Re: Randoms w/o 3/18

  • Last night MH and I had dinner with the family.  We agreed not to share the big news just yet.  My dad asked me what was new, and by his tone, it was obvious he meant pregnancy.  I said nothing was new, but then burst into laughter and just could not stop.  Needless to say, I think my dad knows! This is not my first laughter fit in the first trimester...I wonder if it's the hormones, haha.
  • @doglover87 Hahahaha I love that, I feel like this would be as well (it’s happened in other instances such as “who’d you get for secret Santa” and I have the person asking). We’re you around the whole family when he asked or in private?

I went to my friends wedding this weekend where I was a bridesmaid. MH and I got to the rehearsal dinner after two of my other friends (also bridesmaids) and when we sat down with them were immediately asked if we wanted a drink. MH ordered a beer and I said I’m okay for now thinking since we just walked in that wasn’t weird. The second I turned back towards my friends after saying this, one of them just gave me a look like she knew. She kept making jokes about me not drinking so finally I got her to come with me to the bathroom so I could tell her she was right but to shush! Lol. I told the bride and my other friend later that evening because I knew they’d figure out on wedding day and I wanted that day to be all about the bride.

  • @kopp5988 luckily it was just MH and my dad in the room at the time.  Phew.

I feel like this will be me at the next wedding I have to go to!  I agree - I wouldn't want to take attention away from the bride.
  • @doglover87 that's so funny about your giggling! MH is the same way. He gets all giggly. Our elderly neighbor was chatting with him last night as he was grilling some food and she asked him how I was doing and if I was pregnant (which, wtf btw). And he just laughed and blurted out, YES, SHE IS!

@kopp5988 I feel like people are way more observant than I give them credit for. I am usually so self involved that I don't notice what anyone is drinking or doing lol

  • @kopp5988 I'm glad the wedding went well and I agree, best to tell beforehand so the wedding day can be all about the bride! I'm such a nosy nellie that I always pay attention to if people are drinking or not but some people are nicer than me and don't do that :)

  • Speaking of laughing, last pregnancy I was at a restaurant and i accidentally let a fart slip. Well I started laughing so hard I started peeing my pants! So I was farting while snort laughing and peeing at the same time! Like WTF, it was so freaking embarrassing. My whole family was with me and they couldn’t stop laughing. Luckily it was my sister who was waiting on us and I told her she had to go get some extra napkins cuz I peed myself. The look she gave me was priceless. Needless to say I hope that doesn’t happen to me again!

  • @xilovemybabiesx that would have been so embarrassing. I'm glad you were with your family.

When I was pregnant with DS2 I was about 38 weeks along. I went to go sit in a chair and my older DS went to move the chair at the same time. I ended up falling on the floor and the force of the fall made made my bladder just explode with pee all at once. I thought my water had broke because it honestly didn't feel like I peed. So I went into my midwife office and they checked to see if my water broke. Nope, I had peed myself. It was so embarrassing. I went into labor 2 weeks later.
  • Ooh man, I didn't pee myself last pregnancy, but this time around my muscles are not as strong... gotta start working in those kegels I guess.
  • @creamcheeseplease I have a damaged muscle from giving birth to DD2. She flew so fast down the birth canal that she really messed something up. So now, every now and then, I have a muscle spasm that starts low and then radiates up to my uterus and then causes my uterus to contract. It is the most excruciating pain. It hurts worse than my actual labors. I have had to go to a pelvic floor therapist. All that to say, I'm only suppose to do 30 kegels a day so it doesn't aggravate that muscle and spasm more than usual.
  • @emeraldcity1214 oh wow, that is crazy and sounds super painful. I hope it doesn't happen often. I'm glad you saw a specialist. My mom had issues a couple years ago and saw a pelvic floor therapist as well. She is always after me to do it even though I don't have serious issues right now. I may look into it sometime after this one is born.
  • @creamcheeseplease I blame my husband. He delivered her. He didn't slow her down at all. He literally just caught her. I don't think he was fully prepared to be delivering her though because it just sorta happened.
  • Toward the end of my last pregnancy, any time I sneezed I peed myself. H and joked about my "snissing" often. I'm so looking forward to that experience again (not). lol

  • All I've been able to think about food wise for the past 2 days is spring rolls. I really want to get them tonight, but I think I have to wait until Friday after work. Such a weird craving for me.
  • @xilovemybabiesx @gumby22c Omg guys!! All this talk of peeing your pants when you're pregnant is really freaking me out. Hehe. I gotta keep up with my kegels for sure.

@emeraldcity1214 that sounds so painful!! Glad you found a specialist though & I hope it doesn't happen too often for you.

@creamcheeseplease mmmm spring rolls sound really good right now

  • @kopp5988 I went to brunch with my group of closest girlfriends who all know that we did IVF. DH and I have agreed not to tell anyone the news yet except our parents. But I'm convinced the girls all know because I wasn't drinking and got up to pee 3 times during the meal! Lol!
  • @erins_321 oh yeah I’m sure they’re all thinking it! Anyone who doesn’t get a brunch drink I’m assuming is pregnant lol
  • I think I’m getting a cold ugh! My throat started hurting a bit yesterday afternoon and overnight it was rough, also been sneezing quite a bit. Now I’m eating preggie pops for MS and as throat lozenges. Really hoping it’s just a random post nasal drip and doesn’t turn into a cold!

@creamcheeseplease omg I saw spring rolls mentioned and now I have a serious craving. Sooo good!

  • I hope you don't get a cold @kopp5988! I hate late in the season colds.

