How did he do with it? H is getting his this summer when it's easier to take time off. How was your date night/party thingy?

@wildrainbow the actual procedure wasn’t too bad. took about an hour. i drove us home which i don’t think was absolutely necessary but i’m sure saved him from a bunch of pain having to move his lower half around so much right after. it’s been a little over 24 hours and he’s still walking slow and is really only comfortable sitting on the couch. i’m not asking him to do anything other than just relax and heal (hoping the favor is returned when my time comes in a couple weeks). i’m bringing him pretty much everything he needs. my guess is another half day of this and tomorrow he’ll be more independent.
eta- and he’s still alternating tylenol and motrin.

@wildrainbow forgot the question about date night. eh... it was having to make polite conversation with dh’s coworkers for three hours. much rather would have been home with the girls in my pjs.

eta- how have you been feeling lately?
  • @highsteaks My period decided to make an appearance, despite being EBF. Sigh. Just proof that not even PP is the same after pregnancy. With ds1, my period didnt come back until he was 11 months. Here I am not even 4 months PP. Sigh.  The weather is being ridiculous here. Today, we have a 30 degree swing between the high and low and it's making me and M congested. I'm a little wrapped up in self pity mode, lol.
  • @wildrainbow oh hun, that sucks!! i would be feeling so bitter and cheated. maybe it’ll be a one off and your next one will be awhile. what did the doc say about your endo pain? i forget when that was: do you think it could have been related to ovulation?
  • @highsteaks He thinks it was cyst that burst. Prolly an endometrioma. We are wait and see right now on that front. It just sucks because my supply hasn't had a chance to fully recover from being sick. M has been on my boobs all day, crying. I hope it's a one off, because every month of this is enough to make me cry. It's a lot easier when you can give them real food to supplement the supply dip.
  • @highsteaks Wow, you guys aren't messing around with no more kids!  :D I didn't realize your husband was getting a vasectomy. How is he feeling today?
@wildrainbow Yikes, that weather sounds awful. It's been cold here, but we haven't had such a wide range of temperatures. I'm sorry that your period started. That is so frustrating when you're only 4 mpp.  :'(

Hi guys! I'm sorry it's been so long since I've checked in. Life has been crazy since starting back at work a few weeks ago. DD1 got sick, then my husband got sick, then Sydney got sick with RSV.  :'( She is doing okay, thank God. Just lots of congestion so we're watching her closely, and I've been sleeping on the floor right next to her crib to make sure she doesn't stop breathing in the middle of the night. I had to take 3 days off of work with her last week and I'm hoping and praying I don't get sick too and have to take off even more time!

Otherwise, things have been going well. I've missed talking to you guys! How is everyone's weekend going?

  • @offtoneverland Oh no! I'm so sorry about S. I know it's been scary. I how everyone is feeling better? We are doing ok. M is growing into a giant! He's moved up to 0-3 months clothes, even tho they are quite big. He needs them for the length. He has his 4 month appt later this month, I'm interested to see how much he's grown. He's turned into a talkative thing. His favorite thing to do is to be in his swing and look at the lit up mobile and talk to it. It's precious.
  • @offtoneverland how is Sydney doing now? that’s terrifying that she had RSV. i hope you’re feeling ok.

i was an emotional mess this weekend. i had a hard time keeping it together in front of everyone because i’m so brokenhearted about not being able to have anymore kids. ugh. and i didn’t want to unload on my dh since he’s still in pain because of the vasectomy; talk about insult to injury. i had to disappear a few times to cry to myself. this is 1000% harder than i expected.
this week is extra busy—appointments everyday. on wednesday i have my pre-op consultation for my tube removals. i guess i will have to try to keep from falling apart at the doctors office so that she doesn’t cancel the surgery. and apparently i have no clue wtf is going on with early intervention because they’re coming this week to do two evaluations for elise, not at the end of feb like i thought. emilia has an appointment on friday with the nephrologist to go over the results of her ultrasound last week.
  • @highsteaks All the hugs. I will prolly be right there with you when H has his vasectomy this summer. It always seems so far of when you talk about it, but when things happen to work toward it, it becomes final. I hope your pre-OP goes smoothly. One thing I may have forgotten to mention about the lap, they fill your belly with CO2. After surgery it can be pretty painful, and will actually hurt in your shoulder more than the gassy bloated feeling. Just so you are aware. It usually goes away after a day or so.

