  • @Imajin99 omg this is th best news ever!!!! How exciting have u started peeing on sticks? U r PASP!!!! This is such amazing will I get another beta? They should b testing ur Prog before the 20th.

@bakerstreetboys I think of u often as well.  I till haven’t update my signature after I got pregnant as I was afraid to jinx it I guess.  I would bank embryos if I were u.  All I wanted to do was be pregnant again after my mc but age wasn’t on my side either.  My RE went through charts and stats and it always showed the health of eggs decline at age 42.  I was concerned if I MC again gdforbid then I might not get another chance o banking it was for me.  I thought I would do 2/3 cycles to bank embryos but my body didn’t cooperate as I had hoped and did another 5 cycles all OOP and then I transferred, best decision for me in the end as I’m watching my LO finally sleep!

    @hopefuljj <3

@emmasemm excited to get this show on the road! Curious what ur era will say.  Pm me! I’m laughing my girl just turned 8 months and she thinks she can run already! I would prefer if she crawls first! My Lil overachiever over here!!

  • Thanks for your thoughts ladies.  We haven't met with the RE yet, but I'm pretty set on doing another full cycle.  I only get 2-4 eggs per cycle as it is, so I really feel like I need to try and get another one or two embryos while we can. I have such a long list of questions for the RE.  There seems to be mixed conclusions on whether it's best to put back one or more at a time; does one healthy embryo have less of a chance of success if it's put in with an unhealthy one, etc.  Ugh, so many questions and decisions to make!
  • -Trigger Warning-

Thank you ladies. Will keep you posted after the first U/S. No more betas by the clinic but I will be seeing my family doctor on Monday and may ask her to send me for one.  Seems like my low back pain has already surfaced.  Other than that feel well, just so nervous.

  • Just a short note to say I’m officially starting meds for my ERA cycle today - baseline showed nice quiet ovaries and a raging uterus (we could actually see my lining breaking up and moving on the screen - no wonder I was feeling tortuous cramping!!!).
Estrogen patches and cetrotide this week. Back next Monday to see my new lining is coming along...

DOR - AMH  .27 High FSH (don't even know how high)
    2 iui's to start - BFN
    IVF 1 -3 made it do day 5!    2 5AA 1 6BB  PGS results =  all abnormal :(
IVF 2 - stimmed for 19 days. insanity. Had 5 follicles that looked mature but only 2 contained mature eggs the others were empty.  Nothing made it to day 5
IVF 3 - added in HGH - 4 mature follicles (had some empties again) 3 made it to day 5/6 for PGS (held for testing with next retrieval
IVF 4 - Upped my dosage for the first time - Canceled 11 days into sims - looked like 1 follicle and we were afraid it was empty
IVF 5 - Canceled -  looked like 1 follicle and we were afraid it was empty
IVF 6 - 3 mature, 2 fertalized 1 made it to day 5 and sent for PGS

Sent in IVF round 3 and 6 (4 embryos) for PGS testing and got 2 normal embryos!!!  1Boy and 1Girl. Took a little over a year to get those two embryos so demanded all sorts of test prior to attempting transfer. Did EFT, ERA and NK Cells testing.

FET#1 - Intralipid drips, Prednisone, and did a depot lupron shot before starting the FET protocol
    Chemical pregnancy
    FET#2 - PGS normal boy - BFN
Natural pregnancy - cycle following the FET2????   Miscarriage at 8 weeks.  viability scan had shown an enlarged yolk sac so I had been warned that it was likely not chromosonally normal :(

DEIVF cycle - picked a donor who is willing to be open! Her cycle resulted in in 4 PGS Normal embryos
    1st transfer - chemical pregnancy
    2nd transfer - success, May 17 2020 due date!

  • Does anyone here have experience with hormone cycling to bring FSH down? I’m 37, recently discovered I have.345 AMH 55 FSH...test was done on day 12 though so I don’t know if it’s as accurate as D3? First doctor would barely speak to me and only would refer me to DE program. Switching doctors, pretty much broken hearted at this point. When I missed my period a couple of times last year my CNM wouldn’t refer me for testing even though my mom went through menopause at 40. Finally I did an end run around her and got the tests myself. I don’t have much trust left in me for doctors right now.
  • @lucyb1954 sorry you find yourself here
First of all sounds like you are smart and able to research and advocate for yourself - which gives you the best start possible. Research the hell out of everything. If you haven’t read this thread from start to end, do it.

