  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: August 26 / 10w 6d

Baby is the size of a(n): kumquat today and lime tomorrow!

What team are you on (Blue, Pink, or Green): TBC! Will find out in (hopefully) less than 2 weeks!

Upcoming Appointments: We just had one on Thursday and it was so great. Baby was perfect. We will get our NIPT results in the next 2 weeks and our next appointment isn’t until February 25. I do have to go get blood taken since my iron was low so they can do a more thorough check.

How are you feeling?: Some days, I am great . Some days I am exhausted. I have crazy back pain and still can’t eat much but hoping that begins to subside now since I’m 11 weeks tomorrow.

Rants/Raves: I start school again on Tuesday, which is sad but exciting. We haven’t had classes since before Christmas and it was nice. But I’m excited to be with my friends again!

    Questions: none today!

    GTKY: 2 questions today!

    1. What is your favourite season and why?

Summer! I love the sun and the heat. I really thrive in warm weather and it makes my whole day and ability to want to do stuff better. I hate rain and clouds.

    2. Have you started buying anything for the baby?

Yes. When I was in South Africa, I had to buy stuff despite being nervous about it. It was too cute and too cheap to not do so. I got some amazing stuff for our nursery which will be safari themed and some cute onesies with animals on it. I’ll have to take a pic of some of the stuff and upload it.

Baby is the size of a(n): lime

What team are you on (Blue, Pink, or Green): we will find out at the anatomy scan, I'm hoping for a girl, but expecting a boy. Will love either.

Upcoming Appointments: This Thursday for a repeat dating u/s since the last one was 5 days off from my LMP

How are you feeling?: Doing better, have bronchitis, but finally went to a doctor on Friday, and she gave me strong cough syrup that's safe for pregnant ladies, so I'm finally sleeping.

    Rants/Raves: see above.

    Questions: not really.

    GTKY: 2 questions today!

    1. What is your favourite season and why? Spring, not too cold, not too hot, everything blooming, I love it.

    2. Have you started buying anything for the baby? No in my culture it's considered bad luck to buy anything until the baby is born. But even without that not sure how much we're buying. This is number 3 so we still have basically everything we need.

  • @mrosek91, I hope the cough syrup helps and you’re feeling better in no time!

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 8/24, 11+2

Baby is the size of a(n): limes

What team are you on (Blue, Pink, or Green):

TBD! But my mom-instinct has me SURE that A is a girl and B is a boy. Won’t know til April for sure!

    Upcoming Appointments:

Next week - first check-in w/ my OB, plus meeting with MFM AND another ultrasound (NT test)

    How are you feeling?:

Started meds for the nausea, but they seem hit-or-miss, and make me pretty groggy the next day. My belly is feeling like it’s starting to stretch, and I’m chronically bloated. In other words, I’m very reassuring for the second tri.

    Rants/Raves:

Rant - I feel like the several hours I spent watching Tom Brady and the Patriots win yet another Super Bowl was time I could have spent doing something less depressing. Bleh!

Rave - we announced the pregnancy on social media this weekend, and it feels really good to have it out there in the open now!

    GTKY: 2 questions today!

    1. What is your favourite season and why?

Autumn - nice temperatures, comfy clothes, pretty leaves, and pumpkin spice lattes. Need I say more?

    2. Have you started buying anything for the baby?

Not yet :( But I’ve at least started making a list of things of duplicate items will need b/c...twins. Will probably start once we know genders. Since these two are most likely our last, I’m going to buy some more gender-specific items. Poor DD got stuck with everything gender-neutral!

@AKuzReve So glad your appointment went well, and excited for you to find out the sex! Hopefully everything with your iron test goes well and it's just a supplement you can add! Your nursery sounds like it's going to be adorable. Also, good luck with classes! It's probably nice to have had such a long break, but that also makes it harder to get back into the swing of things!

@mrosek91 I'm glad you're finally getting some relief, but sorry you've been feeling under the weather. This can't be an easy time for added physical stress. Your favorite season response made me think of Miss Congeniality.