AFM: M has his eval for EI this week, our original appt got pushed back. My bestie is coming back home to meet M. She moved to Cali before he was born and cried that she wouldn't be there when he was born. I'm super excited about seeing her. She and her hubby are staying with us for a few days so she can get "Auntie" time as she calls it. Of course this means I need to find time to clean the house. It looks like a hurricane has hit it. I really wish cleaning elves were a thing and that they lived in my house. I'm a little worried about M's eval. His tone is very tight in some places and loose in others. I'm not very worried that he has cerebral palsy, but I do worry a bit about hypertonia. We shall see. His grip in his hand is very loose, like he barely holds on to my finger. I'm sure the OT will be out several times to see him. Good thing she is already integrated in our family, haha.
  • @wildrainbow & @highsteaks - I hope your LOs early intervention evals go well! I know when we're done having kids I will be an emotional mess too.

Replying here since it's February now. We've been doing pretty well. Spencer is all of a sudden screaming half the time when I go to nurse him so we're trying to work through that. He's 16lbs so I'm not worried about him starving, but it's very frustrating. Otherwise I think we're adjusting pretty well. It was in the 60s here yesterday so we went to the zoo. Nothing too exciting.

  • @offtoneverland hopefully Sydney heals soon, I remember being that nervous with DD1 when she came down with RSV.

@highsteaks I feel you about the emotions with making the no more kids decision final. Our goal was always 3, and I am not ready to make any final moves to ensure we don't have any more children.

@mockingjay1 Penny rages at the boob sometimes as well, I just offer then give up and feed her a bottle while pumping. I wonder if it's just a feeding cue I'm missing sometimes or if she's just being ornery in that moment.

@wildrainbow good luck with the eval, even if he has hypertonia, it's so good that you're on top of it!

AFM I started at my new job today. I was randomly emotional all weekend and this morning about not spending the day with Penny. Nothing beat those evening snuggles though.
  • @wildrainbow thank you for the tip! i remember someone (maybe it was you?) mentioned the referred shoulder pain from gas during a csection; i didn’t think about that possibility for this preocedure too—it’s good to know.
that’s so awesome that your bf will be hanging out and meeting M! what a wonderful memory it will be. hope you have a great time catching up.
let us know how he does at his ei appointment and what they say. elise ended up showing off for the pt and turned her head just fine. i guess changing the way we were holding her was good enough to help stretch out the tightness. the pt didn’t think she’ll qualify for services, and just gave me a couple tips for other ways to stretch her neck out. the other appointment is with the person who evaluates social development (or something), which i personally do not think is a concern at all, so i’m pretty sure that after that, it may be the end of ei for now.

@mockingjay1 any guesses as to why he might be upset? i hope whatever it is, you can figure out a good solution.

@hollyeva congrats on starting your new job!

5 days ago i was shoveling 4 inches of snow away from the cars, and today i had the ac blasting on the way to preschool because it was in the 60s. february, go home, you’re drunk.
  • @highsteaks it was 78 here today
  • Sydney is doing better, thanks to all of you for asking! She still has a terrible cough so she's not sleeping well. But at least the fever is gone and she can be back at day care. I actually took her to the ER on Sunday because I was just so scared about her raspy breathing, but her oxygen levels were perfect and the doctor said she'll just sound bad like this for a while.

@wildrainbow Sydney just started looking up at her mobile while in her swing and it's so fun watching her really look at things now! I'm anxious to hear how big M has gotten at his appointment later! When is his EI evaluation? Please let us know how it goes. I hope you have a great time with your friend visiting! That sounds wonderful.
@hollyeva How exciting about your new job. How do you like it so far? What do you do?
@highsteaks How was your appointment today? Are you starting to feel any better about your procedure? Sydney had her MAG3 scan on her kidney today and I thought you might want details about it so you know what it was like. I'll put it in a spoiler in case anyone wants to skip it:

It was a very long appointment but it was pretty easy for the most part. They started by putting an IV and a foley catheter in. After that, they let me feed her so she would be relaxed and sleepy. Then they injected her with the dye and strapped her to a papoose board and put her into an MRI machine (or something like that). It sounds cruel to say they strapped her down, but it was just like a swaddle and she didn't mind it at all. It kept her snug and warm. They ran the dye through for 30 minutes and watched it flow through her kidney, into the bladder, and out through the urine. After that, they ran it through for another 30 minutes. Then they propped her up to make sure all the dye ran through and scanned her for one more minute to make sure it was all out. After that, they removed the IV and catheter. Then we met with the urologist later in the day to go over the results. She said her kidney looks perfect and I'm so happy!

