Re: TTC Check-in: 02/18/19

  • QOTW: As it was Valentine’s Day last week, what is your favorite type of chocolate/sweet? I love me some Milky Ways. Sugar candy is probably my favorite though like Sweetarts.

Nothing real new with me to report. Go in for the midcycle US on Thursday. I don't think my clinic is open on Saturdays so I'm curious how that would work if the Thursday US shows my follicle is ready. I thought about asking but figured it wasn't worth asking at the baseline US since we can't know until then if I'm ready for the trigger.

  • @inthewoods23 - I haven’t been in that situation yet, but, yeah, I do wonder about what clinics do when/if they’re closed on the weekends. I hope you have smooth sailing though this cycle and won’t have to worry about such a thing! Also, Sweetarts can’t be beat!

@prpl11butterfly - been thinking of you since I know you were scheduled to test last week!

@cigaline - if we’re still in the same boat cycle-wise, I’m assuming you’re nearing the end of the TWW? Still having the cramping or any other symptoms? FX for you!!

@chiblackhawkie - good luck with the testing tomorrow!!

@Knottie1458606415 - how’s YH doing with the vitamins and lifestyle changes so far? How are you doing with all of this as well?

AFM: expecting AF this Tues/Wed. I’m looking forward to finally finishing off my prescription with one final round!

QOTW: I’m a big candy hound, so I will literally eat any type of candy. I love Reese’s Pieces or anything with chocolate and peanut butter.
  • @sincethelastday oohhhh Reese's pieces. That's right up there with my love for milky ways

  • @inthewoods23 That would be interesting to know... My clinic sounds like they have selective Saturday appointments if that timing was decided.

@sincethelastday Thank you for thinking of me. DH and I went in this morning and had our tests done - now we're just waiting (which seems to be a common TTC trend.)

So this upcoming cycle will be the final medicine focused round? That's got to give you some hope (it did to me at least, haha.)

QOTW: Reese's, hands down. I'm not a huge candy person, but chocolate and peanut butter? Yes please.
  • Hi all

@inthewoods23 hope your follicle continues to grow nicely. I was v intrigued by your October board comment and had to go and look myself... wow!

Congrats @prpl11butterfly! Not sure if I'm allowed to say that until you have yourself but as it's 'out there' on the Bump just wanted to say am really delighted for you...

@sincethelastday hope AF doesn't show up for you...
@chiblackhawkie good luck with the wait :-)
    @Knottie1458606415  how's things with you?

AFM: yes, AF turned up right on schedule Monday evening. I had been kidding myself right up until the day itself - came down with a runny nose and then a real cold and convinced myself that was a symptom too. Looking back at my chart temps had been dropping since day 9 bar a one-day rise, so my optimism was fairly unfounded. The day 7 cramps were quite something though. They got even more severe into the night and stopped me sleeping, but by the morning they were gone. Goodness knows what was the real cause.

So anyway, here we go into cycle #19. Need to set up the blood tests/sperm analysis and book an appointment with the clinic to move forward with IUI. Thought I was doing pretty well dealing with the bitter disappointment this time, but then this evening *TW*

I had a long planned Skype with the friend who is now expecting her miracle pregnancy after 4.5 years of trying. I can't complain as I insisted on hearing all the details of how/when etc, which she didn't volunteer, but somehow the combination of hearing all that and her not asking about my own journey (no doubt deliberately trying to save me pain but I kind of wanted her to show an interest) and
    *end TW*
DH deciding to snap at me and say something mean (a pretty rare occurrence...) when I got off the call hit me like a ton of bricks and set the waterworks off. I'm over it now, but it's nice to know you ladies will understand and feel sympathetic :-) (PS he did give me a hug and say he was sorry afterwards ;-)

QOTW: chocolate will win over other sweets for me any day. More specifically, the English girl in me would have to say Cadbury's Fruit and Nut (and Easter Eggs! my sister's offered to bring some soon), but also, near where we used to live there is an amazing chocolatier whose handmade chocolates are to die for! (With ganaches inside like basil/passion fruit/raspberry... mmm... just one of the benefits of living in France :-)

  • @inthewoods23 - took me awhile to find the post you were referencing lol. I never really lurk on the other boards; I’m quite the “homebody” with just this board for now lol. With that said...

@prpl11butterfly - from the “likes” you posted on @inthewoods23 and @cigaline posts, I’m assuming you’re okay with the group knowing your news. I’m sure we’d all love to hear how you’re doing, but feel free to post as much or little as you’d like at this time!

@chiblackhawkie - ugh, yep, waiting when TTC is the norm pratically. Do you have an idea when you’ll receive the results from the tests?

Yeah, this upcoming cycle will be my final and 5th round of Letrozole. I’m planning on giving my clinic a call next week to arrange a follow-up appointment to begin IUI. I’ve gone back and forth with doing just Letrozole for this long, but I know I gave it a fair shot, so I feel confident and sure that it is time to move on to the next step.

