Re: Group 1 (Oct 1-8) Check-In W/O 2/25

  • @elle-0409 It's completely normal. I haven't experienced loss before, but I have/had significant anxiety over it. I know that I calmed down at certain milestones. Anxiety went way down after the NT scan for me both times because it signified the end of first trimester.

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: Oct 2nd, 8 weeks 5 days

Baby is the size of a(n): Raspberry or a 2x2 lego brick

Upcoming Appointments: March 8th for NIPT blood work.  March 21st for 12 week check up.  I found a boutique ultrasound place that will do ultrasounds as early as 10 weeks, so I'll probably be doing one of those as well.

How are you feeling?:  This morning was rough, a really bad stomachache.  I text my boss and let him know I was going to be in late.  I usually just take some pepto and feel great but apparently pepto is a "no-no".  All weekend I felt pretty good, too, just a little sleepy.

Rants/Raves: Rant, I left my cell phone at home and it makes me feel naked without it.  How weird is that.  I don't even use it that much while I'm at work.  Rave, I got to hear the little raspberry's heartbeat yesterday with a home doppler!  Such an amazing sound.

Questions:  I'm not typically a breakfast eater but if I don't want to get queasy I have to eat in the mornings.  What do you eat for breakfast?  Trying to get out of the "yogurt and granola" slump but can't think of anything else.

GTKY: What is your go-to karaoke song?  I don't karaoke :)  But I do sing in my car!  Give me all the pop hits from the 90's and 2000's!

@elle-0409 I am in the same boat but the anxiety comes and goes.  I continually tell myself "Today, you are pregnant."

  • @amacanadian here, insurance does not cover amnio unless other
tests show a higher risk or positive for something. Same with the CVS. I did a NIPT last time and will again this time. Result times vary, but generally, 1-2 weeks once they receive the blood samples.

@emily1052 a word of warning about doing the NIPT at 10w- you may get inconclusive results. It’s a pretty common thing when the tests are drawn before 10w because there is not always enough fetal cells in your blood.

and yes, pepto is a big no no because it contains aspirin (or so I’ve been told). I’ve been eating soft pretzels for breakfast lately (not a breakfast eater)

Baby is the size of a(n): Raspberry

Upcoming Appointments: 2/27 - First OB appt

How are you feeling?: Nauseous & Exhausted

Rants/Raves: This has got to be the worst case of nausea that I’ve had with my other 3 children. It’s all day long and I don’t throw up. I’m just super queasy.

    Questions:

GTKY: What is your go-to karaoke song? Islands in the Stream 😂 Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers.
  • @elle-0409, literally no clue how I've survived without an appointment for so long. Lots of banging my head against the wall and staring at the clock, mentally WILLING the hands to move faster. LOL

@cmbt2, I'm jealous of your soft pretzels. That sounds amazing.

    @amacanadian, enjoy the convention!

@emily1052, love the 2x2 Lego brick size ❤

@asiyahyounger, Islands in the Stream is a GREAT karaoke song choice! Love it!

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days:
    Oct 6ish --- 8w1d

Baby is the size of a(n):
    Peanut M&M 💛

    Upcoming Appointments:
YES!!!!!! FINALLY I HAVE ONE THIS WEEK!

    How are you feeling?:
Oof. Nausea all day every day, but I haven't vomited a ton, so I'm trying to look at it positively. Also my boobs are sore enough to wake me from a deep sleep 😳

    Rants/Raves:
No rants. Rave: I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT THIS WEEK!!!!!!!! I am so anxious and excited and terrified and feeling all the feels.

Questions: will my doctor be annoyed if (let's be honest.... WHEN) I ask 26574 questions at my first appointment??

GTKY: What is your go-to karaoke song?
I like @emily1052 answer of any pop hits from the 90s or 2000s, but I am especially partial to Spice Girls: either Wannabe or Spice Up Your Life.
  • @galentine I'm so excited that you FINALLY have your appointment this week!!  You win the "Patient First Appointment Mama" award for Group 1.  I asked close to 26573 questions at my 2nd appointment, with my new OB, and she answered every single one of them!  Even gave me time to jot down her answers in my notebook.
  • @galentine if they are, find a new doc lol. I was that mom that walked in with two pages of questions at every app and asked every one

  • I had my first appt and ultrasound today. I'm pretty sure my stay here will unfortunately be coming to an end.

TW in spoiler* it's kinda detailed so please read with caution*

I went to my OB this morning and did all the first appt stuff, medical history, family history. We developed a good plan for specialists, high risk Drs ect.

Then when she started the ultra sound she just didn't look very confident. She said baby is measuring at the most 6 weeks, was only 3mm crown to rump, and no heart beat as of right now. I have another scan in 11 days to confirm growth. I know a few of you guys have experienced similar.