  • @hollyeva - he doesn't want the bottle either! Fingers crossed he keeps it up but he's done a little better today. I've had to still use the paci trick to get him latched, but at least we've had some feedings in the double digits time wise. I still don't think it's enough, but it's an improvement especially over yesterday. @highsteaks - no idea why he's doing it. I took him to the ped yesterday to rule out illness and she was just as clueless as I am. She recommended going to lactation clinic and doing a weighted feeding. I sent DH to target to buy the changing pad that is also a scale (because no where in town had a regular baby scale). So far he's gotten 5oz and 3oz of the feedings I've weighed him, but like I said today has been better. If nothing else at least we can use it to trend his weight to make sure he's gaining appropriately. It's definitely been stressing me out the last few days. I just want to make sure nothing more serious is going on.

  • @offtoneverland serious thank you thank you for explaining the MAG3. i appreciate you taking the time to write that all out, and it makes me feel easier knowing what to expect. how did S do getting the iv and catheter placed?

@mockingjay1 it would be so nice to be able to read their minds in times like that! i can’t remember, did he have reflux when he was a newborn? i remember you telling me that your pedi said it peaks around 4 months, but i’m sorry, i can’t remember if you said whether it was ds1 or 2 who had it. i ask now because i see my twins acting out lately, arching their backs and fussing during feeding, and the pt i mentioned it to yesterday immediately said that sounded like them reacting to their reflux.

tgif: just got home from the final appointment this week. synopsis—
elise is good, just about definitely is not going to qualify for ei services.
emilia’s kidneys are doing exactly what they should at this point; good kidney is growing bigger and the hydronephrosis is also gone, plus her bad kidney is showing signs of shrinking. her kidney doc was really really supportive of starting her on probiotics. we’re switching her antibiotic from amoxicillin to something different that is supposedly better at targeting just the bacteria that could cause UTIs, leaving the rest of the good bacteria alone. the plan is to stop antibiotics at 6mo. next appointment isn’t until august, and still waiting til she’s bigger to do the contrast dye test.
my pre-op appointment was ok. i do still feel like crying about the whole thing once in awhile, but the frequency of doing so is lessening. i did eventually sob to dh, which i think has helped me process a bit better. @wildrainbow sorta speaking of, i’d say that dh’s recovery was a solid 5 days with pain, and then 2 more until feeling completely back to normal.
  • Gentle hugs @highsteaks and yay for Emilia’s kidneys!

Sydney is a rockstar @offtoneverland I hope the cough goes away soon. It’s so scary when they’re sick :(

@hollyeva I hope the transition to the new job goes smoothly!

@mockingjay1 it makes me so sad to think of that sweet, chubby baby not eating much. I’m glad you have a scale for reassurance.

@highsteaks let yourself be sad and grieve about no more kids- it’s such an emotional thing. Sending you hugs
  • I need to get better about checking here daily to stay in touch with the non-FBers!

James is huge. We had to break out the 6-9 month clothes even though he’s only just turned 3 months. He was 15 lbs 5 oz at his Two month so I can only imagine what he will be at his three month. He’s the sweetest thing. Definitely my most chill of the 3 kids. However it still won’t latch on to a bottle. Our babysitter is able to get him to gum the bottle enough that he gets a few oz of milk every time he’s hungry but it’s nowherr near what he usually gets when nursing so on work nights he’s up cluster feeding half the night. I’m exhausted but I know this phase won’t last forever.