@aecm I hope your feeling is correct!! That would be so fun. Congrats on making your announcement!! I'm sure everyone is swarming you with baby excitement. How did you announce?

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: August 27 / 10+6

Baby is the size of a(n): I'm going to go ahead and say lime, even though I think that's tomorrow.

What team are you on (Blue, Pink, or Green): So undecided. Our sneak peak blood test results come back tomorrow or Wednesday, so we'll know then (but we're waiting to announce until our AS, just in case the test is wrong).

Upcoming Appointments: 12-week (and a few days) scan on Valentine's Day.

How are you feeling?: Tired, but pretty good otherwise.

Rants/Raves: Rant: It's impossible to find snow cones in February. The craving is real.

    Questions:

    GTKY: 2 questions today!

    1. What is your favourite season and why? Fall (#basic), mainly because hoodies and staying in become completely socially appropriate.

    2. Have you started buying anything for the baby? Oh, boy. Way too much. I stockpiled diapers and wipes for almost the first year of baby's life (Honest Company and Water Wipes, and saved the Target receipts in case they don't work out for us), also have picked up random things along the way like bottles, some bibs, BIBS USA pacifiers that were just too cute to pass up, crib, organic mattress, a SnuggleMe Organic infant lounger, baby bath tub, high chair, infant car seat and bases, a wall hanging for the nursery, books... Basically, I have no self control. Plus our nursery theme is pretty neutral anyway, so I'll probably just add a couple of small gender-specific things later on.

My MIL is all over me about it because she doesn't think I'm leaving anything for a baby shower, but honestly, all of the baby showers I've been to recently have been all about clothes and "cute" stuff rather than what the new mom really needs. I also don't think it's fair to just assume people will buy you things? I've been getting that stuff out of the way so I won't have to go shopping for it when I'm huge and uncomfortable.

  • @mrosek91 I am glad you got some good, pregnancy safe cough medicine!

@aecm I'm in New England, but not a Pats fan. I wish I went to bed an hour earlier. The commercials weren't even very good!

@Akuzreve A safari themed nursery sounds really cute! I am thinking about outer space themed this time around...

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: August 31/ 10+3

Baby is the size of a(n): chocolate truffle

What team are you on (Blue, Pink, or Green): We are going to find out. I am getting my NIPT drawn tomorrow!

Upcoming Appointments: Just the NIPT tomorrow along with a doppler check. Than no appointments until March 6.

How are you feeling?: I think the nausea is subsiding and energy is coming back some days. I'll take improvement even if it feels incremental!

Rants/Raves: I have a staff member who really gets on my last nerve sometimes. She's also a good person (thankfully, I am really lucky to work with generally great people), so I basically just end up feeling like an a-hole that she annoys me. I need to find some strategies to cultivate compassion and kindness for her, and to not let her get under my skin.

    Questions: Nope.

    GTKY: 2 questions today!

    1. What is your favourite season and why? Summer.  I love the beach and swimming, being able to eat meals outdoors and the longer days. I love having four seasons, but summer always feels so fleeting! And winter always feels so. long.

    2. Have you started buying anything for the baby? Not really, not yet. I need to sit down and figure out when we can us of DS's and what we need to get another of.

  • @oklahomak - we announced by posting two pictures on Facebook. Both have DD sitting on a chair next to a sign, wearing a shirt that says “Best Sister Ever”. In the first picture the sign says “Baby #2 is due in August” and DD is smiling away. In the second picture the sign is changed to “Baby #3” and DD looks shocked / about to cry (ie- the expression DH and I probably had on our face when we were first told we were having twins! Lol).

  • @Amdogger82 Outer space sounds so cute! Not sure if you're wanting to go with a more childish look, or a more realistic look, but Spearmint Love/Little Unicorn has some really cute space-themed crib sheets and swaddles/blankets!

    @aecm Awwww <3 That's too precious!
  • @akuzreve What are you going to school for? I hope you feel better soon.

@mrosek91 I'm glad the cough syrup is helping. It must suck to be sick on top of first tri stuff.

