Re: Group 1 Check-in (Aug 1-7) w/o 03/17

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 20 weeks today.  Half way there!

Baby is the size of a(n): banana

    Upcoming Appointments: week 24

How are you feeling?: good.  This week was exhausting at work,  but I canceled all plans this weekend and that's helped.

    Rants/Raves:

    Questions:

GTKY: Opinions on st Patrick's day?  Love it,  hate it? Somewhere in between?  Not a big fan.  It was the one day of the year I was uncomfortable walking around my university campus. It seemed to turn all the students into animals. As a kid or post-uni adult I just didn't really care about it much.

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 8.5/20 weeks today!

Baby is the size of a(n): Banana

Upcoming Appointments: I have my a/s scan on Wednesday!

How are you feeling?: Headaches are kicking my butt right now and I am overly sensitive to a lot of smells but other than that, I am feeling pretty good overall!

Rants/Raves: Rant- Last night DH made a horrible smelling chicken concoction. I got sick and had to open all the windows, he thought I was just being dramatic. I wish I could give him this side effect for a few days!

Questions:  Anyone in this group that is a STM+ mom that had issues BFing the first time but success the second? Or plans to try again this time around? I had a very low supply and just couldn't produce with DS, but I would really like to try again.

GTKY: Opinions on st Patrick's day?  Love it,  hate it? Somewhere in between?  I don't have strong feelings. My dad always made it a big deal so I have fond memories of the day with him throughout the years but I don't do much for it now that he isn't with us.
  • @BigBadWolf12 I agree with you on the animal thing! We went to dinner this weekend for a friend's birthday and the streets were just crawling with college kids who could barely walk on their own!
  • @cam1027 no personal experience but I have heard of moms having drastically different BF journeys with different babies,  including having an easier time with later babies.

@BigBadWolf12 Yes, let's keep this one going!

@Cam1027 I didn't have issues the first time, but I am in training to be a volunteer breastfeeding counselor and apparently what happens with one baby has no  correlation with what will happen for baby #2.  Also as an aside, there was someone in my previous BMB that had trouble with her first 3 kids and was successfully able to BF her 4th.

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 20+2  8/3

Baby is the size of a(n): Banana

Upcoming Appointments: I had my anatomy scan.  Everything looks great and baby girl is apparently 13 ounces.

How are you feeling?: So much better!

Rants/Raves: This warmer weather has me wanting to sit outside with a nice cold beer. Too bad for me!

    Questions:  Nothing

GTKY: Opinions on st Patrick's day?  Love it,  hate it? Somewhere in between?  When I was in my 20s I'd go out and celebrate, but I don't really care about it.  I bought my daughter a cute St. Patty's day shirt since we are part Irish, but that was the extent of it this year.
  • @BigBadWolf12 - I like these weekly check ins :)

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 19 wk + 6 days

Baby is the size of a(n): mango

Upcoming Appointments: 3/28 for a regular OB appointment

How are you feeling?: Pretty good. A bit tired - my commute to and from work is starting to take a toll on me (approx 2 hours door to door). I think I need to speak with my manager about possibly working from home 1-2 days a week.

    Rants/Raves:

Questions: When do doctors typically confirm if you have an anterior placenta? I'm probably being impatient and anxious, but I'm thinking I may have an anterior placenta - I'm almost 20 weeks and have felt no movement. I wanted to ask the technician during my a/s, but she was kind of mean.

GTKY: Opinions on st Patrick's day?  Love it,  hate it? Somewhere in between? I used to hate it when I lived in the city - the block I lived on smelled like beer. Now that I live in the country, I don't even realize it's St. Patrick's day
  • @BigBadWolf12 I'm for keeping this check in going.. also I'm glad you had a great A/S and the twins were just a dream lol

@Cam1027 no experience with BF since these will be my first, but I hope you get all the helpful info you need and are able to try again

@mkrel yay for the great A/S and also for training as a BF counsellor

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 20 weeks

Baby is the size of a(n): bananas

    Upcoming Appointments: A/S on Wednesday

How are you feeling?: Better than ever but sooo bloated almost every morning

Rants/Raves: Small gender reveal party planned by my friends coming up this Saturday.. excited

    Questions:

GTKY: Opinions on st Patrick's day?  Love it,  hate it? Somewhere in between
    Don't know anything about this
  • mkrelmkrel member
@sw1122 I was told at my ultrasounds.  I would just ask your OB.  If you already had the anatomy scan I'm sure you could call and leave a message that you are concerned about lack of movement and ask if that could be the cause.  My OB always tells me that is what he is there for (questions and to calm nerves) so I wouldn't hesitate to ask!

@sw1122 good luck arranging a work-from-home schedule! I was the same as @mkrel - they told me at the u/s where the placenta was.

@nimo-ad exciting plans this weekend!  How will it be revealed?  and will it be a surprise for everyone or just the guests?

Edit: sounds like we will keep this weekly checkin going  :)

  • @BigBadWolf12 I like the checkins - lets keep it going :)  Thanks for starting it every week!!

