Re: Week 4 Check in w/o 2/11

  • Due date: 4/26

Any appointments? Questions? 2/19, US to see whether my placenta has moved up or not.

Rants/Raves? So glad we convinced my mom to host a sip and see rather than a baby shower. We might have to buy more now (booo), but I really don’t want to deal with a party and family drama.

How are you feeling? Tired. A lot of baby’s kicks have gotten more subtle during the day so I get worried about movement a little. Then at night she’s basically doing karate- repeat worry/relax cycle daily. I’m 5’1” so she’s probably getting a bit crowded.

Did you do anything to prep for baby this week? Yes, finally getting a little prepped on the nursery. Have to place the order for the crib this weekend. We got a huge bag of cloth diaper supplies from our neighbors, which was so nice of them!

GTKY: What's the most annoying habit a person can have? I hate when people are routinely late. 5 min is one thing, but 15+ min regularly is just rude.

  • Loading the player...
  • @lin0442 do you have placenta previa too? I also worry about the baby's movements during the day when I'm at work (because I'm not paying as close attention), but then when I lay down after DD goes to bed, it's a freaking rave in there. So the worry/relax cycle is over here too!
  • Due date: 4/26 C/s scheduled 4/23

Any appointments? Questions? early march for my 32 week and a growth ultrasound

Rants/Raves? I want to breathe and sleep again please

    How are you feeling? TIRED

Did you do anything to prep for baby this week? Not much. I have 1 more painting I need to start and plan to hang some shelves, secure furniture, do some laundry and organize this weekend.

GTKY: What's the most annoying habit a person can have? I hate hearing people chew and I really hate late people.

    Me: 32 DH: 31
    TTC #2 since January 2018
    Baby #1 DD  Born 8/25/2016
    BFP: 8/11/18 Due: 4/26/18

  • @mrstmoose My placenta was like riiiight along the edge of my cervix. They weren’t too worried but want to follow up. And yeah, I think the daytime lull is mostly because I’m busier/more distracted too.

@kosmo86 It will be magical to have clear sinuses and full lungs.
  • EDD 4/26, 29+3

Appt Wednesday to meet with dietician and get my diabetes education. (GD confirmed this morning.) Waaaaah. Then I have a regular prenatal 2/18.

Rant: GD. Also this weather. It’s gray and drizzly and cold again today. It’s above freezing at least, so no freezing rain. But it might as well be.

Rave: I slept well last night.

Feeling: discouraged. Anxious. A little depressed in that I usually get seasonal depression, especially when the weather is this crappy, and the GD diagnosis isn’t helping.

Baby prep: the popcorn ceiling is gone in DD’s room, so sanding and priming walls will commence soon.

GTKY: hmmmmm... I guess belligerently ignoring logic over feelings? Or maybe laziness?
  • Due date: 4/25

Any appointments? Questions? 2/18 for an ultrasound. My amniotic fluid is on the low side of normal, so they wanted to bring me in earlier than originally planned.

Rants/Raves? My baby shower was last weekend and my mother hosted. She really outdid herself. It was such a lovely time and I am still feeling overwhelmed by the generosity of our friends and family.

How are you feeling? I'm having a hard time sleeping. I'm either having a hard time falling asleep or waking up an hour before my alarm. Not to mention the numerous trips the bathroom in the middle of the night. On a brighter note, my indigestion has disappeared thanks to a once a day Zantac regimen.

Did you do anything to prep for baby this week? Yes! We finally cleared out the baby's room. The contents of my H's former office are now sitting in the front room, but at least we have a space to work on getting ready for LO arrival.

GTKY: What's the most annoying habit a person can have? I dislike it when people talk too close to my face or are too touchy. Respect the bubble, people.

  • Due date: 4/24

Any appointments? Questions? Check up next week.

Rants/Raves? Rave: My partner is the best. He really is always trying to look after me despite his busy schedule and other commitments. It feels like our to-do lists are endless, but he makes sure that we're making progress, even if it's slow. I'm just appreciating how great he is recently.

Rant: I like everything about our new apartment except our upstairs neighbors, who appear to still have some college-esque party habits. Each night this weekend I woke up around 2:30 am because it sounded like someone was peeing on our window (but maybe it was beer, based on the presence of beer cans the next morning). Either way, WTF, if it ever happens again I will call the police. Also, will not feel bad about having a crying baby soon.

How are you feeling? SO TIRED. Always. I wish there were a way to get enough sleep. Also, nauseous and like eating is a struggle.

Did you do anything to prep for baby this week? Actually signed up for birthing classes and baby CPR and safety classes! I feel like we might be pushing it with the dates of some of these in mid-April... oops. Guess we'll see how that goes. Otherwise I looked at our registry again and I guess it's good enough to send to people?

GTKY: What's the most annoying habit a person can have? Saying they'll do things and not doing them. I don't mean to say that I'm innocent and I've never done this; everyone sometimes over-commits. It's the people who chronically over-promise and then wait until the last minute to admit that they don't have time that bug me.

