3D ultrasounds... would you do it?

So... DH works in the hospital we plan to deliver at and a friend who works there in the hospital too is an ultrasound tech. She offered to give us a free 3D/4D ultrasound. I really want to do it but DH is concerned about doing an ultrasound without our doctor's consent first, I highly doubt she would care. Also, DH is all paranoid about "exposing" the baby to another ultrasound. Do you think I'm being under-paranoid or is he being over-paranoid? Would you take a free ultrasound from a friend?

Ditto. i got a 3D face shot when I went for my big u/s. I never would have done it otherwise, but it was amazing to see the face, not just some black and white blob.

I'm pretty sure that the last 20 years have proven ultrasound technology to be rather safe... 10 years ago when I was pg with DD, you could pay a woman to give you one out of her home. Doctors didn't seem to care.

Lots of people do it. As long as your friend is a licensed tech and your doctor approves, I'd go for it.

Ask your doctor first if it would make your DH feel better, but hell yeah I'd do it!

I had 3D as part of my Level II yesterday. The face shots are priceless! Still couldn't get the gender though. But, I love the little face.

I MAY pay for one later on for gender....maybe. We'll see.

I think that's what I'll do. DH can be a little bit anal sometimes, this would probably help him.

I want to see her little face! I love those ultrasounds and I love free.

I don't think your doctor would have an issue with it, but why can't you just ask?

I would do it.

We are doing a 3D u/s to find out the sex. We'll have to pay for it, but I want the keepsake.

I wouldn't. BUT, not because I don't think it's safe but because the 3D/4D u/s weird me out.

If you want to, go for it. Honestly u/s kind of creep me out so I'm not sure what I would do but that's probably just me. I don't like that they look like aliens in there lol.

Ultrasounds are simply waves of sound that bounce back and the machine interprets them. It's almost exactly like echolocation. You're baby will hear sounds from outside the womb anyway. Free rocks!! Definately do it.