I went back to work after my leave. Although I Iove my job, I’m finding myself leaning towards taking a year off to stay home. I miss my littles so much when I’m there.
  • I shared this on FB too- my pediatrician told me an easy way to see if you need to go up a diaper size is if the tabs don’t reach the blue line. Some generic brands may not have the lines but Pampers, Huggies, etc do. Picture below. This is my third baby and I had no idea lol

    @booksandcoffee thank you  <3
sorry to hear that he’s giving you a hard time taking bottles and therefore cluster feeding motn. that’s so tough, and i imagine also making the thought of stay at home a bit enticing. what do you do now? and my mind is blown about the blue lines! why is this not on the packaging?! or maybe it is, i’ve never read the box lol.

    eta— @knottie316f5da8c50bc1a3 i see you. what’s up?
  • @highsteaks I'm so glad it was helpful! It took them a while to find a vein for the IV. They had to poke her twice, so it easnt terrible. Probably took them an hour though. I had fed her about 3 hours before, so it may have been better if I had fed her more recently. The catheter was easy peasy and she didn't even cry when they inserted it.
That's good to know that Emilia should only be on antibiotics for 6 months. I've been wondering how long Sydney will be on them. I sent a message to the urologist to ask. Here's a pic of S during the scan:

  • Hi everyone! I'll probably add this to the intro topic too but wanted to say hi since I've been popping in lately.

Background: FH and I are both 26. I'm originally from the Midwest but have been living in Maryland the past few years. Our baby boy Elliott, was born on Nov 13. We were team green turned blue which was a super exciting experience as first time parents.

We started daycare recently since I went back to work and poor lil guy got RSV and brocolitis. Ugh! It's been a week and he sounds so much better now. Still congested but he's smiling again. Probably won't take him back to daycare until at least next week

Found out he weighs 13 pounds when we took him to the doctor. I started putting away his NB and 0-3mo clothes that don't fit and pulled out some 6mo items. Not ready for him to grow up yet...
  • Hey, y'all. Sorry I've been MIA. My BF was here Thurs through Sat. I've been working on getting the kids back on their schedule. It's awesome having guests, but it sure does take a lot out of everyone. I think M is going through his 4 month sleep regression earlier than I expected. I'm not a fan. He's been up every 2 hours since Thursday. Last night he was up at 4 and didn't go back to sleep until 6. I'm not a fan. Ds1 has been extra this week. The 3 year old emotions are giving me whiplash. His birthday is the 24th and we are going to have mommy son day since he can't have a party.
  • @offtoneverland aww, that picture would make me so sad if i didn’t already know that S was comfy during the procedure. upsetting to see our little ones surrounded by hospital machinery, even if it’s nbd to them.

@knottie316f5da8c50bc1a3 hello! and congrats on having your first little one! if you’re thinking of sticking around these parts, will you consider changing your screenname to something easier to @ and recognize?

@wildrainbow so excited for you that your bff came to visit! but yea, houseguests are draining, even if you’re having a good time. hope the 4mo regression doesn’t last long for you. just when you were getting some better rest! and my prayers are with you as ds1 turns 3  ;)  what are you planning on doing for mother&son day??

    my surgery is friday. ugghhhh.

also, guess who else got their first pp period obnoxiously early? this chick, this morning. another uggghhhhh. whhyyyyyyy???

good, exciting news: where’s @ashkee05? i finally ordered a keenz stroller wagon! suppose to arrive this weekend, and i’m excited to trick it out and head outside when the weather gets nice.
  • @highsteaks mine period just finished. Bled for 7 days. I hope it's a one off, but I dunno. For ds1 we are going to Newtopia, which is an Indore gym/play area. Basically, I plan on running him ragged, haha.

In other news, ds1 crawled in my lap this morning, told me his tummy hurt, the projectile vomited all over me. It was super fun times.

We got our birth story, including the the first time BF and leaving NICU, yesterday. It was much harder than I expected to see those pics. Our photographer did a great job capturing our emotions when we realized M would need to be transferred. Also, he is a giant now compared to how small he was when we brought him home.

Hey all, the past couple weeks have been crazy since I started back to work. I have been lurking when I have a minute but never get a full response typed. It's been tough being away from Penny during the day but we're getting used to the new normal. I hope everyone's doing well!
@wildrainbow visitors are fun, but by do they crater that sleep schedule! Hopefully LO well get back into their groove soon. I feel to on those 3 year is emotions and the whiplash! DD2 has moments where she hates me for 2 minutes, I discipline her for something she did (usually hitting) then she's suddenly the sweetest kid on the planet. Enjoy your mother son day!

