Nail: I've been working on being calmer, and commanding more than pleading or yelling when the boys misbehave. It's still a work in progress but I think it's going well.
Fail: DH tolded me this week he thinks I take him for granted sometimes, and he's right.

Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
My parents came for the weekend, and my mom took the boys in the morning. I got to sleep until 8:30! And she's planning on doing the same tomorrow.

Nail- ds slept until 7.30 this morning!!
Fail- I had stress-dreams last night about ds's food allergies. I wouldn't call them nightmares bc nothing truly horrible happened, just stress and disappointment and frustration throughout so I woke up crying several times

it's been a while since I cried about it irl, so maybe I needed a release and didn't know it? No clue.

How old is/are you other kid(s)? dS will be 3 on 9th and DD is 6.

Nails and fails from this week: Fail- tried to potty train DS again, 4 hours and 7 pair of underwear later he is just not ready. He literally has zero problem being wet or dirty. I know he will do it when ready but I wish he was ready now. Nail- Made it to church with both kids this morning while DH was at work.

@BigBadWolf12 every time you talk about your sons allergies I think about how impressive it is that you can manage it all. I can definitely understand needing a release.
@Allycat11 I'm sorry potty training didn't work out. After that one good morning last week, we are once again in the stall out phase. I hope it happens for you soon!

@elizabeth_1985 9 hours!?!?! Is that including going to different dealerships and test driving etc? I hope that wasn't just the purchasing process. Yay for a new car though!

Nails and fails from this week: Nail: We got a lot of cleaning done this weekend. Fail: I still have so much I want to accomplish before this baby arrives and I tend to use my daughter's nap time as nap time for myself so it's hard to finish these tasks like cleaning out my closet etc.

Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: I feel like this pregnancy is flying by and I sometimes feel a little guilty for not "connecting" as much as I did with my daughter. Having a toddler just keeps me so occupied I don't sit around and dream of how things will be like I did with her. Don't get me wrong, I am so excited... it is just so different this time.

GTKY: What was your favorite TV show when you were growing up? I don't remember when I was really little but in high school I loved My So Called Life and Seinfeld.

How old is/are you other kid(s)? 5 and almost 2

Nails and fails from this week: I just want to buy ALL THE BABY STUFF. We need to do some other projects in our house first (we just painted the interior this week and we're really pleased with the colors), like combine DD1 and DD2 into the same bedroom, but I just want to buy cute little onesies and baby booties.

Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: We are coming to terms with the fact that this is the last baby for us. It's really bittersweet. I hate being pregnant, but I LOVE being a mom. Even the most difficult times, I really love it.

GTKY: What was your favorite TV show when you were growing up?: Hmmm, I guess it depends the age we are thinking of. I LOVED All That when it was in it's prime - I've always had a place for sketch comedy, even at a young age. I also was super into Dawson's Creek in it's true prime (as in, first four seasons or so). I think I watched the shows everyone else did just to stay relevant, like FRIENDS, but I guess that's why I now just Wikipedia shows when they are popular so I know what's up

@peachy0709 it really is bittersweet knowing it will be your last. DH and I have spent the past 8 or 9 years TTC, having babies and raising little ones. This will be our last and I have definitely not come to terms with it. I hate the struggles of ttc and am prone to rough pregnancies but I really love the baby phase and can't imagine that chapter of our life closing.

@mrosek91 and @Allycat11 Yes to the Boy Meets World love!!! My brother, sister, and I were so in to it. We all bought each other "pudding trunks" when we went away to college. It is the one series I can watch the first 30 seconds of and know exactly what episode it is.

@mkrel I have the same feelings of this pregnancy going by so fast and not connecting. I've heard that that is really normal with a second. You just don't have time. Finding out the sex and helped a bit for me, and I'm hoping once I start seeing her kick on the outside I'll connect more.

Nails and fails from this week: Nails: Made it through the last week of DH working nights.

Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: DH is back to working days and I am so happy, but man was this morning an adjustment for DD. She is so used to me taking her to daycare that she had a full meltdown when DH did it. I also drove a total of 16 hours between Wednesday-Sunday, and I am exhausted.