I have really regular periods and had my first BFP on a FRER at 9DPO/CD25 so I'm pretty sure about EDD and the baby shouldn't be measuring over two weeks behind.

The doctor tried to keep me positive but I asked her the likelihood of a positive outcome and she didn't give me much. She also didn't even give me a copy of the ultrasound. My husband and I are just devastated. I have been so upset all day and so has he.

I will definitely miss you guys and wish you all a HH 8ish months

  • @wanderlost, I'm so sorry. I hope so much that your next scan shows growth. I'll be thinking of you ❤❤
  • @wanderlost I'm so sorry.  Sending lots of healing thoughts to you and your husband.

    Oct 6th

Baby is the size of a(n):
    Raspberry

    Upcoming Appointments:
March 20th for monthly appt, March 25th for bloodwork

    How are you feeling?:
I've come down with the mother of all sore throats and the runny nose from hell, so that's fun. The ladies are the pharmacy were like, oh, you're pregnant, okaaaay.....*brightly* here's saline spray for your nose and some throat candy without menthol! Tough it out! Urgh.

    Rants/Raves:
It's so hard not to tell my parents yet. I keep thinking, only 4 more weeks, only 4 more weeks....

    Questions:

GTKY: What is your go-to karaoke song?
I love the easy ones, like I will survive, or Cotton Eye Joe, or pretty much any Disney animated movie theme song (I see the light from Tangled makes me bawl while singing, always fun).
    The original: Aug2013
    The remix: Feb2017
    The encore: coming Oct2019

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: Oct. 6 / 8+1

Baby is the size of a(n): raspberry

Upcoming Appointments: finally kind of close to the 1st appointment (March 5th), though it still feels far away

How are you feeling?: Nauseous today which is a welcome change from usually light symptoms since it helps make it feel more real

Rants/Raves: This past weekend was so wonderfully full of the mundane, chores, a family gathering and meal prep. We've been traveling for so many weekends that it feels great.

    Questions: none

GTKY: What is your go-to karaoke song? Ohh, I love karaoke, there are too many to choose. Basically any Adele, Destiny's Child, and Lady Gaga will always do
  • @wanderlost I'm so incredibly sorry
  • @wanderlost m so sorry u r going through this. I really hope ur next scan shows growth as happiness. Prayers.
  • @wanderlost I am so, so sorry. Sending thoughts and love your way.
  • @elle-0409 that's awesome about the callback, congrats and good luck! Regarding the anxiety, I understand you completely. I have the same thoughts and worry that I'm stopping myself from enjoy it too much because I'm waiting for the rug to be pulled for some reason. Starting tomorrow I'm going to forcefully view everything as glass half full.
@cmbt2 ah, I'm jealous about your coffee though being so limited with all other drinks does suck. I had my first true aversion today and it was to coffee (yay go me)
@amacanadian awesome, that convention sounds exciting. For some reason I'm just now realizing that our baby will be Canadian American (MH is from there originally) :)
@emily1052 that's amazing that you were able to hear it so early!
@asiyahyounger ah that does sound like it would suck, hopefully this phase passes by quickly for you
@galentine YAAAS finally it's first appointment week, I will live vicariously through you
@grapeskittles4lyfe aw Disney songs are definitely great karaoke ones
@jenferlee82 congrats on the great appointment
  • @marbellie I had an awful aversion with both boys. With DS1, I was able to tolerate it again around 25w. With DS2, I could barely scarf down one cup after 1st tri and had to do the rest of my caffeine limit by drinking black tea 😒

  • @cmbt2 and @sorarose Thanks for the advice! I think I'll feel better after the results from the Panorama test.
@amacanadian I hope that your appointment went well!
@emily1052 The "Today I am pregnant and I love my baby" mantra is one of my go-tos. :) Yes to all of the pop hits from the 90s and 2000s!
@asiyahyounger Sorry about the nausea! I hope it subsides soon.
@galentine Wow! I'm sorry that your boobs are that sore. And yes, ask your doctor all of the questions.
    @grapeskittles4lyfe Disney songs FTW
@marbellie Oh my gosh, your first appointment is almost here! I love Adele, but she's a hard one for me to sing in public. Get it, girl!
@jenferlee82 That's amazing that you got to hear the heartbeat! Such a special moment for you and your husband.

  • @wanderlost I am so so sorry :( I don’t want to give false hope... but with my oldest son I had a similar issue. Baby was measuring 10 days behind and couldn’t find a heartbeat. My dr told me it was a likely miscarriage and we planned d&c, but he sent me for one final ultrasound the next day. Wouldn’t you know at the ultrasound my little boy was flipping around and is now a perfect 6 year old.