Get a new doctor. Definitely. Get a Reproductive Endocrinologist specializing in DOR patients. Some see us as a wonderful puzzle to solve, others see us as a nuisance ruining their statistics.

Get your baseline testing done properly. CD12 tells you nothing. Get your FSH done ideally CD 2 or 3 and have E2 done at the same time as high estrogen can affect the FSH result. Get your AFC at the same time. And have your AMH retested at the same time as testing Vitamin D. If Vitamin D is low it artificially suppresses AMH. Only the trifecta of FSH AFC and AMH will allow a doctor to give you a true diagnosis and prognosis.
Key is if you’re still ovulating or if they can get you ovulating. If you are, there is always a small chance - as you will read from the several surprise miracle stories in this thread.

With IVF if you have DOR you don’t get the benefits of those with a good Ovarian reserve of huge numbers of eggs retrieved but even getting 2 or 3 can help increase the odds. Several of us have done banking as you will see throughout this thread.

As for trying to get FSH down if that’s what you need sorry I don’t have any experience other than estrogen priming before my IVF cycles which worked well for me.

  • Wow, you’re far more helpful than my previous doctor already! It’s been such a hard road and being dismissed by a medical professional felt awful. I know making a family might not look like I thought it would and I’m processing that but I can’t tell you how good it feels to have a human who has been there respond to me. I’ve felt so alone and people keep asking me how baby planning is going. Thank you! <3

If you’re into researching yourself then the links which have been brought together and passed on by the famous “calcotje” are worth a read. I can’t find the original link right now but in this blog post she has reproduced them.

  • @emmasemm I'm... existing. We recently saw a second opinion and my AMH is now a 0.262. He wouldn't even try an IUI or Clomid or anything because of my weight. He just kept pushing bariatric surgery, which I don't want. He said they'd refuse to put me under for an egg retrieval, but was apparently more than happy to put me under if it meant he could cut off 3/4 of my stomach. We're currently debating getting a third opinion, but are still trying on our own in the meantime. I'm also doing research involving adoption avenues as well, but domestic infant adoption is just ridiculously expensive.

  • @dreamscapes_ I don’t know your situation but that’s horrible. Doctors can be really awful especially at times when patients are most vulnerable. I’ve thought about adoption as well but I do have a lot of fear about the emotional stuff, if a potential mother backs out, etc. and it is really expensive too. I don’t know how it compares to getting a DE but the last clinic I was at charged about 30K for that process.
  • @Imajin99 oh my goodness!! I am SO excited for you! That is amazing news. Please keep us all updated with your US and progress.
@emmasemm How is your cycle going?
@bakerstreetboys I am SO very sorry to hear of your loss. I hope that you are doing alright.

    ***Trigger Warning, Loss Mentioned***

I am sorry that I have been MIA for so long. The last time I checked in I was taking some time off to settle a dispute with my insurance company. Unfortunately, this is still not resolved. My DH and I were preparing to start our first IVF cycle after taking that month off. I was just using OvuSense temperature monitor and taking supplements. I took a HPT just for the heck of it and it was positive on 1/22. I was over the moon! My betas were great, and I went in for my US which was around 5 weeks 3 days. It turned into a disaster from there. The RN got quiet and said she thought something was wrong. The RE came in and thought either it was earlier than calculated, an ectopic or miscarriage. According to my HCGs at that time, it was a MC. I have been recovering, and my HCG is down to 11 currently. I am crushed, and not sure what to do next. My DH wants to continue to try naturally, but I believe it was an issue with egg quality, and a total fluke. Is there anything else that I can do besides antioxidants and CoQ10?
  • @dreamscapes_ oh I’m so sorry. You do know you can do egg retrieval without sedation??? Especially for DOR patients or mini stim when it will be quite quick...

@annierose3 sorry for your loss. DOR doesn’t mean we can’t get PG. Just it might take longer to find a good egg and depends on how much time you have...

