**TW** Spotting Support and Questions **TW**

Unfortunately, there have been a lot of posts about spotting in the monthly symptoms thread and other places. Please feel free to use this more visible thread to discuss and give/receive support.

There's a general TW on this whole thread.

Hugs to you all

Re: **TW** Spotting Support and Questions **TW**

  • I will start as I'm hoping my post will help others. I had very light brown spotting from 5w2d to 5w6d, then again on 6w2d. I called my DRS office and the nurse assured me it was quite common and usually nothing to worry about. I haven't had any since and I'm currently 7w3d all based on my LMP. I'm definitely not out of the woods yet but it's much less scary now that the spotting has subsided. I have had 3 losses in the past. My first one I had slightly pink spotting that went away and then came back full force about 4 or 5 days later when I miscarried. My other two losses I didn't have any brown spotting and just went straight into bleeding. Everyone's body is different and symptoms can vary greatly but this has been my story. If you are going through spotting, my heart is with you. It's such a scary experience but hopefully it's nothing concerning.

I started off this pregnancy with heavy bleeding for three straight days. It then varied between brown and red spotting for another week or so. Once I got on progesterone, it stopped and I hope it stays that way *knocks on wood*. I was diagnosed with a subchorionic hematoma at my last appt and it will be closely monitored. With my loss in Oct. I had absolutely no spotting or any indication something was wrong. I'm hopeful that we acted early and can keep this little one thriving. Hugs to all of you experiencing spotting/bleeding. It really is so scary!

  • I had pretty consistent spotting up until around 8w. It was scary, but everything was fine at 8 week US. It seemed to happen when I would hold my pee for too long. Definitely spotting from my vagina and not from my urethra, so not UTI related. Looking forward to my next appointment at 12w. Good luck everyone!
  • Hopefully this will be reassuring to others. Last Tuesday I woke up and had bright red spotting. It stopped, but I was obviously freaked out. My OB ended up getting me in for an U/S and everything looked perfect with baby. No idea what the spotting was about, but it has not returned.

  • A few weeks back I wiped and had a bright pink streak in my discharge. Having went through a loss with my first pregnancy (this is my fourth pregnancy) I broke down crying, had my mom watch the kids and DH and I went to the ER. My HCG levels were high and everything looked normal, it was just too early to pick up a heartbeat. Not the most reassuring thing ever but was basically told that they have no reason to believe anything is wrong. I'm anxious person so it's been difficult, but I've had no pain or any other forms of spotting or pink in my discharge since and morning sickness has kicked in so I'm hoping for good news on Wednesday when I have another ultrasound. I haven't been super active yet for this reason but...

"Today, I will not stress over the things I cannot control"
This has basically been my mantra to pass time until I hear a heartbeat.
  • So yesterday me and Dh DTD and I had some mild bleeding after.  I'm a little freaked but trying to keep a positive mind about this.  Poor DH though isn't very good at consoling and was having  hard time trying to say the "right" thing.  My next appt is in 2 weeks and the bleeding has stopped so I am not sure if I should call the Dr or not.  There's not much the Dr can do, what happens will happen. and I already told my husband that we are not on pelvic rest for the time being so...
  • @monkeysmom80 I'm sorry you're going through that. I know spotting after sex is very common but just hearing that doesn't stop a women from freaking out. FX it stays away.

I haven't been participating much lately because I'm still spotting. It'll go away for a couple of days and then it comes back. Its only been brown so that should be reassuring to me but it's not. Both RE and OBs offices thinks it's fine but that's also not reassuring enough. I have an appointment this Thursday so I'm going to push for an US. I just wish the spotting would stop! My emotions are already all over the place, this isn't helping at all!

  • @monkeysmom80 I usually get some spotting after sex too. It's always so hard not to freak out! It's very common though, so hopefully that will give you some peace of mind.

@LJMoon6 I'm sorry you're still spotting! Did they ever diagnose you with an SCH? That's what I have, but I've been on pelvic rest so no spotting so far. Hopefully yours will stop soon and you can jump in here full force  <3

  • @LJMoon6 Hugs. I was spotting and dr had no idea what was going on. It seems to have stopped. But they couldn't see an SCH. They told me it was irritated cervix (no sex, so irritated from what?!). I get how you feel.

  • @LJMoon6 and @zuuls_mom Thanks ladies! I know its common but it's still freaky.  It was definitely more than spotting but not a sever bleed. I'm much less concerned right now though because it has stopped and I never had any pain associated with it.  Just weird because never experienced with my previous 2 pregnancies.