Nails and fails from this week:
Nails: supervised DH doing a massive yardwork project. He did all the irrigation on his own this weekend and I only needed to help him a little, and not with the heavy moving. Also kept the house pretty clean, meal planned, did all the laundry, and got DD1 looking cute for T-Ball pictures on Saturday.

Fails: we all got a lot of sun this weekend and even though we used a lot of sunscreen, we all look a little red or tan.

Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: Tonight is DD1s first ever T-Ball game. I'm so excited. But it couldnt be on a crazier day...I get off work at 4, gotta get the kids and get home and feed them a snack, get DD1 ready, and leave the house by 5pm. Its going to be TIGHT. DH isnt able to help because when he gets off work he has to go pick up the dog from the vet (she's having surgery today) and get her settled at home. He will probably meet me at the field just in time for the game. To make it worse, the dog having surgery is the dog who has seizures whenever she's stressed. The last time she had surgery she had 3 seizures once we got her home, so thats stressful.

GTKY: What was your favorite TV show when you were growing up? Boy Meets World, Growing Pains, Full House. Way back in the day was Rugrats, Doug, Power Rangers, Animaniacs lol.

Nails - I am prepped for a baby shower this coming weekend, all I have to do is wrap the gifts and I'm done. My DS had a blast washing the cars outside with DH this weekend. It was super cute and the cars are clean, so, win-win.
Fails - my back is killing me, I'm still waiting to receive a check that I should have gotten last week so that I can book trip things & pay the doula. So impatient!

Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: I feel bad I have been a terrible BMB participant the last few weeks! I'm trying to get back into a groove since the plague finally left us.

GTKY: What was your favorite TV show when you were growing up? Rugrats, the Saddle Club, Saved by the Bell, and Gilmore Girls.

@mkrel I also just don't feel as connected this time, and I don't know what to do with that. DS demands so much attention, when I was pregnant with him the pregnancy was able to be my top focus much more than this time.

Nails: I’m killing it at work. Hopefully there’s a raise in the cards this year 😉.
Fails: I’m about to kill somebody at home, kidding, but I’m much better with numbers than emotions and stuff.

Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
I really need to start prepping for this baby. We still need quite a few big items that require DH and I shopping together, which is great that he wants to be a part, but hard to schedule.

Random question since it seems like there are several people with 4/5 year olds. Suddenly, my 5 year old is scared to do anything by herself - go potty, go to her room, sleep at night. When pressed why, she says she's scared, usually of "bad guys." Of course this initially set off a ton of alarm bells in my head, but a lot of Dr. Google is saying it's pretty normal at this age. That said, we're having a hard time combating it. Has anyone else experienced this?

@peachy0709 DD just turned 6 and has had times like that off and on. For some absurb reason she will not use the downstairs bathroom. It is in our finished lower level and between her bedroom and playroom so it makes no sense to me. She literally comes upstairs every single time.

@peachy0709 DD turned 4 in Jan, and we have been going through that. She will not use the bathroom by herself and we recently had to get 2 more nightlights because she kept saying how scary or lonely it was in her room by herself. She is always talking about mad/mean guys and monsters, but when we talk more about it it's clear that it's more of a game of make believe from TV shows and such. I wouldn't worry too much about the bad guys, but you can always probe for more answers when she talks about it.

@EmilyA724 - the only bad guy she says she's scared of is from a Sophia the First movie where there was a witch whose skin turned green. That apparently TERRIFIED her, except my child loves scary things so I'm genuinely confused why this one witch messed her up so bad

@peachy0709 My 5 year old has always been a little shy/nervous. Lately, she's been scared of someone breaking in through her window and kidnapping her.

I think sometimes they talk about "stranger danger" at school. She's at a university daycare and there was a dangerous student on campus. (Police killed him within minutes.) But the kids had to go into lock-down and hide from the "bad guy." My building was also put on lock-down and I was scared as an adult. It's too bad we have to deal with these sort of things.

@elizabeth_1985 That's a good point, they talk about stranger danger and not going anywhere with strangers at DD's preschool and I definitely noticed more awareness of strangers and "mean guys" around that time

@elizabeth_1985 I use to work at a university and the active shooter training they make you attend has given ME PTSD, so that makes sense that this coincides with her doing active shooter drills (yup. In PreK!) and other safety training.