@highsteaks thinking if you today as you go into surgery and good luck! Keep us posted on how it goes!

I finally got a decent pic of all the girls together.

  • just a quick update on me: surgery went fine this morning and i have been comfortably resting at home. the pain meds make me a tad bit sleepy. i’m doing good, both mentally and physically. glad it’s all done. @wildrainbow i owe you big. thank you for all the insight about the procedure, and also the post-op advice. and thank you for talking me down yesterday  <3
  • @highsteaks I'm glad all went well! And any time, lady. I got you.  ;)
  • @highsteaks I'm so glad it went well! How are you doing today? Hope you get some rest and heal up.
I'll page @ashkee05 about the Keenz stroller :)

@wildrainbow What are your plans for mommy-son day with M for his birthday? That sounds so fun. I'm sorry about the sleep regression. I think Sydney is there too. She had been sttn before she got rsv and now that she's mostly recovered from that, she wakes up more often and wants to be held.
It must have been so great seeing your friend. I hope you had a blast, even thought it was a bit disruptive of schedules.

Afm- Sydney has a uti and has been in the hospital since Thursday night. 😢 My husband took her to the ER after talking with the renal doctors, then after they confirmed it was a uti, they said they wanted to watch her for at least 24 hours, so they admitted her. Her fever keeps shooting up so I hope the new antibiotics kick in soon so we can get out of here.

@offtoneverland so sorry about Sydney, UTIs are so scary when they're so little. I recall the feeling when I watched DD1 get catheterized just to test for one. I can only imagine the hospital stays.

@wildrainbow how's the sleep schedule doing?

@offtoneverland omg noooo. i’m so sorry!! i didn’t even know a uti meant hospital admission! hope she’s getting better and you all can get out of there. what antibiotic are they putting her on?

@ashkee05 we picked black. love your teal though and wish that was still available. it arrived yesterday and we’ve already taken it around the block for the first time just a few hours ago, letting the twins ride bassinet style. told dh that i got the rec from someone on my mom board and that your dh put lights on yours for halloween, and when we got back home my dh was like, “now we have to think about what we can do with this on halloween” :D so, a few things i want to discuss when you get a chance— the cup holders you bought from amazon: can you still fold the wagon up with them attached? i saw a tokidoki liner that i’m in love with (which of course made me doubley think of you), but it’s being sold on a random third party site and i have no idea if it’s a scam. have you added anything else since your last update? i know the buckles are all crazy in this pic, but i think we figured them out. eta—where/how did you place the personalized decals on your wagon?
    pip *poof*
  • @highsteaks They put her on treflox something or other? I would go find the right spelling but I'm afraid my app will crash. It's not going super well, actually  They transferred her back to Baltimore where she spent her first 5 weeks of life so she could be near her nephrologist and urologist. The antibiotics aren't working and as of this afternoon, her UTI is still "raging" and her white blood count went up a lot. In addition, her creatinine levels increased a lot overnight, so she's getting another ultrasound to see if she has a blockage. :(

I love your wagon! I want one so bad! I can't wait to see it all tricked out with a tokidoki liner!

@highsteaks omg I love them!!! So cute! I will attach pics of decals and all my stuff I ordered from amazon. There’s only two new purchases which include the travel tray and the power hook since someone’s phone was always shut. Where do you find the liner? I will look at see if any of the vendors in my fb groups have Etsy or websites. There is also so much stuff you can do for Halloween. I so wish you were on fb so I could add you to the groups! The more I see the black the more I wish I would’ve got it but I do love my teal. I actually had a random girl from one of the groups message me asking if I’d sell it! Lol you can fold it with cup holders oh bht I honestly prefer to take them off. But I also have a nice little storage area in the back of my van I just throw them in. I will also attach a pic of where I store my canopy when not in use! Welcome to the club and lmk if you ever have any questions!

@offtoneverland if you decide to take the plunge message me, I’ll show you the groups on fb!

One name decal on each side and our number/anti theft one on the bottom. It got a little jacked up but you can still read what it says and here is how we store the canopy when not in use. Also be ready for all the questions! Lol we get stopped so much when we are out with it! I also love it more every time we use it!