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 20w4d  8/2

Baby is the size of a(n): an Endive (??) or a banana

Upcoming Appointments: Mar 25 for the rest of the anatomy scan and the fetal echo.  March 26 for a regular check up

How are you feeling?:  I'm feeling good except that I have gained ~6lbs since my last check up and that is NOT good... I was doing so well on not gaining weight - and bc I'm overweight to begin with the doc did not want me gaining much at all.. the only thing I have changed since last check up is I picked up coffee in the mornings... I also feel like I swell at night though.  My wedding rings are SO tight I cant get them off when I first wake up (which is when I weigh my self) and then now at 8:30am, I can remove them just fine.  weird.

Rants/Raves: Umm probably should just refer to above.

    Questions:

GTKY: Opinions on st Patrick's day?  Love it,  hate it? Somewhere in between?  Probably somewhere in between.  I don't like getting Sh** faced so I've never really been into that crowed, but anything where I can dress funky and sport a specific color and accessories - I'm all in haha.

@moon1417 Are you drinking enough water? Upping your intake my help with the swelling.
  • @mkrel No I haven't been! That was something I was thinking about earlier - I def slowed down recently when I've been busy at work.   Going to fill up now, thanks for the reminder :)

  • @BigBadWolf12 weeell, I managed to go in for the A/S today, everything looks great with both babies...so the plan was for MH and I to go together, have the ultrasound tech tell him, then he would tell one of my friends who is doing the planning, then everyone else, myself included would find out on Saturday... everything was going according to plan untiiil, they were completely unable to get a good view for one of the babies..😂 so we might just end up having a half reveal this Saturday lol!

Lol a half reveal sounds fun too ;) are you going to try to find out the second baby's sex or stay green for them? Haha I never considered the possibility of being team green AND knowing at the same time :p

    Eta tag @nimo-ad

@BigBadWolf12 Haha I would have walked right back into the ultrasound room to check again if it was possible! I'll go back in a few weeks time to try again.. I am just not capable of being team green.. but for now we settle for a half reveal 😁😁

    Edited spelling mistake
  • @BigBadWolf12 +1 for weekly check-ins, I might not do it every week (I feel weird when I have nothing new to report from the previous week) but it's nice to see everyone's progress!

@sw1122 - Yes!  I noticed my US technician took note of my placenta placement in her summary of my AS (while I was putting my pants on) - so I'm guessing the placenta placement should be in your medical records!

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 20w1d 8/5

Baby is the size of a(n): UO - I HATE comparing my LO to vaguely sized pieces of fruit!

Upcoming Appointments: Had AS today - everything looks great!  Self-diagnosis of anterior placenta confirmed (which makes me feel so much less freaked out).  Also still team green - although starting to waver.  Next is the glucose screen in 4 weeks... ehh

How are you feeling?: Good, except for missing wine and having SUPER dry skin on my face - any recommendations?

Rants/Raves: Ugh, I just feel so much better after the AS - I've been so nervous recently because I've been feeling so "normal"/coupled with being this far along and feeling no movement (on top of other moms - including my own - telling me I SHOULD be feeling something at this point), and I was really getting into some dark thoughts.

    Questions:

GTKY: Opinions on st Patrick's day?  Love it,  hate it? Somewhere in between? Somewhere in between, especially during a year I can't drink.
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days:
    8/5, 20+1
Baby is the size of a(n):
    Banana
    Upcoming Appointments:
    AS on Friday!
    How are you feeling?:
    Great!
    Rants/Raves:
I've been feeling him move a lot the past few days.
    Questions:

GTKY: Opinions on st Patrick's day?  Love it,  hate it? Somewhere in between?
I used to really enjoy going to the parade in Dallas in college, but now, it's just an excuse to wear my favorite color.
  • @becks68 glad you're feeling better after the anatomy scan.  There's such a range of normal for feeling movement.  That sucks that others are telling you what *should* be happening.

also, feel free to skip the size question entirely lol but are other size comparisons weird or just the fruit / veggies?  Ovia app has 4 "themes" you can choose from to compare sizes.  Ex. Baby is the size of a paper airplane

  • @nimo-ad LOL at the “half reveal”

@becks68 GAH, I’ve been missing wine SO much the last few weeks. I’ll have a sip of MH’s here and there, but it’s not the same.

@hillaryo14 I lived in Dallas a couple of years and live in Austin now, and I’m embarrassed I’ve never been to the big Greenville St. patrick’s Day parade

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days:
    Aug 2, 20+6

Baby is the size of a(n): Banana

    Upcoming Appointments:
Anatomy scan last week went well. My placenta is low, which worries me a bit bit apparently it commonly moves higher. Silver lining is that I’ll get another ultrasound at 28 weeks to check

    How are you feeling?:
    Really good

    Rants/Raves:
Got back from our vacation in London yesterday. Felt great even with all the walking

    Questions:

GTKY: Opinions on st Patrick's day?  Love it,  hate it? Somewhere in between?
I don’t have strong feelings either way
  • @heml I'm with you on the low placenta.  Hopefully they move up for us!  I'm hoping for a vbac and a low placenta would eliminate that option,  I think.  (My first cs was fine,  so I'm not against another,  just would like to try for vbac if possible :) )