@unicornsthecat so good! I've pretty much decided I'm getting two orders of spring rolls tomorrow night for takeout after work.
  • I went out last night and DH took care of the kids. He usually takes care of dinner and I usually clean up afterwards. Well, I came home last night and all the dishes from dinner were just waiting on me. He ordered take out for goodness sakes. How could he not just clean that up?
  • @emeraldcity1214 so frustrating! I get the whole I cook you clean but he didn’t even cook!

So I’m pretty tall (5’8”) but it’s mostly due to the fact that I have a really long torso, my legs don’t look like stumps or anything but I’m definitely more torso. So when I buy shirts they’re always just long enough, mostly due to my being between an A and B cup size (less boob to shorten the shirt). Well I’ve gained at least a half cup size already, if not full cup and now half of my shirts aren’t long enough! And the other half I can barely lift my arms over my head without stomach showing, ughhhh I need to go shopping so I can stop wearing the same 3 shirts that still fit over and over.
  • @kopp5988 I complained about his lack of home cooked meals last night. I told him I'm sick of take out and he needs to actually cook. 😂 I have no shame! He prefers to cook and I'm always asking what's for dinner and when is he going to get started on that. 😂
  • @kopp5988 tall girl problems 😂 I'm 6'0" and always struggle to find tops that are long enough and fit properly. Also pants are a struggle, since not everywhere carries longs.

  • @emeraldcity1214 :D I wish my husband could cook! He only makes microwave meals. He is of the opinion if it takes longer to make it than to eat it then it’s not worth it, but he’ll eat it if I cook it of course 🙄 He’s gonna have to learn now that I’m pregnant!

@gumby22c dang so you’ve got pant problems and shirt problems! I guess I shouldn’t complain about jusy shirt problems then! Hahaha
  • @emeraldcity1214 cracking up about those dishes. I’d give major side eye and attitude.

I feel so scatter brained lately. My job is really trying my patience. I was actually planning on finding something new before I found out I was KU. Now I don’t want to find something new since I won’t get enough time off, but I don’t want to be here either. Luckily my health insurance is through MH so I’m not absolutely tied to staying. But I’m so conflicted!! Ughhhhh so many adult choices!!

  • @emeraldcity1214 ugh, can't believe he left those dishes! MH doesn't ever do dishes it seems. Also dishes are my absolute least favorite chore.

@mvc003 my job is also driving me crazy. I've been actively and seriously job hunting for a couple months now. I'd keep your eyes open, you never know what might come up. If I found something and got a good offer, I would probably jump ship. I doubt it will happen, especially as I get further along, but a girl can dream.

The other thing that i'm trying to start angling for, is that a woman in my department is retiring at the end of the year, and I would totally take her job if offered as I think they would offer me permanent employment then (I am currently on a contract now and have no benefits of a permanent employee). I am probably going to flat out tell my supervisor I am interested in this job in a couple weeks. I know he hasn't done anything about filling the spot. I think this is my best bet honestly since I know they like me here so far.
  • @creamcheeseplease Man, it's so complicated!! If I got a good offer, I'd be excited, but they'd have to have a really good maternity leave policy for me to take it. You're right - a girl can dream though!! :)  Honestly, I'm so miserable that I may just quit in the early fall and find something after the baby is born so I'm not freaking out about not getting enough leave.

OoOoh you should totally angle for that job! That would be awesome to become a permanent employee. It would be easier for them to fill it too so it's a win-win. I think it's a great idea! FX that your convo goes well in a couple weeks!!

  • I slipped going down the stairs this morning and landed hard on my butt so I've been limping around all day and sitting on an ice pack. The bruise is going to be spectacular.
  • @emlettuce ouch!! I hope your butt feels better :)
  • @emeraldcity1214 omg! That had to have been so embarrassing! At what point did you realize you didn’t break your water and that it was pee? After they checked you?

The things that happen to us when we are pregnant!

  • @xilovemybabiesx I found out when she checked me. I had been waiting to go into labor because I was already dilated to 6 (I was a 7 when labor finally started). When I fell, it was just an explosion of water all over me. So I assumed it was just my water. Then at my 40 week appointment my midwife was getting concerned that I had actually broke my water and the test just didn't show a positive for it. The baby was fine though and my fluid levels were where they should be.
  • Anyone else love breakfast foods when pregnant? I’ve eaten breakfast stuff 3 meals in a row because it’s all I want right now. English muffins are life.

  • @Kurtni I love breakfast all the time! Pregnant, not pregnant, doesn’t matter! I’m probably having breakfast for dinner tomorrow actually.
  • @creamcheeseplease ^^^ this is me, too. Pregnant or not, I could have eggs at every meals.
  • @LoneStar21416 @creamcheeseplease @Kurtni normally I’m with you ladies but I haven’t been able to eggs for 2 weeks now. But I’m all aboard for waffles!
  • @kopp5988 last weekend I made a bunch of waffles and froze the extras. It’s been great to just grab and go during the week! I will definitely do that again this weekend.
  • @Kurtni yes!  Breakfast is my go to, since I'm not in the mood for things I usually enjoy.  Cream of wheat has been great for me because it's bland and filling.  So when I'm feeling nauseous but also hungry, I have that.
  • @creamcheeseplease I ate freezer ones all last week cause I’m lazy hahaha. I’m impressed by you making them yourself! Maybe it will motivate me to do that... maybe...
  • Donuts 🍩 are life right now. Does that count as breakfast? I have also been enjoying a banana for breakfast. Usually I’m not to into bananas but for some reason I am craving them.

  • Mmm a donut sounds really good too!

My supervisor had told me yesterday he would be working from home today, but I see that his instant messaging status has him here in the building. I don't know if he just forgot to change it. But ya know, I like to know where he is so I know if I can completely slack off or if I should try to fake it for a bit ;)