(Also, glad to hear of all the Reese’s fans out there lol)

@cigaline - I would love to believe that AF won’t show up, but I had pretty familiar cramping last night, so I’m excepting it to arrive tomorrow most likely. Thanks for the hopeful thought though!

Ugh, no! I was really thinking it was going to be your time with the cramping and symptoms!! I hate how cruel our bodies can be sometimes with throwing these random symptoms in our faces during the TWW. I’ve had a couple of cycles like that where I had weird cramping and was so sure it was going to happen! And it’s so crushing when it doesn’t happen! Glad to hear that you may be able to start IUI soon which will hopefully be your fix!!

Okay, obviously I don’t know your friend, but that makes me kinda mad for your sake that she wouldn’t ask you about your own situation, especially since it sounds like she would be able to relate with the whole trouble TTC thing!! I kinda understand that she may want to “save you pain,” but really she must know that just sharing her good news with you would undoubtedly cause you some sadness as is natural. Plus, she could have still asked in a more general, open ended way about how you’re doing and then it would be up to you how much you’d want to share. Anyways, sounds like a rocky evening, but feel like I can totally relate, especially with the waterworks after talking with someone who’s expecting. I’m sure a lot of the ladies on here can relate as well!  <3

On a happier note, those French chocolates sound amazing!! I did quite fall in love with some English candy when I was there, like Dolly Mix lol. Probably not as good as other sweets though lol.
  • I'm not quite ready to bid you all farewell just yet (being RPL will do that....). But I've been told that I'm welcome to share my news. I was certainly not hiding out lol. This got long so I'm using spoilers.

    The Event

Last Wed we got a very unexpected BFP. To say I was shocked would be an understatement. I had spent the prior week preparing myself for the inevitable BFN. Our timing was aweful. I felt so discouraged. I would have this inner battle with myself where I would be convinced I wasn't preg. And then the BSC part of me would be all "you've never been preg on a cycle you were sure was the one but were for every one you thought was impossible". The logical part of me really was winning. So my alarm went off. I temped. I got up and took the test. I set the timer then put the test in the linen closet out of sight. I desperately needed my morning coffee and since I was expecting bad news, certainly wasn't waiting. When I opened the closet, I saw that 2nd faint line. DH was sleeping from getting home at an ungodly hour from his trip. I went in crying and shaking (I have reynauds and stressful situations result in shivers and shaking) and told him.

    Betas

I had my first beta on Valentines. The tech apologized for having to stick me on that day. I told her no apologies were needed, after 2yrs trying for a successful pregnancy, they could stick me any day. The first # was great and my RE said we could wait until Monday for draw 2 so I didn't have to travel to their weekend facility. I was cool with that but then started getting anxious and decided to make the trip on Sat. I'm glad I did, it help me remain calm. I got a portal message that afternoon confirming my levels were rising beautifully. I will go back on the 25th for the final. After that, the US will be scheduled.

I'm feeling oddly calm about this and it's kind of scaring me. I'm not really sure if it's because I just have a better feeling or if the RE being involved is giving me more (and potentially false) confidence. Either way I am trying to take it 1 day at a time and feel grateful that I am pregnant. I will keep you updated as things progress and will likely (and hopefully) make my farewell official once we have the US.
  • @prpl11butterfly - I can’t imagine how surreal that moment must have been to see that positive test!! So excited and hopeful for you, especially with what you’ve gone through with other pregnancies! Stick around for as long as you need! And a big congrats!
  • @prpl11butterfly So excited for you, congrats!! *TW* I'll pray for a safe and healthy pregnancy for you. *TW* Feel welcome to stay as long as you want 👍

@cigaline Ugh.. It's sometimes so hard to balance emotions when a friend is successful, yet we're still waiting and hoping... Especially when they don't seem to care about your own situation. I'm glad your DH was able to see the error of his ways.

@sincethelastday No idea on the test results. Haven't heard anything back, I'm going to assume test labs are backed up this time of year.

I hope all of us have better results with IUI.
  • @prpl11butterfly I hope everything continues to progress well for you!

AFM, my midcycle US showed I have a 21mm follicle so we'll be triggering tonight and IUI on Saturday. I'm surprised. I was just starting to get sticky CM yesterday so I thought it would be a few more days. I'll take it! Unfortunately I'm also traveling in 2 weeks so the HCG test is going to be 16dpiui. I've been good about not testing early but I might just have to this time. Especially since I don't want to hear bad news on a Monday!

  • Hi I'm a new to posting . I've always read the forums.
We've been ttc for close to 5 years on and off. These past couple of months have been extremely hard.
They say I have pcos. I am not currently on any medication  . I can't take metformin.
    Even the Extended release ones.
I feel like no one around me really knows how hard ttc is.
Currently 10dpo I think. Waiting and praying.
  • @ladyava - welcome to the group! Sorry that you find yourself here and have recently received the diagnosis of PCOS. Do you have a treatment plan set up or just wasn’t to see how this cycle goes? I’m starting this week’s check-in today so feel free to jump in!