  • Due date: April 21-22

Any appointments? Today! My BP is good, weight a little more than I went up 2lbs over 2 weeks instead of 1 lb. also my fundal height is 1cm low, so because of that and I’m at risk for Pre-E and IUGR. So I have a growth ultrasound scheduled for Saturday evening.

Questions? Anyone having pelvic ligament pain? It’s basically the front of my pubic bone all the soft tissue hurts, especially if I’ve been in bed it is very painful to turn over and walk uphill and such...

    Rants/Raves? 30’weeks! Yay!!!!

How are you feeling? Sore, tired, excited

Did you do anything to prep for baby this week? Made some clothes (see crafty thread) and thought a lot.

GTKY: What's the most annoying habit a person can have?

Eating. With noise. Or picking their fingernails, with noise.

  • Due date: 4/27

Any appointments? Questions? 30 week appt and growth scan on 2/14.

Rants/Raves? Rant: The constant peeing, or rather urge to pee, is getting really annoying, especially first thing in the morning. I literally sit on the toilet 6-7 times with a great urge to pee before I leave for work, but can barely squeeze out a drop!

Rave: My husband has been just incredible with everything. I think he can tell I’m starting to feel a bit overwhelmed now that it’s getting close, and he’s just going in 200%. So lucky to have such a great partner!

How are you feeling? Feeling quite large, getting physically a bit uncomfortable, especially in bed, but otherwise pretty good. I’m still feeling some of that second trimester energy. Hope it lasts a little longer!

Did you do anything to prep for baby this week? We had our first pre-natal appointment with our doula yesterday. So glad we decided to hire one for L&D. She’s put me and hubs at ease already.

GTKY: What's the most annoying habit a person can have? Chronic lateness or flaking out when someone says they’ll be somewhere. And gross/rude habits on the subway: trimming nails (ick!)/other grooming rituals, playing music or having phone conversation on speakers.

  • @kbirchtree yes to the pelvic ligament pain.
  • Due date:
    4/22

    Any appointments? Questions?

    Friday, regular check-up.

    Rants/Raves?

I'm so tired of winter, being pregnant and trying to entertain my 20 month old DD. I feel like a shitty mom to her because I'm super exhausted.

    How are you feeling?

Tired, see above. Also random bouts of depression and sciatica nerve pain.

Did you do anything to prep for baby this week?

I've just been donating a ton of hardly use items.

GTKY: What's the most annoying habit a person can have?

I like to think I'm easy going but people who suck their teeth annoy me.

  • Due date: 4/28

Any appointments? Questions? Wednesday glucose test (a bit late but was rescheduled for a cold...

Rants/Raves? Getting lots done!!! But feeling overwhelmed at all that’s left to do. I’m trying hard to do the most important thing first so that if I don’t get to the bottom of my list it’s NBD...

How are you feeling? Pretty good but by 6pm every night I’m toast!

Did you do anything to prep for baby this week? Cleaned out and reorganized the pantry and made an inventory of things I have and what I want to stock up on... made a Costco run but probably need to make another 2-3 trips (can’t fit everything in my car at once) since I want a ton of extra paper towels and TP, laundry detergent etc.

GTKY: What's the most annoying habit a person can have? No call no show when you have plans with someone!

  • @cabearit Oh no, I'm sorry to hear about the low amniotic fluid levels. I had that, too, for most of the second trimester. So stressful! FX for good news at your appt!

@kbirchtree +1 to pelvic ligament pain. I had it with my first, but not until the very end and only when I was walking around. This time it hurts all. the. time, especially at night, like you said.

    Due date: 25 April

Any appointments? Questions? Appointment next week.

Rants/Raves? I'm feeling pretty mellow right now. May have to update later  :D

How are you feeling? Pubis symphysis pain, as mentioned above. I'm having a hard time sleeping and getting up and down from the floor to play with DS is becoming quite painful. Also, a few of my tops are starting to get quite snug!

Did you do anything to prep for baby this week? Yes! Everyone's productiveness last week really motivated me. I washed and put away all of the baby clothes and blankets and started collecting items for my hospital bag. We attended a birth education class and hospital tour over the weekend, which was super informative. They answered all 42 of my questions :D Turns out the hospital provides next to nothing in terms of supplies, so I went to the store yesterday to get everything we need for that.

GTKY: What's the most annoying habit a person can have? People who are uncomfortable with silence and feel the need to talk all of the time. I love a good conversation but silence can be golden, too.

  • @kristenhk Um, what? That sounds like the receptionist was being cranky and not like you're being unreasonable at all. It's their job to tell the doctors in the office about when people are trying to contact them. A week without hearing from them on a sensitive condition seems plenty reasonable enough to call and check...
  • @mesweettea that's what I thought too.  I had a missed call/voicemail from my ob later on saying "I'm not sure what you're asking but here is the number for fetal assessment" and she sounded super annoyed- so who's knows what the clerk actually told her.

    Ok rant over lol
  • Due date: 4/27

Any appointments? Questions?  I’m currently at my 3 hour glucose test.  The lab tech was 30 minutes late and I’m starving!  Then I have my mid-wife appointment next Tuesday.

