I had 3 days of gallbladder pain with my last pregnancy (#4), but it was much later in the pregnancy, and ended as quickly as it started. Now, I’m experiencing a ton of bloating, burping, gas, and pain. Has anyone tried doing a gallbladder cleanse?
I would not attempt any sort of. Cleanse without consulting your ob and they will. Like nix it. Gallbladder problems are. Unfortunately common in pregnancy . I hope. It passes quickly like last time
I had to have my gallbladder removed about 4 years ago (not pregnancy related, it was just dying on its own for funsies) and I was dealing with all those symptoms while waiting to get diagnosed and then waiting for my surgery date. The best way I found to deal with it was by reducing the fat in my diet really significantly. Your gallbladder helps digest fat so sticking to more carbs and protein may help. Like @Pooka8 said though, I wouldn't make any major diet changes without talking to your OB. My super low fat diet was perfectly fine for me at that time, but I have no clue if it'd be safe during pregnancy.
Thanks for the responses. I’ve been drinking apple juice like a fiend to soften the gallstones and it has taken care of the pain completely. I’ll see what I can do with my diet now and hope that I’m over the worst of it.
Update: I’ve been on the gallbladder diet for 24 hours and feel like a new person. Two days ago, I looked 20 weeks pregnant. Today, I could pass for not pregnant.
@momofmanyinthemitten I know this is an old post but wondering what you found helpful to eat on the "gallbladder diet." I am having problems and hoping to nix it before it gets worse. Ow!!
It ended up not being a problem for me. I drank a ton of apple juice for several days and the pain went away. My friend is currently on a very low-fat diet that is working for her.
