@mamaber2204@septoctkids I think there's a difference between some good-natured snark and being downright mean. And I don't really think any of us are the downright mean girls, which is really nice and does keep people from being uncomfortable.
I think we are an exceptionally nice bmb! I make it a policy not to respond when there’s an obvious place where that particular topic goes. I don’t know - it doesn’t seem that hard ? It doesn’t upset me THAT much but if you want to be a part of a group, you have to be ready to honor the group norms/ rules/ customs.
Definitely a difference between a bit of snark and being mean. We're definitely not a mean board. As for the clutter, it makes sense not to respond more than once so that those posts can move to the bottom; however, there will always be people who do what they want, regardless of group norms. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Ladiiiiies I bought these pants in taupe this weekend and am wearing them at work today and feel like I’m in pajamas!! They have a phenomenal elastic waistband and are not maternity so they’re actually still cute and SO comfortable especially while bumpin/blumpin!!! Going to buy 50 more pairs now...
Thoughts on announcing to my sisters via a group text picture? Both live far from us and I won’t be seeing either anytime soon. Is it too impersonal to just send a text picture? Should I opt for FaceTime?
FTR - Second kid for us and I’m planning on just putting DS in a big brother shirt. TBH, it would prolly be easier for them to read in a picture since he’s basically a blur. 🤣
@sunshine2417 I basically lived in pants like those my entire pregnancy with DS! Even toward the end when I was huge, I could just fold the waistband down in the front and they still fit/looked fine! (I loathe over-bellies, especially in the summer when everything is sweaty and itchy.) Those look like a great deal too, thank you!! Also, how thick are they- is there any chance of being see-through?
@lillywonderland I think a picture would be fine, but I guess it depends on how close you all are/how you normally communicate? I'm an only child, so I'm probably not the best at sibling advice haha. FWIW, we plan on telling H's brother via text.
@lillywonderland I just text my brothers last night to share the news with them. I think they would have thought it was weird if I called them up or facetimed them because I never do that. It was no big deal. But they are boys lol

@blitzybee yeah it's already nuts at our house! This wind pushed our huge grill across our patio and our power keeps flickering. Hopepfully it loses steam sooner rather than later! We're definitely not going anywhere today and H and DS are home with me safe and cozy! Hope you and @mamaber2204 are too!

@RedBreast35 the taupe aren’t see through at all, so I imagine the navy wouldn’t be either. The white ones seemed a little sheer, so I decided to steer away from those because I am always a fashion snafu waiting to happen! They didn’t have navy in the store I went to but I’m definitely ordering them online! I did soooo much over the belly stuff with DS but with this pregnancy I hate OTB so far.
@zuuls_mom@blitzybee Yes, the three of us are safe at home! I'm very happy that my office preemptively closed today. My last employer would probably still be open and expecting all hands on deck! Our power has been flickering all day, too. I hope it stays on! A friend in Westminster has been without power for hours already! I'm happy that our internet is out, so I can't access the network to work (bumpin' on my phone).
@zuuls_mom and @mamaber2204 The lights have been flickering, but grateful the power hasn’t gone out... yet. Here’s hoping the power stays on, because it’s cold outside!!!
On another note, I am silently freaking out because my stupid phone didn’t push a voicemail through from Monday from an “unknown” caller. Well, I restarted my phone, and the voicemail came up, and it was the clinic that has my NIPT results, but they are closed due to the weather. GAH!!!!!!!!
@blitzybee hope they are there tomorrow! I'm thinking of you!
@zuuls_mom@blitzybee and @mamaber2204 glad you're all safe and hope you don't lose power! Texted my MIL (in CO) and her work didn't cancel this morning but did send them home early, and now her car is stuck in a snowdrift not far from her house!
that sucks that your mother-in-law’s car is stuck in a snow bank! The poor thing! The only people that I know that went to work today were healthcare workers. I was able to convince my husband to work from home because his commute is horrendous! 60’s are popping up in our forecast soon ☀️. I think I speak for us all that we are ready for some Spring time!
We started watching the Formula 1 documentary series on Netflix - we know nothing about F1 but it's sucked us in. It's the opposite of relaxing to watch (cars crashing all the time, the view from the cars driving the Singapore circuit at night is like a nightmare I'd have), so I don't know why it's so hard to turn off!
@RedBreast35 I'm at work and, most unfortunately, pie-less.
@ternsetc oh wow, that sounds like a wild ride! see what I did there?
@lillywonderland I thought it got better as the episodes went on. It took me a while to get over the weirdness of the main character's mouth haha. It was a good, mindless watch.
Are there any Instant Pot users/lovers here? I got one for Christmas and have only made a couple of things. I'm looking for any good websites or books for recipes.
@RedBreast35 We have a local place around my work that makes British pasties. They are amazing and I was craving one so bad today. Even tho it's low 40's and raining, I still walked the 6 blocks to go get one. They make them where you have to eat them a certain way because one end is filled with apples. So you eat your main pasty and then you get done and you have apple pie there waiting for you. So I guess technically I celebrated pi day! lol I'm so glad it's getting warmer out so I can go get my pasty fix!

