1st Trimester

Measuring small

Hello!
I went to the dr. Yesterday for the first OB check up. Should have been 9w3d according to lmp, but was measuring 6w2d. There was a heartbeat, 122 bmp, which dr said was normal for the what I was measuring. I have to go in next week for another ultrasound to confirm how far along I am.
The dr. didnt seem too concerned and I know I have very long cycles, ovulating late in the cycle, so it makes sense. But has anyone had any similar experiences??
Trying not to worry too much! I have also been very sick with this pregnancy and its discouraging adding another 3 weeks to the first trimester. Any thoughts?

Not knowing exactly when you ovulated can throw measurements off.  Doctor isnt concerned, yet, so just try and stay calm and see what happens at the next ultrasound.  Hugs

  • When did you get your BFP? The earliest you can normally turn a test is around 10DPO, or 3weeks 3days, so if you turned a test 6 weeks ago then you likely should be farther along.

But if your BFP was closer to 3 weeks ago (or even more recently - not everyone tests the earliest they can, especially if they are not tracking) then it is definitely possible that you ovulated late and your due date based on LMP is very off. It happens all the time, and you *should* know for sure based on your follow up ultrasound next week.
  • I had a similar experience a few years ago. But **TW** mine ended in a miscarriage. I knew when we conceived because it was literally the only time DH and I managed to BD during that time because it was right before we were moving and we were crazy busy. I was about 4-5 days late when I tested. When I had my first scan it said I was 6w2d but I knew even considering late implantation I had to be at least 8 weeks by then and probably closer to 9. I lost the baby the following week.

I hope you have a much better outcome than I did. If you weren't tracking, your ovulation date may just be later than you think. Fingers crossed for good news next week!