AFM well went in for day 8 monitoring and hey presto my lining is at 14mm already with just one estrogen patch every 24 hours... so as expected we are worried it’s going to be all thick and lumpy... intralipids on Wednesday, back on Friday for another US and maybe hitting the progesterone and clexane on Friday night. Gives a whole new meaning to Friday night shots  :D

And done at home, on the comfort of my couch! In the evening after work. This is definitely the way to do it.
1.5 hours of Big Bang theory and some nice relaxed chatting with the nurse.

I’m almost looking forward to the next one  :D

  • @lucyb1954 Yeah, I'm kind of used to doctors being jerks about my weight. If we do adopt, we may look into foster to adopt, which means that the parental rights have already been terminated. But we don't know just yet.

@annierose3 I'm so sorry for your loss :(

@emmasemm I didn't know that, actually, because neither RE I've seen actually went over any options. All they did was just the basic testing, and the second one didn't even do a US to check on the fibroid that was apparently the size of a tennis ball when they did a US at the previous clinic over a year ago. I'm glad that your intralipids went well! What all did that entail?

AFM? Not sure if this should be in a spoiler or not, so in a spoiler just to be safe.

I'm currently 5 days late. I haven't been late since before I first got on birth control over ten years ago. I had some spotting on the day that my period was expected, but nothing since then. Even then, it was just a tiny bit of brown and one splotch of bright red. I took a test this morning and it was a BFN. So... Not sure what's going on. I'm going to give it a few more days and go from there.

  • Question for the group...what are people doing outside of prescribed medication to encourage fertility? I’ve read various methods on here eg. gluten free, coq10, vitamin D, but wanted to see what was people’s current approach.
  • I’ve been taking CoQ10 (300mg), vitamin D and prenatals. Also avoiding sugar, eating more fruits/veggies, zero alcohol, weened down to one cup of coffee per day and have been removing toxins from my home (plastics, fragrance, harsh chemicals etc.). I’ve been reading It Starts With The Egg. Each chapter inspires more changes to encourage our (DH too) fertility!
  • I’ve just been taking prenatals and vitamin D.

  • @hopefulmom thank you so much, your support and encouragement mean a lot to me.
I made an appointment with CNY and they had a spot this Monday! I just want another opinion because I don’t feel that my current RE is confident with POF and if I proceed with IVF I want my chances to be as good as possible.
  • @emmasemm How did your US go today?
  • **Trigger Warning**

Had the 7 week ultrasound this morning and didn't go very well.  The measurements were low (1.5 week behind) and they could not detect a fetal HB.  RE is not optimistic about possible outcome but will go back after 10 days.  I know a few of you had similar situations and how do you handle this, I am just feeling so numb and heartbroken.

@Imajin99 I'm so sorry.  I completely understand the numb and heartbroken feeling.  I wish I had advice for you; just be gentle on yourself and know that it eventually gets better with time.   <3
  • @imajin99 oh I’m so sorry. Of course we all hope when you go back it’s different, but I know it’s difficult to imagine that it will be.

@dreamscapes_ I also have a fibroid but it is not interfering with my uterus and has not really grown over the last 2 years at all, so the advice I had was leave it as much alone as possible as they wouldn’t want to risk opening up my abdomen unless critical to holding a pregnancy (this was after we decided to go for IVF as we bypass any other issues then). I’ve had a fibroid since I was at least 20 years old but technology changes and scans were in different countries by non specialists so can’t say if it is the same one or if it grew or when over that time.
And hoping you have some good news

@lucyb1954 if you look up the calcotje link (just google it) where another DOR Patient summarizes all the different supplements she looked into and what her RE said that should give you a good broad overview.
i would echo though CoQ10, prenatal and vitD (unless you’re permanent on the beach in Florida :D  !)

@annierose3 hope you’re doing ok and thanks for asking about me!

    @bakerstreetboys how are you doing?

AFM well US on Friday showed everything nice and quiet and my lining was almost 14mm still.

@jamieh2000 I feel so guilty every time I type that my lining gets thick so easily. Literally just looking at an estrogen patch is enough it seems!!! We are all wondering if it’s thick but crappy quality though... I mean 1.5 years of stims is not really ideal...