@lillywonderland@themadcamel I can't really say I thought they got better as time went on bc I found it pretty funny right from the start. LOL at the mouth thing. I about died when her coworker made a joke and imitated her lips (like, SUPER WELL, tbh). Hysterical.
@LJMoon6 PASTIES ARE THE BEST!!! I lived in London during grad school and it was awesome. Pasties everywhere!! I’ve tried making them at home, but they don’t taste as good. 😢
@RedBreast35 things are so much better today! Snow everywhere and our neighborhood streets are a total shit show, but it's sunny and it's slowly melting! Still windy AF which should make our drive to WY tomorrow SUPER fun.

@ternsetc I find Formula 1 so fascinating but haven't watched a lot.
@themadcamel We don't have fancy recipes but rice and hardboiled eggs are so easy in it. The shells fall right off the eggs. I know DH even starts ribs in it now to be quick.
Ladies I hate this time in pregnancy...I feel good but too soon for feeling baby and I look noticeably pregnant now at 14weeks and however many days. Well I still haven't told my boss and want to today but keep chickening out. Like the words just won't come out of my mouth. I feel like putting it out there more and more makes it real and this scares the living shit out of me. Ahhhh….I def need to say something today thou I am off tomorrow and won't be back in the office until late next week.
@supermom34482 I don’t think you have to tell them if you aren’t ready. I had to tell earlier than I wanted to because I need a fetal radiation badge and my boss needs to coordinate our leaves and possibly get a travel tech. But I probably wouldn’t have said anything until next week if I hadn’t needed to.
@supermom34482 I totally understand your hesitation. It's really scary putting that out in the universe when you still don't feel 100% confident. I've come to the conclusion I will not feel confident until she is here and safe in my arms. I thought I'd feel better once 2nd tri rolled around and I have been an anxious mess. Don't feel like you have to tell anyone if you're not ready! I know it's hard to hide it, but if you don't feel comfortable, don't make yourself feel uncomfortable for the sake of your boss!

Thanks ladies...I feel like since I'm showing already how can I really hide it. DH keeps asking when we're making it "Facebook official"...I could give a rats behind on informing a bunch of people we don't regularly talk about us expecting. I didn't tell him anyway so we shall see how I feel next week
@supermom34482 tell your boss whenever you feel comfortable to! I told my boss and coworkers at 12 weeks because I haaaad to wear maternity clothes and I’m just not good at hiding when things aren’t okay. I was half happy I did and half super nervous. Right now I’m having complications and feel good that my boss knows and can be supportive, but also hate that everyone knows in case things turn sour :-/
Hi all! Sorry I was MIA for a few days. Our internet (but not power, thank goodness) was out during the storm, which made my "work from home during the blizzard" days super relaxing. Then I had a whirlwind of a day today - dentist appts for me and DS, all-hands work meeting off-site, rush to 15 minute meeting, rush to MFM for NT ultrasound (all looks good and got some great pics of baby!), then back to work to tell my boss (went well!) and try to get work done. Whew! I'm tired.
By the way, started Workin' Moms and can't stop laughing. The bear scene! Oh man.
I need to have a bitter moment. I've shared before that MH and I started our TTC journey with a trip to London and Ireland. We naively thought we would be coming home KU with a surprise souvenir. Well that didn't happen and we ended up struggling for nearly 2 years. A friend on FB, who I haven't seen or talked to in 10 years, did basically the same trip to London and Ireland just a week after us. They did come home with that surprise souvenir and had their first son last year. Well I just saw on FB that they are expecting their second... in September. I can't help but be bitter.

@LJMoon6 those times are always SO hard. For two of my three MC's last year, one was due in August and the other in November. My brother had their son in August, and my cousin had a son in November. I can't help but always look at those babies and think how we should have a baby one of those ages too. It didn't help that my brother continuously mentioned how this one "wasn't planned" and was "such a surprise".... I wanted to scream "Well we had planned to have one the same month so you can just give him to us, okay? Thanks!!!" I try to remember those experiences now that we're pregnant and be more sensitive when mentioning it to others, as you never know what other people might be going through behind closed doors.
@LJMoon6 girl, you feel what you feel!! IF sucks and it’s not like your feelings from the last two years automatically leave just because you’re KU! ❤️
@LJMoon6 I totally feel you. Our stories are kind of similar. We went to Norway in Sept. 2017 and I fully expected to come back with a little souvenir. We struggled for the next year and a half (so two total). It was so hard to see friends get pregnant then, but honestly, it is still hard now. I still feel those pangs of jealousy... Why was it so easy for them? I try to check myself, but we are human, and I think those feelings are normal considering what you've been through.
@LJMoon6 It really is so hard not to feel those jealousy pangs. I’m bracing myself for a couple friends to have their May babies and am definitely going to have that “it should be me too” feeling. It’s a gut punch no matter what. Sending love your way
