TTC After a Loss

Does this apply to us?

We have six chickens.  They get to go out and forage and we give them a healthy blend of grain and mineral supplements.  They produce beautiful eggs.  The whites are very firm (which would be the chick) and the yellows are very dark and rich (which would be the placenta).  We have an agriculture specialist that lives close to us and says we have great and healthy eggs that would produce great chicks (which he is trying to convince us to do.)  He says it's because of the diet we give them.  The reason store bought eggs are so pale and runny is because the chickens don't get exercise and healthy feed.

So, after all of that, my question is, does this apply to us too?  Are our eggs not healthy due to a lack of exercise and junk food?  But then again you see plenty of people with babies that eat junk and don't exercise.  These are the crazy thoughts in my brain today.

Re: Does this apply to us?

  • I tend to think that way too.  I know it doesn't seem to apply to everyone, but I think there has to be something to it.  i know the healthier I am, the better I feel and I'm sure that has to help with getting KU and growing a healthy child inside of me.  Actually, now that you mention it, I was exercising and eating really well when I got KU with DD.  Better jump back on that asap!

  • I am pretty sure there are lots of studies that show that yes, it does apply to us.  I'm getting my butt to the gym tonight.

  • I went on a weight loss quest when I was planning to get KU. ?I talked to my OB about it and she did say that the healthier I am the better the chances of having a healthy pregnancy, however she was quick to qualify that by saying that many women over weight and many women who are not physically in good shape as far as working out etc are concerned DO have healthy pg. ?

She did think it was an overall good decision to try to get healthier prior to getting pg and said it can effect things.

DH and I talked and he thinks its stupid but I have made the decision not to get KU again (assuming I'm not now) until I have lost a certain amount of weight and gotten back to being in decent shape.?

  • I think it totally applies to us! That is why DH and I started a new healthier lifestyle program at the begining of the year...
