Re: GTKY: Favorite guilty pleasure TV show

  • If you saw my House Hunters comments, you know that’s on my list. Also, Property Brothers, Fixer Upper, you get the jist. Love me some kitchen renos. I’m also a big fan of The Bachelor/ette because it’s like a car wreck that you can’t look away from.

Most guilty pleasure is Are You The One on MTV. A bunch of drunk, horny, crazy 20-something’s living in a house and have to find they perfect match to win a million dollars. What can go wrong?

  • I have so many of these-especially in the last few weeks.

    The Bachelor... whyyyyyy!?

Counting On (the Dougars) .. I’m starting to think it’s a little bit like a cult

New Girl- I’ve been binge watching this on Netflix

@zuuls_mom I hadn’t heard of that MTV show.. I may have to check it out
  • Loading the player...
  • @blitzybee prepare to just shake your head a lot lol. There are a few seasons on Xfinity On Demand.

  • I watch a lot of HGTV in my spare time. Also a lot of the pool shows - Pool Kings and Insane Pools. I also love me some Shark Tank. Lol!

I can’t with the Bachelorette/Bachelor shows. It feels like every 2 seconds there’s a commercial and it makes me mad they always tease what’s gonna happen next...but it doesn’t happen until like the last 5 mins.
  • @lillywonderland you are SO right! I DVR it and watch the whole thing in half the time it’s run on air. Fast forward!
  • I, too, find those reno/ house shows fascinating. This is our first house and I grew up in a NYC apartment, so it’s all very educational for me!

I recently binged two shows that I am obsessed with but they are kind of dark: Russian Doll on Netflix and Romanoffs on Amazon Prime. Both made me laugh and cry (or could be the hormones).

Otherwise, I still love anything Bravo. I spend a lot of my time shaking my head. Doesn’t anyone believe in the sisterhood anymore ?!?!

@zuuls_mom you cracked me up with that househunters comment! My husband and I laugh about it all the time. My very slow brain lost the thread though - I’ll comment there once I find it (facepalm).

  • @rms924 I’m shamelessly obsessed with Bravo too. I’ve started watching the first season of Real Housewives of OC when I was 12 and have been hooked ever since.

I’ve been turning on The Great British Baking Show lately when I was something mindless and calming. It’s such a happy little show!
  • I can’t say I really have anything that I’m ashamed I watch- that’s what I usually consider guilty pleasures? Gray’s Anatomy maybe? I can’t figure out why it’s still on, yet I can’t stop watching!

As far as binge watching, I too love HGTV shows. Love It or List It in particular. I just watched all the epsisodes of A MIllion Little Things in about a week, but there weren’t that many. MH and I are rewatching Supernatural and we’ll sit and watch numerous episodes if we don’t have anything to do.
  • @calliah I have 14 episodes of a million little things waiting for me on DVR. Haven’t found the time to binge watch them. Did you like it? I heard it’s good!!
  • @calliah I’m with you on Grey’s. It needs to end, but I will watch that show for another 10 years if I have to to see it through to the end! Lol

@septoctkids I absolutely love a million little things! It’s super emotional and intense but it’s such a great show.

  • @septoctkids yes! A million little things is awesome! Like @zuuls_mom said, very emotional and intense at time, but also funny and it really makes me think at times. I love it, I’m glad I decided to watch it.
  • @cammie0526 I really love the Great British Baking Show - it's so calming! Keep wanting to find things to watch that are that relaxing, but they never are.
I used to watch a lot of British detective shows, some of which were really bad!
  • @ternsetc lol I binged on midsomer murders and even got dh into it. So entertaining. Have you seen it?

  • add me to the committed until it ends on Gray's Anatomy. I can't stop watching!

MY current guilty pleasure is temptation island.  It's so horrible but I can't turn away.  It was the same when it originally came out forever ago.
  • @blitzybee I love the bachelor (and the entire franchise!) as well. Its like such mindless drama filled entertainment, I can't get enough!

I love to watch "Married at First Sight" as well - any other watchers? It is so interesting to me how people you think "yikes, this isn't going to work out at all!" end up totally in love and having babies and living happily ever after (and yes, there are of course the mismatches as well that are entertaining).

I watch plenty of Food Network now, (I blame my husband, hes the cook in this house!) so we watch a lot of "Chopped" "Beat Bobby Flay" and "Guys Grocery Games". We used to watch HGTV ALL THE TIME before we bought our home, now I guess we just don't wanna be tempted with other peoples home searches? LOL its only been a year but after our moving experience we both agreed that we'll never ever ever move again. (Unless we hit a big lotto & we can throw everything out and just start over somewhere new!).
    TTM - EDD 4/23 - Team Green <3
  • @rms924 yes! and there are so many of them - I started to notice actors reappearing in different roles :D
  • Add me to the greys anatomy list too. I will watch that show til the end.
I am currently watching Riverdale, Dynasty, and I am sad celebrity big brother is over.
  • @MsBeachNJ We used to watch HGTV all the time too until we moved a little over a year ago.  And we also said never again about moving.  It's so stressful!
  • @ternsetc did you notice Orlando bloom made a cameo ?!  I have watched every episode. It’s bizarrely relaxing !

@rms924 Yes, the pitchfork! It's so out there that it just can't stress me out - or at least I think that's why they're so easy to watch. I've probably watched them all too, haha! (edited to tag you)
  • I'm not ashamed! But I love.... Friends, New Girl, Grey's Anatomy, The Bachelor/Bachelorette (but only started watching like a year ago, so Arie to present day), Single Parents, and currently watching The Handmaid's Tale but it is rough, y'all!
