Based on my second beta being 63, with a conservative estimate of doubling in 48 hours, I should have reached 2000 this weekend. DH and I snuck into the clinic and used the TV ultrasound and we couldn’t find an obvious sac. I know he is not a sonography expert, let alone for this early in pregnancy. However, I am a little worried it could be somewhere other than my uterus or it just flat out stopped growing. I texted my PCP and she said she isn’t really worried because its still so early, but she offered me to do another beta if it would put me at ease so I am doing that tomorrow.

I hope you get good news tomorrow!! Don't forget that while most folks say 48hrs, anything under 72 can be completely normal.
When do you think your PCP or OB can get you in for an u/s?

@soralette I am going to see what the numbers look like tomorrow before booking one, but I am leaning towards waiting a full week before going to look again.
@ceclarlinetlo That makes sense to me. Your EDD is somewhere in the second week of the month, right? Or am I misremembering? I think that puts you somewhere mid-5th week, and it's definitely normal to not see much then -- everything's suuuuper tiny, so if the ultrasound wand is off by a fraction of a degree or not 'aimed' into the right depth, it's easy to miss the sac at that point.
My RE doesn't like to have ultrasounds before 7wks. I had to tell the clinic "I'm flying out of town at 7+1, so if there are any problems, a scan at 7+0 will leave me no time to deal"... so we're getting 6+5 instead. whee.

You are so right about the wand angle/degree. That makes so much sense and it is giving me hope. DH is much more comfortable with transabdoninal US and I was not bothered at all not seeing anything that way, because its So early. I think I just had the perfect storm of things to cause me to jump straight to ectopic or loss. My first loss was a blighted ovum so not seeing a sac just brought me back to finding that out. But logically I know that was discovered at 8 weeks last time, which is a huge differece than somewhere around 5 weeks. The other issue is that I was tracking my temps and I only got a clear shift 5 days before my first BFP which is just impossible for an interuterine pregnancy. However, I know it is much more likely that my temps were off because I wasn’t sleeping well at that time. But when you’ve been on the wrong side of statistics twice its easy to assume you’ll be there again.
I cried about it a lot last night to get my feelings out, but then I decided that I am just not ready to be sad yet. I want to try to choose joy until there us unequivocal proof things are over.
Beta from yesterday came back in at 7,944. I feel really conflicted about this. Its wonderful to hear its continued to increase but I’m a little more worried we didn’t see anything. I am just telling myself that DH is not an expert sonographer so its not the same as someone one very experienced not seeing something at this point, but I’m still a little freaked out.

So, the 2000 is really just a guideline, and because what you can see at that point really depends on so many factors, it really isn’t a good pinpoint for what you should or shouldn’t see.
My HCG is much higher and the sonographer had a difficult time seeing something at the 6w mark because it really is that early and they don’t have level 2 equipment

When I saw that number I immediately thought of you and wondered how many weeks you were when you got that beta of over 6,000. I keep telling myself that I don’t know my exact ovulation date so I have up to a weeks leeway for dating here. It makes me feel better to hear the sonographer had trouble seeing yours.

I was exactly 5 weeks for that number. I had my scan at exactly 6w (they were thinking my dates were off- nope, just a high beta producer, apparently).
Being off by a few days makes a major difference on if you’ll see something or not at this point
Is it common to track betas like this? It’s fun watching everyone’s numbers, but I’m curious if it’s more of an American thing, or doctor’s choice?
No, it’s actually not common. It’s provider specific and depends on your history. If you’ve been seeing an RE or have RPL, then it’s typical to get betas. Outside of that, it’s usually one draw at your first OB app when they run the maternity panel
I kinda wish my doubling times were a bit quicker, but my RE says anything under 72 is good! ^^
I totally get wishing to be “textbook” but its great news that your RE isn’t concerned! He definitely has more experience with betas as an RE than other types of providers. Welcome!
Just got my first beta back: 349. Not sure of my exact ovulation date but my guess is that the test was something like 16 dpo. Getting a second blood draw tomorrow as long as the snow doesn’t close everything.
I wish my Dr was monitoring my betas. Just for my peace of mind. I have resulted to obsessively peeing on sticks to see some progression in the line darkening. (Why not? I have plenty of leftover tests lol) anyone else in my boat?
I will feel a bit more at ease after my first appointment (next week)
I do love seeing everyone's numbers going up keep em multiplying!
@limeferret +1 to watching that line get darker. And to be honest, getting betas is not giving me more peace of mind than POAS - I have to wait a day for the results instead of 3-5 minutes!
@limeferret, I also peed on sticks obsessively (about 30+ times 🙈) to watch the line darken, but I had to stop for my sanity. Eventually the line stops getting darker, and in fact may stsrt to get lighter (search for the hook effect). So just FYI you may want to stop POAS soon if seeing a lighter test will bother you.
Hello! Just had my first bloodwork done on 2/21 and hgc levels were 50K. Using the date of my LMP I am a little over 8 weeks, but won’t know for sure when I have my first internal sono next week. Anyone else have an estimate based on these levels? This is my first pregnancy so I’m a newbie!

Betas are not a good way to estimate due date or gestational age. As you’ll see in this thread, there is a wide variation. You can be as early as 6w or as late as 8/9w with those numbers. If your LMP was 8w ago, go by that until your scan unless you know for a fact it’s not possible
I felt so good about my numbers.... i know they quit doubling as time goes on but over 4 days we go from 28 hrs to 62... then seeing posts where people go from 10k to 20k i feel like my numbers are still to slow to suddenly drop this far in doubling time 😑
Re: Beta HCG results
2/7 (16dpo) 419.5
tripled in 48 hours! Doctor and I are both happy with those numbers.