@aecm Lol, I am a Pats fan but admittedly that was the most boring game in Super Bowl history. Plus, the halftime show was horrible. Your announcement sounds cute.

@oklahomak That's sweet you have a scan on Valentine's Day. Would it be too much to buy a snow cone maker? I feel like we had a mini one when I was a kid.

@amdogger82 That is really cool that you are trying to find ways to cope with and accept your co-worker.

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 10w4d

Baby is the size of a(n): Kumquat

What team are you on (Blue, Pink, or Green): Team finding out, but not yet.

Upcoming Appointments: Our next appointment isn't until 2/25. I had my NIPT draw last Thursday so hopefully that will come back soon, but the phlebotomist said it can be as long as 21 days.

How are you feeling?: Pretty good. The bit of nausea I had has gone away and I'm mostly eating normal food. I will say when I decide on something to eat I will only eat that, see below.

Rants/Raves: We were supposed to go to dinner with people over the weekend and I was excited about the restaurant and knew what I would order, then apparently the person who said they were making reservations didn't make them. It was a big group and they didn't have room (and hardly anywhere in town had room) so they had to change to another restaurant. Rather than going to a different place DH indulged me by going to the first place with me, just the two of us, because I was so set on having the thing I wanted. Basically I'm a diva, lol. DH is so sweet.

Questions: For STM+s how far in advance do you need to get on the list for a day care?

    GTKY: 2 questions today!

    1. What is your favourite season and why? I'm going to say fall because I love spring too, but I have the worst allergies.

    2. Have you started buying anything for the baby? I bought one baby carrier when it was posted on the deal thread - it was regularly like $100 and I got it for $40.

  • @zamora_spin I hadn't even thought about buying a snow cone maker, but now that you mention it....
I hope your NIPT results come in quickly! Twenty one days seems like such a long time for a fairly routine process! That's so sweet of YH!
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: Aug 26th / 11 weeks

Baby is the size of a(n): bee hummingbird

What team are you on (Blue, Pink, or Green): waiting to find out

Upcoming Appointments: I had one today for bloodwork, next one is in 2 weeks

How are you feeling?: so so tired

Rants/Raves: I pulled a muscle last night in my back and now it hurts to breathe a little bit. and drive and sit. Ugh so sore.

    Questions:

    GTKY: 2 questions today!

    1. What is your favorite season and why? Fall and spring. I love sweater weather in the fall when its just a little colder in the morning and night but not freezing. And spring. Not too hot and not too cold.

    2. Have you started buying anything for the baby? I've started researching things so far, but this is our third so I don't need too much.

    BFP 03/30/12 | EDD 12/07/12 | DS1 12/01/12
    BFP 06/25/17 | EDD 02/24/18 | DS2 02/19/18
    BFP 12/20/18 | EDD 08/26/19

  • @oklahomak I love Little Unicorn stuff, I will have to check it out!

@zamora_spin I think we started seriously looking at day cares when I was between 15-20 weeks pregnant. There were several, especially the in home day cares, that did not have openings when we needed it. We're going to start looking again, I think, because I really don't know if we can afford to have two in our current day care. Ugh.
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 8/31, 10+2

Baby is the size of a(n): chocolate truffle!

What team are you on (Blue, Pink, or Green): Team finding out! Our NIPT draw is in 2 weeks (we just added it to our 12 week appointment), so we should find out within 4?

Upcoming Appointments: 2/15 NT scan, 2/18 "first" prenatal appt with OB + NIPT draw

How are you feeling?: pregnancy symptoms-wise, I feel great! My boobs are less sore than before, so I'm anxious about fading symptoms but know that can be normal. The sore boobs were the only sign I had of being KU so I'm back to thinking this could all just be in my head

Rants/Raves: Rant: I've had a cold since Friday and really wish it would GTFO. Rave: My parents were in town this past weekend and my mom bought me a maternity outfit AND ordered the crib from our registry since we got the nursery emptied out!

    Questions: None at the moment!

    GTKY: 2 questions today!

