we were not too far from the sidewalk.

@jackie_dunny Two honeymoons! That sounds nice. I didn’t catch that you were living in England until now. How long have you been there?

Renos sound tough! I don’t think I have it in me. Just watching Property Bros is stressful enough 😂
  • @doodleoodle I lived here temporarily May-November 2016 and May-November 2017 (Americans can do this wihout a visa, I just couldn't work). I moved her permenataly end of August this past summer so approaching 8 months here! As for the renos, I'm exhausted :D but we are SO close to being done! It's going to be so satisfying to cook in my own kitchen and lounge in my own living room

  • When do you think you will start TTC?
On hold currantly, my husband wants to find a job qnd be working for awhile.
    What brings you to WRW?
Community and like mineded pepole. I've had baby feavor all my life and the older I get the more I want to be a mother. My husbands age has become a concern as he's turning 38 this year.

    Any R/R?

Rant: I respect that DH wants to have work before TTC...however it's been four years and I'm really worried it will take that or more for him to find something. I'm ready now and he did tell me that we will try to make it under four years but his age really consurns me.

Rave: My DH and I had a good talk and I feel a lot better about having kids with him now, he admited to me that he would be disappointed if he found out he couldn't have children someday. I always felt like I was alone in wanting a family and I really didn't want to force him into anything so it was really bothering me. Now, he has helped me pick out names and I'm just desperate to TTC. Also, I'm really happy I moved out of my moms house! I love my roommates and our friend group is really awesome, I've never had a big group of friends it was one of my hopes when I moved out was to be with people around my age. I work a lot and it's wonderful to hang out with friends and just chill.

GTKY: Where is your dream vacation destination? Disney World, I've never been and really want to! Also, Ireland to visit a friend.

  • @chinadoll2522 I'm glad you and YH have started some discussions of future LOs. It may not be the pace that you were hoping for but every step forward is progress! While his age is a factor (and someone correct me if I'm wrong here), men are fertile from puberty until they die and seeing as he's only 38, I wouldn't stress too much./ Where in Ireland is your friend? We're hoping to go for our anniversary in May!

I was talking to someone in the forms, before I found babies on the brain a comment someone sent me was about my husbands age and I hadn't even thought about that so I did some Googleing.

The friend lives in Dubblin Ireland and I really want to go see her, plane tickets can be really pricey though.