Ljmoon6, I hope the spotting stops for you!
  • @zuuls_mom No they haven’t diagnosed me with a SCH. The last US I had (2 weeks ago) everything looked fine. I’ve had more spotting since tho. I was also on pelvic rest but I think since I was released by my RE I’m no longer on it… But I’ve still been taking it easy. The spotting is so weird tho. I’ll get a little bit at night and then a lot in the morning the next day and then nothing for 2-4 days. There’s nothing that seems to bring it on either. IDK. I’m just anxious to check to make sure everything is ok.

@rms924 When did your spotting stop? Mine started around weeks 6 and my RE thought it was just an irritated cervix. Which makes sense since I was on progesterone suppositories. But now that I’ve stopped those I’m still spotting, so I have no idea (we also haven’t had sex). I’m 9 weeks today. It’s all been brown tho which they say is good. But I don’t understand how brown is good just because it means old blood. Blood is blood no matter if it’s new or old.

@monkeysmom80 Thanks! I’m glad your spotting has stopped!

  • @LJMoon6 so mine started at 9 weeks and kept going until last week (I am about to be 12 weeks today). TMI alert: started out with mucus tinged with brown blood but it actually got to be bright red (in mucus, still). No sex, because dh thinks it will "disturb" the baby. Apparently, someone missed 6th-grade Health Class. I got an U/S (2, actually) and they told me that everything looked fine.

I actually found that the spotting seemed to coincide with days where I really pushed myself (I have a tendency to do that). So, I've been watching that but it really could be a coincidence. Last pregnancy, I literally kickboxed the whole time, so I think we women are made of sturdier stuff. I TOTALLY get how stressful it can be. The stress is worse for you, imho- get that U/S, so that you can be reassured. :)

  • I started spotting last week and had a second ultrasound today to get another checkup on baby. Baby is fine but it seems that we had twins in the beginning and now we have one. Reassuring to know that this one is measuring on track however sad for the one we lost. Now I’ve been referred to a specialist and just waiting and hoping everything is ok from here. And on pelvic rest until further notice.
@LJMoon6 I would definitely push for an ultrasound.
  • I started spotting a week ago and they said it was a SCH, it comes and goes. @rms924 mine also picks up when I work harder which bums me out! I finally feel good enough to work out again, but I'm scared of spotting more.
  • Hoping to give some comfort. I had spotting from week 5 to week 7, 3 days. I also had cramping. After a trip to the ER i was diagnosed with threatened miscarriage. My first uultrasoun was moved up and i was told every thing look alright. I had a hemmorage fron the placenta forming and attaching. Moral of the story, today i am 11 weeks, no spotting and baby is doing fine. Chances are you and baby will be ok. Just remember to breathe and tell yourself everything will be ok.  I hope this gave someone hope and alittle reasurance.
  • @bubsalicious any more info or updates on your SCH?

In case anyone isn’t familiar with me yet, I’m the woman who has whined over the last three months because I’ve had never ending morning sickness, an ear infection, a respiratory infection, the f***ing flu, and noooooow I spent the wee early hours of this morning at the ER because I have at least two subchorionic hematomas in my uterus and had what I thought was my water breaking this morning. I’m literally terrified as :::TW::: we’ve had 4 MCs before :::END TW::: I’m on complete bed rest until another US on Tuesday to see what’s going on, and have had a lot of cramping. I haven’t done a lot of research because I’m scared of the horror stories, but know it’s a reality. Anyone else have SCH’s with good news?!?

  • @sunshine2417 I don’t have any experience with SCHs to share, but I’m sending positive vibes your way. I’m so sorry you’ve been so sick and are now dealing with this scariness on top of it all. All the love and strength to you and your LO in there. Keep us updated.
  • Thank you, @themadcamel! I swear I’m normally a pleasant person and a total optimist rather than being this piss poor but COMMMMEEEE OOOOONNNN! Lol I legit told my boss I’d be happy to print my health records for her if she thinks I’m making shit up at this point because I don’t even believe it myself anymore!

