Lets hear it - are you old fashioned and still read the newspaper? Tune into Lester Holt every evening? Facebook? What specific sources do you seek out?
I try to spread it out and attempt to seek sources that are relatively unbiased. I read a decent amount online - we have a NYT subscription and I seek out npr.org. Also an occasional reader of The Post. I also enjoy watching the Today Show while drinking my morning cup of coffee and occasionally will tune into world news with Lester Holt or David Muir in the evenings. And if my kids let me go music free in the car I’ll try to tune into some NPR on the radio - that doesn’t happen often though.
Ok maybe this is a FFTC, but I don’t actually know how to listen to NPR in the car. I’ve never really searched but always thought it was a station that came with Sirius radio or something 😂 turns out from a quick google search that it’s just a specific station.
I'm a podcast girl. (FFTC?) I get most of my news from Wait, Wait, Don't Tell me. But I do listen to a few other NPR podcasts that have current events (including their Politics Podcast). I also tend to check out Google's suggested for you articles, so what I read comes from a lot of different sources.
I’m resorting mainly to what pops up on my Apple News feed on my phone during nap time, and of course whatever pops up from NBC Nightly News on my Facebook feed. I used to religiously watch Nightly News...but now I feel like it’s generally too depressing for my kid to hear while she eats dinner 🤣
I have to read the local paper for work, but I usually get news from social media or Huffington Post. Or, most embarassingly (FFTC alert!), Buzzfeed. (*blushes furiously*)
That is to say, I will see something on Buzzfeed and then google it and click on a more reputable source, like one of the posts or NYT.
@wabash15 DH introduced me to it when we got married, and I've been obsessed ever since. I'm really jealous. One of my life goals, (I should have put this on last week's GTKY) is to surprise DH with tickets, but the only times they've been near us in the past 4 years is when we already have other commitments, you would think they would visit the DC area more often...
@wabash15 we actually had to go to Chicago and I tried to convince DH we should go early and go to WWDTM, but he didn't think it was a good idea to fly to Chicago and then immediately leave DS#1 (16 months at the time) with strangers. I actually just went to check their website again, and it looks like they finally planned another visit to the DMV area... 5 days after my due date. 🤦♀️
I prefer to read online articles and listen only to music or finance podcasts in the car! My dad used to make me listen to NPR/Rush Limbaugh in the car as a kid, and I HATE THAT GUY. My apologies if you love him, but anyone who thinks they have "knowledge on loan from God" is way too full of himself for my tastes. Blech.
But, my method is for any specific political issue/big occurence I try to read 3 articles - right, left, and as "moderate" as I can find. For regular news I tend to stick to our local news only, as they pick up AP articles on big storms or stuff that have national impact. I don't really read a ton of news that's not either weather or politics related though.
But I also listen to a radio show in the afternoons with two hosts that are all about the town news and they don't let anything get brushed under the rug.. they are also really good about following up on things like court cases that regular news just lets drop off the planet.

@heml I get The Skimm too. I also do Google News when I have some down time at work, otherwise it is the apple news app on my phone. When I had a longer commute I would do NPR, but my commute is much shorter now and sometimes I just drive in (& enjoy the) silence.