    1. What is your favourite season and why? I prefer the weather in the spring - the warmer weather seems so much more appreciated after a long winter. But as far as activities, I love the fall! My birthday is in October, I look forward to beginning a new school year, and there are so many fun things to do in the fall!

    2. Have you started buying anything for the baby? We started a registry with Amazon and Buy Buy Baby, so we got the Amazon welcome box. My MIL sent a few small items bc she's just SO excited, and I bought a onesie, one pack of socks, and little baby booties just because. Otherwise I probably won't buy very much until after the baby shower in early July - as I said above, my mom bought the crib and my MIL mentioned she might want to buy the dresser, so I'm hoping they can be purchased and set up sometime in the next few months. I'm ready to go into full on nesting mode but know I need to wait!

  • @zamora_spin I think the wait list for daycares varies widely from one geographic location to another. As a SAHM I haven’t gone through the process, but I have local friends that were making decisions and getting on wait lists by the end of their first trimester (so, like, NOW). Part-time preschools are also super popular and very difficult to get into around here.

Our suburb has a huge Facebook group for moms - it’s a great resource for getting recommendations and asking local-specific questions like that. Maybe look and see if your area has something similar?
    BabyFetus Ticker
  • @aecm That’s a good idea. I haven’t wanted to ask around since we haven’t announced and probably won’t for a while but maybe I can find a group where I don’t know anyone.
  • @doggomamma my symptoms have been decreasing too, but my OB said it was all good and normal. I think We are one day apart for EDD. If that helps at all!

    EDD Aug 30, 10w3
Baby is the size of a brussel sprout

We aren't going to find out. DH wants to. But has agreed not to for me.

I have another OB appointment on Wednesday morning. Weekly follow ups for the next 5 weeks. It'll be nice to see the HB each week at least!

Feeling okish! Anxious. On bed rest so I'm bored. Feeling kinda... Stupid. I legit forgot it was my birthday today. Realized at about lunch time when I checked FB and saw a bunch of notifications. Wow. That's a first for me. I'm so focused on this pregnancy that it didnt even register what the date was... And not being at work, I haven't paid close attention to dates I guess. Pregnancy brain? Lol

My favourite season is probably summer. It's so short. Like... 5 weeks. So I enjoy it while I can! I'm hating winter a little extra this year haha. 3 week deep freeze is getting old

I haven't bought anything for baby. I feel like it's too early for me. I'm still too high risk.
Plus we are building a house, so we will be moving at the 8 month mark. Carting stuff to the new house would be annoying extra work haha. However, I'll probably start looking for sales once I'm solidly in the 2nd trimester. Get basics like car seat, bassinet... Stuff we would need to get home from hospital/right away if baby comes early. I'm a sucker for deals though. So there's a good chance I'll have a hoard by the 3rd trimester 😂

  • @chillycanadian Happy birthday!!! Are you watching any good shows while on bed rest?
  • @dogmomma096 thank you!
Well I've caught up on most things on Netflix haha. So if anyone has any suggestions of shows I can get on Netflix (in Canada haha) that would be lovely. I watched Riverdale, outlander, unbreakable Kimmy, blacklist, designated survivor, Gotham, that time Traveller one oh man. There have been a lot! (Not all this pregnancy haha. But finished up remaining episodes of everything I was watching). And DH is going back to work soon after 12 days off with me...so I'm gonna be bored.
  • @chillycanadian We have the following on Netflix stateside, all good: Breaking Bad, The Crown (Netflix original), You (this one is only one season but super addictive, I think it was made by Netflix and Lifetime), Better Call Saul (a spin off of Breaking Bad), Glow (Netflix original), Stranger Things (Netflix original). I would think the Netflix originals would all be on in Canada too.
  • @chillycanadian Happy Belated Birthday! I also like the Crown! And Narcos (also a Netflix original), if you are ok with some violence.
  • @chillycanadian, happy belated birthday! Have you watched any of the Spanish shows? They are great. Cable Girls is my favourite and has 3 seasons.