Last week at my ultrasound we didn’t find a heartbeat either at 7w2d. I go back this Thursday to check again as my dr said maybe I’m just not as far as we thought . I know the day I had peak ovulation and I had my positive test on CD 26... but he said that doesn’t matter , unless you do IVF there’s is no possible way to know when the egg was fertilized. So we’ll see .

Try to keep your head up if you can. What I’ve learned from my previous loss is whatever is going to happen is out of our control and if this one doesn’t stick it’s because it likely wasn’t a healthy embryo and wasn’t meant to be. Saying so many prayers of peace for you ❤️
  • @wanderlost I am so saddened to hear about your experience.  I’ve been there and know how crushing that scan is when the results are inconclusive.  Sending you big virtual hugs.
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: Oct 6th (same as @galentine!) 8 weeks/ 1 day

Baby is the size of a(n):  raspberry!

Upcoming Appointments:  I have my first OB appointment on 3/5.

How are you feeling?:  Symptoms have definitely come out to say hi this week!  Sore boobs, boob growth (even a vein popping out already 🤔), some nausea, fatigue, insomnia due to terrible stomach aches at night (gas, bloating, indigestion)

Rants/Raves:  I’m also feeling anxious about miscarriage and the health of the baby as some of you ladies have mentioned.  I had a loss with D&C in November and I am 35.  On Tuesday I had pretty significant bleeding and thought I was miscarrying.  Turns out it was a hemorrhage from a subchorionic hematoma.  I have two other hematomas in there they found.  I was relieved to know the baby is healthy and I was not miscarrying.  Nervous to know there are still two more in there.  my dr told me they are so common and they don’t even mention them to patients when they see them on the scans because they would alarm the women when there is no need to worry.  However she told me to be on “pelvic rest” and reduce my exercise.  I am hoping when I go back on 3/5 they tell me all is well and I can go back to working out!   Between being on rest and having the flu weeks 5-6 (which to me was takeout and bed) I have already gained 6 pounds!

Questions: has anyone here had subchorionic hematomas and if so - what did the Dr recommend for you?

GTKY: What is your go-to karaoke song?  Ok might sound bizarre but it is truly the best song to sing karaoke to: What Would You Do by CityHigh 😂
  • @jane101757 I had one with DS1. I never bled from it- they found it at my A/S. No recommendations to change lifestyle. It’s common to be placed on pelvic rest when they cause bleeding

  • @jane101757 so many coincidences: my EDD (based on LMP since I didn't temp) is Oct. 6th, my first appointment is on the 5th AND I just watched that City High music video on a whim last week! I'm glad that everything turned out to be alright for you and the baby, I've heard that common as well.
  • @cmbt2 so happy to hear everything worked out!  That’s thefeedback I’ve been getting - that they are common and okay.  I haven’t heard of anyone with an experience of loss from it.  Which is very relieving!

@marbellie yay due date twins!!  Good vibes to you on your appointment next week!  And that’s crazy about the city high video 😂 I feel like it’s a song I rarely hear but when I do I’m like this was such a jam in the early 2000s!!

That is so cool! Do mine me asking what brand Doppler you are using? We are thinking of getting one.

I have a sonoline b. I got it back in 2014 (it was around $50). I have a love/hate relationship with it as I have to constantly remind myself that not finding anything doesn’t mean anything is wrong (which happens more often than not at this stage)

  • @cmbt2 Thank you! And that’s why we’ve been going back and forth on it. I love the idea of one but don’t want it making me more anxious if (or when, since I’m not a professional) I can’t find anything.
  • @cmbt2 yay!  That’s so exciting!
I’ve been able to find the HB everyday since Sunday.  Last night I was even able to record a video for the future grandparents!  💓💓💓 My mom cried, which made me cry.

@jenferlee82 I absolutely love it!  @cmbt2 had some great tips that helped me.  Empty bladder and watch videos online!
  • @wanderlost Sending you a virtual hug and positive energy. I am in the same boat as you and posted my results in last week check in.  I know its tough but stay positive, our lil ones may be strong fighters and will grow for the next scan.
  • @emily1052 That’s great to hear, thank you! So wonderful that you’ve been able to hear it every day. 😁 I went ahead and ordered one so I’ll start studying up now!
  • It looks like this is the end of the road for me. Went in for an u/s and the baby is measuring almost 2 weeks behind with a very low heartbeat . I go back Tuesday for another check but it’s not likely this is viable. Wishing you all a healthy and successful pregnancy ❤️
  • @jd614 I'm so sorry that the follow up didn't go well