So Saturday night was the start of progesterone, along with the clexane of course - I’m doing vaginal and Lubion to cover all bases. And ERA/Hysteroscopy is on Thursday!

  • Thanks @emmasemm! I’m still wading through so much reading. My appointment with a new doctor is tomorrow. My emotions are just all over the place- hope/fear/nerves/etc. I’m trying to be hopeful but realistic...it’s really hard

I’m on CD14 and my body seems to be ovulating but the clear blue easy O test I have been using has told me for 4 days now that I am in the high fertility zone but not actually ovulating and I’m getting worried. Maybe my body is acting like it’s ovulating but it’s not? Idk

    @Imajin99
I’m so sorry to hear what you’re going through. I have never gone through it (my trouble is getting pregnant at all) but I have been thinking about you. I hope you’re taking the time you need to stay in bed/take warm baths/feel as depressed as you want to but also reach out for help if you need it. I tend to stuff my feelings down without experiencing them and it never works out well. Anyway know that people out there have you in their hearts.

  • @emmasemm I've been following your progress on a couple of boards!  Great that your lining is still at 14mm.   You're getting so close :)

I've still been keeping up with reading posts, but haven't been posting myself as much lately.  Just feeling overwhelmed with starting again.  The saline u/s went well; no scarring, but my AFC was only 5  :/  We're going to go ahead with another fresh cycle anyway.  There won't be anything to bank, but hopefully we'll get at least one embryo.  If we do only get one, we have the option of defrosting our one frozen guy and transferring them together.  I got a + OPK today, so patches start in a week.  We'll give it a hail Mary shot at doing it on our own this month, but I'm not very optimistic.
  • @bakerstreetboys it’s so hard getting back in the game good luck!! AND miracles always happen this board is proof!!

@emmasemm smooth sailing for ur ERA! Looking forward to the next step!!

@Imajin99 I truly have no words I’m so sorry this is happening! Hoping things can turn around sending extra love and hugs ur way

  • @imajin99 I’m so so sorry.  I know exactly how you feel and it’s just a total chest crushing feeling. All I can say is miracles do happen so hang in there.  I was not able to remain positive when I had my viability scan and it was problematic for similar reasons but I still can’t help but tell you to try to remain so.  I’m thinking of you and sending love and strength.  This is garbage.  We all don’t deserve the uncertainty and pain that often comes on the journey.    Hoping for a miraculous turn around at your next scan.  It can happen. And I hope it does.

@emmasemm intralipids at home with BBtheory?! Who do you think you are! Lol!! That’s  fantastic! Only you would figure out that is even an option! Hahahaha!!

@bakerstreetboys getting started again is really daunting. I feel like my miscarriage broke my ability to keep plowing ahead. I had bloodwork and a saline sono today which I had been putting off post MC and it all felt really traumatic.   Thinking of you.  Glad your saline sono looked clear.

  • @hopefuljj How did the saline sono go?  I hope it was all clear and that you can try again as soon as you're ready.  You're right, it's so hard to pick yourself up and start again.  I guess I wouldn't bother if I didn't think there was even a slim chance that it could work.  It's exhausting though.  Do you know what your next steps will be?
  • Hi everyone. I’ve started seeing a new doctor who is really lovely and supportive of trying a few different options before going to donor eggs. She re-ran some of my tests and my AMH came back as .11. In late December my AMH was .345. How can this happen? Ugh more garbage news.
  • @lucyb1954 I’m also hoping to use my own eggs. I’m still in the testing prep for IVF and start my protocol with my next period in three weeks... anyway, my AMH went UP. I was .771 and I’m now (25 days later) .970. I’m also wondering what effects the test or are my supplements working?? I take 600 mg of CoQ10, prenatal with DHA, vitamin D and I just started DHEA. Did your doctor approve those supplements too? Stay strong and fight the good fight! #teamowneggs
  • Aw thanks! When I got the news about the test results I literally laid down on my office floor and cried. I just started with a new doctor so I haven’t started anything yet. However I am seeing an acupuncturist and taking both a prenatal with DHA and coq10. I am gluten free and exercising more which helps but I hate the GF thing because I love to bake and have yet to bake anything GF that doesn’t go directly into the trash!
