I thought you ladies might find these amusing...They are just some of the rude comments I've received since telling people at work that I am pregnant.
1. I didn't know you were financially stable enough to afford a baby. 2. You don't even own a house! 3. You'll have to move to a bigger place now. 4. Walk over to my desk. I want to show you something. You can use the exercise now anyway. 5. This is bad news...Even though you say no, I know you'll quit when the baby is born.
I wasn't offended since I wouldn't expect anything less from the person who said most of these. He's my manager.
Re: A list of rude comments...auth. by a newbie
WOW. You could always zing him back with a " at least I have the people skills to get some action/laid - or whatever term he would most understand"... but it would probably be a bad idea with the sexual harrassment and all..
BUT WOW, really, WOW....
Wow! I would say throat punch him-
but you might get fired!
When I told my manager she said to me "why in the world would you want to get pregnant?"
HOLY CRAP. I'm sorry girl.
Ditto. Can he/she really get away with that? Some of that's bordering on?harassment. ?
I've worked for him for the last 7 yrs. I know what he's like...no filter, no common sense. Luckily we have the type of relationship where I can go back at him...and I do!
Whoa there cowboy! I don't think I could bite my tongue hard enough from saying some nasty retort in response to those comments.
P.S. Having a house is NOT a requirement for having a baby. End of story. (Note: DH and I rent an apartment by choice.)
First of all, I don't know where you think you got your screen name, but I am Marc's girl. See pic for proof.
(kidding)
Secondly- what a dweeb. It's lucky that you can go back at him, but coming from an HR perspective myself, document these conversations. Just in case. You never know.
wow...so surprised your manager actually IS a manager with his people skills
if it gets worse - i'd report it
ditto
