Best VA areas to move to??

DH and I got to talking recently and are open to the possibility of someday moving to VA... Ideally, we would like to be within an hour of either a lake or beach... and within a good school district.  Cost of living is important too (so definitely not Alexandria!)- about 375k for a 4 bed/2 bath home.

TIA for any suggestions/recommendations!!

  • Bon Air/Midlothian! All the best!
  • Yorktown has great homes and schools--just looked at those because we have to move now. I was pleasantly surprised! Very close to the beach!

  • I live right across the bridge from Yorktown and this area is great honestly! No complaints so far :)
  • Roanoke! 35 minutes from SML. Hiking trails, huge outdoor community and lots of breweries (for once baby comes of course
  • Woodbridge is a suburb of DC, if your interested in that area,  we like it so far. But stick to Lake ridge or westridge areas.
  • Clifton and occoquan are nice too but much pricer
