  • I love hiking, and while I’m not near any mountains (or even hills for that matter) we have a park that has some decent trails nearby, so i may do that today. I also need to get a pedicure so that might be on the agenda for tomorrow.
  • I think my mom and I are going to do face masks! And my usual go tos: walking and yoga. But first coffee...

  • Thanks for the reminder @chichiphin! I really like hiking but we don’t have anywhere super close. But I’m hoping I can take a little drive with the windows down with the pup later and maybe find a place to squeeze in a little walk!

  • @kbrown2385 That sounds lovely. We have plenty of places to hike (including our own land), but I'm not sure if my lungs are going to allow me the pleasure. The pollen count here is ridiculous!

@chichiphin No judgment at all! I've thought of getting it done to help with my tension headaches and TMJ, but I'm too much of a wuss. The thought of botox leading to the reprogramming of sensory maps in other areas (like the hands) creeps me out too much!

As for what I'm doing to relax/practice self care:
I'll probably do some yoga this evening. Then some anime and tv marathoning after that!
Tomorrow, I hope to get in a nice hike (hopefully the pollen won't be as bad then).

  • Yoga (necessary mentally as well as physically for me), reading fiction, and spending kind of a ridiculous amount of time on my bedtime routine are all big for me. I like putting on one of Spotify's sleep/relaxation playlists while I wash my face, exfoliate a couple times a week, do night cream and serum, sometimes a mask, etc...SO is sometimes like "wtf are you doing in there?!" It's my me time! I will probably do the whole nine yards Sunday night.

@chichiphin Oh man I have a bunch of friends who have started getting botox! I'm a little curious about doing something about the permanent wrinkle I've had between my brows since I was like 15....
  • Watching T.V. in bed alone is my go-to. If I start watching T.V. in bed about an hour before going to bed to sleep, it helps me fall asleep faster.

Today my self-care was knocking a bunch of things off my to-do list. I know that's not traditional self-care but I was so stressed out by the state of the house and all the things I needed to do to get ready for overnight visitors and a party in two weeks. It made me feel so much better to have a good amount of that stuff done.

  • @chichiphin I wasn’t even thinking about Botox until a friend got it! Her skin looked so smooth! Fun fact - we almost missed a flight because she was making me squint and everything while we were waiting in a terminal talking about Botox.... legit everyone boarded the plane and we totally were not paying attention 🤦🏻‍♀️.

  • @celticknotfire a night by myself at a nice hotel sounds heavenly
  • @brookert615 my friend gets the smallest amount in her forehead and it looks soooo good. I just want that. But I gotta work on this adult acne first before spending money on wrinkles lol.

I actually switched from a facial to a glycolic peel and OMG HOLY GRAIL. My skin already looks better today. I am amazed.

  • Everyone talking about facemasks is making me think I should try them.  Any recommendations?  I have really fair, sensitive skin so I have always hesitated to try them.
  • @emeraldduchess I also have sensitive/fair skin. I love the masks that kiehls makes, my favorite being Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Mask. I don’t use it more than once a week though :)

  • Since I usually love what @chichiphin loves (and I have sensitive skin), Kiels Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Mask is now in my Nordstrom bag. 🤗
  • @chichiphin Going to a peel is such a game changer!!! Glad you are seeing a difference!

@emeraldduchess I used a non-toxic mask by Pure Haven. I also have very sensitive skin! Also I started using an overnight peel a few months ago and it’s wonderful! Pic in spoiler!

  • @NYTino24 your haircut looks fantastic !!

Ive been wanting to cut my hair to my shoulders for months now. I told my bf and he said ‘I thought you said you’d want long hair for your wedding?’
I agree but he hasn’t even proposed haha so I told him it would take about 2/3 years for my hair to get back to the same length. He suggests I wait ! So who knows what that means in a mans mind lol.
  • Yep, you all got me wanting to do a facial treatment tonight. I’ve been debating about using a Vitamin C/Kojic acid mild peel I have but there’s conflicting info on the inter webs about its safety in pregnancy. (Not that I am but one can never be too careful.) Anyone know whether AHAs/Glycolic/Kojic acids are safe in the TWW?

@chichiphin @brookert615 Yes to the Botox! I’m a fan but I haven’t done it in years. I recently started looking my age (no gray hairs yet but a permanent wrinkle between my brows that I can’t stand) so I asked my doc about Botox because his office advertises it. He said “Better not to with everything you’re going through and trying to get pregnant”. Bummer!!!!!!

I’m not tying to be Debbie downer here lol! I did read a study that said women report feeling much happier when on Botox/Dysport. Science doesn’t know if it’s simply because women feel better when they look in the mirror or if limiting their ability to frown or furrow their brows blocks negative feelings associated with those movements. Win-win!

AFM, I’ve made it a point to get 8 hours sleep every night this weekend and it’s helping with the chronic exhaustion. I’m also doing the free online guided meditation I mentioned in the Dailies. Here are some samples if anyone’s interested.

  • @keikilove I was told by the aesthetician that glycolic is safe in pregnancy and during breast feeding as it is just sugar cane :)

  • @chichiphin Awesome, thank you!
  • @chichiphin - ooh I haven't tried that mask but just the name makes it sound magical! Kiehl's is such a good brand.

@emeraldduchess - I got a free sample of Fresh's rose mask which is nice and seems like it would be good for sensitive skin, although I think it's $$$! I've also started using a few things from Acure which is a pretty inexpensive "natural"/clean brand...good ingredients which would probably be good for sensitive skin, and they have a couple of masks - both sheet masks and the kind that comes in a tube.
  • Thanks, everyone. The growing back process started when I got it cut. Haha... I don’t know if I’ll ever donate it again, though. My hair has changed a lot in the last few years and the grays are really coming in.

@kels0091 You can always use extensions! I did, but not for length. My hair doesn’t hold a curl well at all and it was 95 degrees F on my wedding day!
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
