So since I'll be needing lots of caffeine-free, low-cal, non-alcoholic beverages for the next 9 months (and my LaCroix spending was already out of control) I bought a Sodastream yesterday. I set it up this morning and I may have gone overboard on the unlimited sparkling water. I drank too much and I look like I'm like 7 months pregnant and I also feel like my stomach is going to explode. Like a seagull who has eaten Mentos. This is just a PSA: highly recommend the Sodastream, don't recommend guzzling that stuff all day.
It's insane, really. Like there's a certain minimum % reflective surface they have to have because of traffic safety, they can't weigh more than xxx grams because obviously kids aren't that heavy, the weight distribution needs to be ergonomically optimized, easy-to-use buckles...I'm sure I'm missing something. Oh, and obviously BPA and Phtalate-free, etc.
Add to this that first grade is this huge deal anyway, like with extended family travelling into town, and mass being read, and all incoming first graders getting this cute cone thingy with presents inside, and restaurants running first grade specials for families booking the entire space (!)....the list goes on. I guess the wacky backpack prices and requirements fit right in.
Spoiler for pic of huge cone thingies.
Oh, the kicker? Grade school only goes until 4th grade, so most kids only use the bags for 4 years because middle schoolers wouldn't be caught dead wearing grade school bags.
Also, @jenferlee82 - hi to a fellow Kansan! Born and raised in Manhappenin

@grapeskittles4lyfe That is absolutely wild all around! Here I thought that the big deal made of preschool graduations around here was over the top (I still do). 😂
And yay to Kansas! We are in little old Hays, but I’ve been to Manhattan a bunch, always a good time!
Is anyone else watching Russian Doll on Netflix? I’m obsessed. Only three episodes left, and I intend to finish them tonight.
On a scale from 1-10 how vulgar do you find it? I have heard amazing things about it, but I find that a lot of netflix originals end up going a bit past my threshold for that sort of thing. I don’t mind some occasional swearing or mild adult content but after a certain point it just stresses me out to watch it.
@ceclarlinetlo Hmmm.... maybe 7? The lead character is a mess, but I still find her likeable. (Mind you, I used to do stand-up comedy in Los Angeles and have heard it all so my threshold is pretty high.) They do use the "c" word quite a few times. I'll finish the series tonight and let you know if anything super raunchy/crazy happens in the last three episodes.
P.S. It's co-created by Amy Poehler, which is extra fun.

7 is probably about where it starts being a gamble for me but I think its worth a shot. Thanks!
I’m an avid follower of the British Royal Family and just saw this picture of Prince Harry and Meghan from an event earlier today. Her due date isn’t known but she told people at an appearance she was due around the end of April/beginning of May. I know everyone’s body is different but she is either having twins or the biggest baby ever, right? She looks great but that belly be poppin’
End of April/early May is in 12ish weeks so that would make her just entering 3rd tri, right? I wonder if its just a weird angle/the coat making her look bigger? Or she could be like me and have no torso. I was #teamcomicallylargebelly
Edit to add my 28 week belly for comparison under the spoiler
@melanier26 no, she’s probably closer to end of april than May. She’s just carrying lower. That’s when DS2 was due and my belly was large like that, just higher.
If she’s like me, she lied about her due date so there’s no stalking (MIL will stalk so we lied 🤷🏼♀️)
And psst. Sex doesn’t determine height of belly- it’s all on the mother’s torso height. If anything, that’s a girl belly. My boys were so high up on my lungs at that point that you’d think they were living in my boobs
Yesterday was a hard day for me. My first baby turned one. I cried about 3 times, lol 😥 it was an emotional day for me. He’s so smart, funny and brings so much light into our lives and it’s so true when people say “they grow up so fast”. As much as I hated hearing that when I was pregnant with him, yesterday made me realize, that it’s the truest thing. So, for all you (soon to be) first time mom’s, don’t blink. Cherish every moment.
@jcbh2018 You son is adorable! I was the same way when mine turned 1. I Cried and cried when I put him to bed the night before his birthday. To me it felt like his "last night as a baby." Now he's 2 1/2 and I still feel like a "new mom." The time really does go fast.

Awe, thank you. I also cried the night before. That same exact thought popped into my head, so, I didn’t want to put him to bed. Haha. I just cuddled him and gave him so many kisses.
