I have shared something similar before, but my UO based on conversation in the Randoms thread this week:
I think pre and post wedding parties have gotten way out of hand. It seems like it's the norm now to have multiple events in addition to the wedding (engagement parties, stock the bar parties, stag and doe parties, bridal showers, groom showers, bachelorette and bachelor parties, giant rehearsal dinners that rival the wedding itself, and post wedding gift opening parties.....). But IMO the most over-the-top are these weeklong bachelor/bachelorette parties that are legit vacations requiring people to fly, chip in for a hotel, take time off work, and spend tons of money. It's way over the top and I'm over it. It reeks of entitlement and the need to be the center of attention. Whatever happened to just a fun night out with friends?! Now that, I can get behind!
@galentine I agree with you. I was a bridesmaid last year, and they started the “celebrations” two days prior. Bride wasn’t pleased that I couldn’t take 3 days off work (Friday wedding). I skipped it all, including the rehearsal. I lived 2 hours away and drove down the day of and went back home that night, also to her dismay. We left at 10pm (and they didn’t even serve dinner yet, so we took it to go).
here’s mine: Rehearsals for weddings are stupid. I didn’t have one. I don’t see the point in them- tell me where to stand, if there’s going to be any sitting, and tell me when to go. The big to-dos are over the top.
Confession: I used sick time yesterday afternoon from noon to 5 for my doctor's appointment. My doctor's appointment lasted about 45 minutes, including the time to drive there and back. I spent the rest of the afternoon getting a pedicure and going to a sports bar with my H to watch the Cubs game. 🔥🔥🔥
I have one, based on my search for summer maternity stuff (thanks, winter babies...)
1) I do not understand this “distressed” look for jeans. I wear jeans when I’m in the office, and no way would I wear that period, let alone to work. This brought to you by me trying to find crops and suspecting my AE ones won’t fit come August (I usually have to give in to the awful maternity jeans once I hit 3rd tri. I also hate maternity pants)
2- floral prints, pokadots, and stripes need to go away. Just give me plain colored blouses
@cmbt2 nnnoooooo! You'll never take my florals away!!!!
I’m your typical mousy blonde hair, grey eyed, pale as can be European descent. The florals I find on cool colored shirts are always pink/red and just look awful on me 🤷🏼♀️ Give me all the non patterned clothes
I don't mind florals, and I LOVE polka dots, but I do understand the stripe hatred. Who wants to look wider? Soooo many maternity shirts are striped. I'm already looking wider than normal, I don't need stripes making it worse!
@galentine omg so much yes to vacation bachelor/bachelorette parties. I find them rather selfish, honestly. DH has two this summer and they are just so over the top. I did a spa day and night out with my girls, locally. It was perfect.
but also I am going to FL for a bachelorette party next weekend and I am so pumped for warmth and sunshine. So I am a hypocrite lol
I kinda thought I was over this “total exhaustion” phase but today I’m worthless at the office.... the only thing keeping me going is the promise of sleeping in tomorrow.
FFFC: I'm working from home today and this morning after getting my kiddo ready and out the door, I opened my laptop to sign on for work, but then realized I was still tired. So I went back to bed for a 30 minute morning nap. I don't think I've ever napped in the morning before!
I kept reading all your posts about root beer floats. Figured I was missing out on something amazing and asked DH to purchase the supplies the other evening. FFFC it was good but not “OMG this is what I’ve been missing” good. 🤷🏻♀️
@Schumerator I get the un-American comment because I hate biscuits and gravy. I don't really like gravy at all though. Give me butter and jam for my biscuits.
@cmbt2 I don't know what gravy originates where. Buttermilk&sausage gravy for biscuits I can't stand, but take that same buttermilk gravy and stick it on country fried steak and I love it. Beef/chicken gravy vomit. MN is a fan of ham gravy on bread so my mom fixed that again vomit. and don't even try to get me to eat red eye gravy
I totally thought today was Saturday and stopped working at 1:30 so I could make it to the PO before they closed and was almost an hour late to pick up my kid from my MILs partially because of the PO detour, but mostly because of traffic.
Turns out today is in fact Friday, which meant the PO didn't close until 5:30 so I could have dropped my packages off on the way home, but I also didn't take rush hour into account for my travel time and it was SO FREAKING BAD 🤦🏼♀️😂
I literally spent almost 4 hours in the car today for a commute that is normally just over 2 hours back and forth all because I didn't look at a calendar and plan my day accordingly lol
@prpl11butterfly KFC is one of my favorites! It happens to be real close to my dr office. I also tend to schedule my appointments right around lunch. Coincidence? It think not
@kindbytealikat mmmm I love some biscuits and gravy. I like gravy on my scrambled eggs even more. I have done it since I was little. Our sunday breakfast was always biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon. My grandma and mom make the best gravy! I seriously need to learn how to do it. I also like butter and jelly on biscuits too. Usually I'll do one half with gravy and the other half with butter and jelly. Or just have 2. MMM now I want some!