@zamora_spin, I toured a daycare last week but I had planned on going in March. She said just come in. There seems to be no wait list here, which I didn't expect as Toronto has ridiculous waitlists. 21 days! I would go insane. They said up to 2 weeks for me and I am ready for it to be back now, which is impossible. Hopefully by early next week. I'm ready to know! I am doing my MBA.

@dogmomma096, my birthday is also in October! When is yours?

@Amdogger82, outer space themed sounds so nice! I also considered a travel theme since clearly we travel a lot. Haha.

@aecm, I can't wait to do our announcement so it is out there. Must be so freeing!

@oklahomak, thank you! I think I will go Friday to get the blood work done. I just hate it because my veins are never visible and are so deep that they 'take a chance.'  :'( Yay for a Valentine's day scan. That's so fun!

    *Live, Love, Laugh, Learn*

  • Thanks ladies!!
@zamora_spin and @Amdogger82    Oh my gosh LOVE The Crown!!! SO well done!! And my sister started me on Stranger things today. I didn't expect to cry since it's a creepy show! Haha! And I saw an Ad for you. I'll have to check it out!

@AKuzReve I'll have to check if Cable girls is available! I have heard of it!
  • @chillycanadian, it’s a Netflix original so definitely available. ALso Dark is good but German. This is Us is only available on Canadian Netflix. I have more but I have to think about it haha. You may get randomly tagged as I remember ones.

    *Live, Love, Laugh, Learn*

  • @AKuzReve Having to be stuck multiple times is the worst! Maybe pregnancy veins will help? I feel like I've noticed mine are a bit darker.
  • @oklahomak, not darker yet but hopefully as we progress since there are so many blood draws.

    @chillycanadian, Jane the virgin!

    *Live, Love, Laugh, Learn*

  • @AKuzReve I think Jane the Virgin is one of my all time favorite shows! I love everything about it.
  • @chillycanadian @Amdogger82 @AKuzReve If you all like the Crown, I would also recommend Peaky Blinders!
  • @AKuzReve Jane the Virgin is such a good show!!! It's one DH and I started together. For some reason he thinks I cheated and watched ahead without him, and is hesitant to watch the newest season with me. Maybe I'll actually just have to watch it without him since he thinks I already did 😂

@oklahomak I dont think I've heard of Peaky Blinders! I'll have to check for it! Thank you!
  • @chillycanadian It's set in the early 1920s in England and it's about a gang family and their rise to power, clashes with the Irish Republican Army and the war. It's definitely worth a watch if you don't get queasy easily :)
  • I had my 12 week check-up today. The doctor decided to do another US because my first and my LMP gave EDDs that were 5 days apart. Even though this one was closer to my LMP they decided to keep it at the later date. I'm not complaining because it means I get to stay in this lovely group, and I have more time before they start trying to push me to induce.
Baby is actually starting to look like a baby, and it was so nice to see him/her(?) moving around, and hear the heartbeat.
On the topic of EDD, I really want this baby to show up on the 19th. #1 was born on the 16th in 2016, and #2 was born on the 17th in 2017, so I want to keep the pattern. But I know that's silly, the baby will show up when (s)he is ready.
  • mrosek91 I totally get you with the birth date patterns! In my family there are a TON of people born on the first of the month, and I was so bummed when DD was in the middle of the month (but also the 17th in 2017!). These two will probably be a scheduled c-section and I keep looking at the calendar trying to figure out what’s day I like best LOL! It’s going to feel sooo weird “picking” their birthday.
    BabyFetus Ticker
  • @mrosek91 oh my gosh! That would be so cool if it works out like that! I love patterns! Haha
  • @mrosek91, I love that pattern of dates! It’s so cool.

    *Live, Love, Laugh, Learn*

  • @aecm my siblings and I are all c-sections, my sister was an emergency, but the rest of us were scheduled. She showed up on Monday by coincidence, and my mom scheduled the rest of us all for Mondays.
My brother has the same birthday as my dad, and it took us years to realize that wasn't a coincidence. But both my parents say they picked it because it was the Monday closest to my Mom's due date, and not because of that.