  • @sunshine2417 That is HARD. No info but also thinking of you.
  • @sunshine2417 I’m so sorry you are faced with this stress!! Maybe you could post this in 1 or 2 other birth months and see if you find anyone in the same boat. I wish I could be more helpful. Keep us update and many of us are thinking of you and sending lots of good vibes your way!❤️
  • @sunshine2417 I'm sorry to hear that! I hope things improve for you. Mine reabsorbed. I bled, sometimes more than made me comfortable, for about a week, maybe a week and a half. Then my follow up US was clear. The doctor said it's common because it's the placenta trying to get in the right spot and attach itself?
  • Sending you some good vibes @sunshine247!!! I’ll be thinking of you often (but not in a creepy, internet stalker kind of way!!) ❤️
  • @sunshine2417 no experience to share, just so sorry you're having to deal with all this and thinking of you and sending so many good thoughts your way.
  • @sunshine2417 I had a SCH with DS. It ended up causing me to bleed (cue freak out bc I had had a mc with my previous pregnancy). I went to the hospital and they said it was bc instead of absorbing, it just evacuated. Good luck!
  • @sunshine2417 I’m sorry, it sounds like you’ve have a rough first tri! I’ve never had a SCH but I’ve seen a lot of women with them and the outcome is almost always positive. The SCH won’t hurt the pregnancy unless it’s extremely large. They will usually reabsorb or you will bleed it out, which is super scary but fine. I hope you get good news on Tuesday!
  • @sunshine2417 I'm so sorry you're going through this on top of everything else you've been dealt so far this pregnancy!  Do you have lots of books/movies/podcasts to help keep your mind occupied while you're on bed rest?  More good thoughts for you and LO headed your way!!  <3
  • @sunshine2417 I'm so behind, but just caught up. I don't have much more to add than all these awesome ladies, but just know I'm sending you all the good vibes to be strong! Everything you've gone through isn't fair, but you've got this!  <3<3<3
  • @sunshine2417 I am seriously behind. And, ftr, I hate the app. This is why I miss all of these posts!

    Ok, first: hugs
Second: ladies above said it all :)

One more (long-ish) thing: I've had severe m/s, flu A AND SCH! I bled at 9-11 weeks. Also, super bad cramping.
TW*had a miscarriage before, so I am SO freaked out **TW

I went to my N/T w my fave tech. She's been doing this for 25 years and I think she's more spot on with stuff than my dr. She told me that because my placenta was still right over my cervix, that it was going to cause bleeding and cramping. She could tell I wasn't drinking enough- she basically said I must drink a ton of water every day and to take it easy lifting until the placenta moves out of the way. FTR, she's all about pregnant women stayng active but in my case, she could tell I needed some rest to allow for things to settle. Anyway, I hope something here makes you feel better: depending on the placement of your placenta and other factors, you can experience some of your symptoms. Stay hydrated, get some rest and fx for great results on Tues!

  • Thank you for sharing you experience @rms924! I think I’m mostly frustrated because my tech doesn’t seem to know what she’s really doing at the clinic and they’re so understaffed that it’s hard to get in for appointments and such. And my doctor sees me and listens, but I feel like she doesn’t act with urgency about everything I have going on. So it’s frustrating. I’m planning to look into switching OBs soon but it’s frustrating and hard to do right in the middle of all these issues.

  • @sunshine2417 girl, I am sending you so much love right now! I know how terrifying this is. I had alllll kinds of craziness with this pregnancy too (super low levels, heavy bleeding, crazy late implantation/slow growth, SCH, etc.) and it’s so scary. My SCH resolved itself after a few weeks so I’m hopeful yours will too! I totally agree with you that if these strong willed fighting baby girls get here, they will be so fierce and amazing!! Hugs upon hugs to you ❤️

  • Thank you @zuuls_mom!! This may be TMI but did you have a lot of bleeding with your SCH? Did they monitor them frequently or have you do anything for it? It seems like I’m just on bed rest and working from home and they’ll monitor it every 5-7 days so far.

  • @sunshine2417 I had a lot of bleeding, but only up until about 5.5 weeks. From there it seemed the progesterone stopped it and I was also on pelvic rest so I took it pretty easy. They only checked me every two weeks so I’m glad they’re checking you more frequently!

  • @sunshine2417 I hope you are doing ok! Maybe your provider will be open to your feedback or request for additional monitoring. Or they can maybe send you to a clinic with more expertise. The tech who told me my info was actually at the MFM- our OB has everyone see them for at least the two major scans: NT and AS. I think they can see more and they are more experienced. Can you get a referral to an MFM?

  • @rms924 I'm going to ask this week for an MFM referral. We've had so many issues and I'm nervous that my doctor's US tech didn't catch the hematoma when they had scanned me just a week prior. I know they can show up at any time so maybe they weren't there, but it doesn't make me feel any more comforted. I haven't had any more red blood, just spotting, so hopefully they're healing up! I've been resting a lot this weekend and seriously owe hubby big time for being literally the most amazing husband and father in the world with our toddler.