Rants/Raves?  I’d like for work to stop having a crisis every other day but I can’t really complain because I love my job.

How are you feeling?  Bigger?  Haha!  Actually my sciatica seems to have gone away which I have no idea how that works.  But I told the mid-wife about it last week and the next day I was fine. It then came back a couple days later, the PT office called to schedule a consult and it went away again.  Since last Friday it seems to be fine again.  🤷🏻‍♀️  Weird.

Did you do anything to prep for baby this week?  We got the room all done for our 2 boys so we were able to clear out the room for the nursery.  I’m currently working on getting glue off the nursery walls with a combination of Goo Gone and Magic Eraser because I really don’t want to have to paint it again. Almost done thankfully!   DH also put the crib together and I washed the curtains.  We’re almost there.  My 3 year old actually asked me this morning if the baby was here yet, lol.

GTKY: What's the most annoying habit a person can have?  Chewing with their mouth open.

  • @kristenhk the receptionist should have been a little more sympathetic.  She must be fun at parties.

  • @kristenhk I'mr really not loving your OB or the office staff right now. That's a serious condition that needs to be diagnosed or not. I'd be irate if I were you.
  • edited February 2019
@kristenhk:  Not okay.  Can you get a direct line to someone with access to charts who calls back quickly?  I eventually had to do this because certain staff members weren't getting back to me quickly enough about my progesterone draws (the OB actually said to make sure I "bothered them" the next day.)  I would think that if you got a hold of your doc or whatever assistant s/he has and explained the situation, they should be sympathetic?
  • @TheSouffleGirl I tried that but unfortunately it's always just the same receptionist there who answers. @mrstmoose  @tumblefluff  agreed- seems pretty bizarre to me.  Maybe they think I'm just being a dramatic FTM. (Maybe I am  :D ).

I think the problem is that my ob admitted to not being too familiar with cholestasis so maybe she's thinking it can wait till next week until I see her even though they did diagnose it a few weeks ago.  It's just frustrating having one doctor tell you it's serious and what needs to be done and then not communicating that to the ob.  I'll see what she says on Tuesday and if she plays it off I think I'll request a referral.

@tumblefluff that's adorable that your 3y.o asked you that!
  • @kristenhk FWIW, I don't think you're being dramatic at all. Especially since they told you it was serious and now they're giving you attitude for your concern. F that.

  • @kristenhk you are handling it really well.  I would have gone off on the receptionist.

Luckily my ob has his own assistant and nurse so he has me skip the receptionist and go straight to one of them for results and questions.

Any appointments? Questions?  my next appointment is 2/26 (then US every week till he is born)

Rants/Raves? none so far ... besides my chest acne making it super hard to find a dress

    How are you feeling? good

Did you do anything to prep for baby this week? no..... room is not close to being done because hubby made it his junk room. I hope its ready by 3/1

GTKY: What's the most annoying habit a person can have? being a loud eater

  • @avidlyuks36 I am in the same boat with the baby's room. My H had an "office" that essentially amounted to a room that stored all his crap from before we were married. I finally got him to clean it out last weekend so that we could move the crib, bookshelf, and the gifts from the shower in. We have made some progress, but now my front room is filled with his junk. lol.

  • @kristenhk:  Yeah, I'd definitely ask for a referral.  No need to have any more worry or have any less competent care (not saying she's incompetent, just that someone "more familiar" would be more competent) than absolutely necessary.
  • @kristenhk @TheSouffleGirl a referral is an EXCELLENT idea
  • @cabearit I'm glad it isn't just me! It is so annoying because we have to have our super paint the room and he (the super) can be slow moving so I want to knock it out before I can't do much but make meals. My husband is a comic book collector and has books from the 80's and up -- just to give you an idea about the amount of stuff in the room.

He wanted to move everything out of the room and and I refused because I knew the living room would be a mess and his family is coming over in a few weeks after the baby shower.

I'm hoping we are cleared out by end of Feb :)

  • @cabearit @TheSouffleGirl @tmblickley @lyse01 thanks guys.  I finally got a call from fetal assessment saying they had just received a request from my doctor and they're seeing me Wednesday!  Does anyone know what a fetal assessment appointment usually entails?  I also see my ob Tuesday so I'll play it by ear - dh is going to to come with me to this one and if she is shrugging things off we will ask if we can see someone who's familiar with this (in a nice way obviously.)
  • @kristenhk what they test for depends on what your OB is looking for.  With DS I had to go for weekly ultrasounds to monitor blood flow, growth, kidneys, and fluid.  I also had weekly NSTs but I was diagnosed with a different medical condition so your experience could be very different.

  • @kristenhk I agree with @tumblefluff that the fetal specialist will cater the appointment to fit your specific needs, so it will be different for everyone. At least in my experience, fetal specialists (and really any high-risk specialists) are used to people being worried and stressed and having no idea what's going on and have been very understanding and patient with me. I would expect to feel a bit overwhelmed and go in with a list of questions. I had DH take notes during my scans (assuming you have an US you won't be able to take notes during). I personally felt SO MUCH better after talking to the fetal specialist. I hope you get answers and good news!!!
