Re: Randoms- week of 2/4

  • @c.gardner37 I love your optimism and am trying to remind myself that everything happens for a reason.

On the sick kid note, we now have projectile vomit on top of a fever and I fear I won’t be super productive today work wise.

I just peed on my last cheapie yesterday (bringing my total count of things peed on to 2 FRER, 2 Digital, 1 ept, 2 non-digital blue choice and 15 cheapies. Most of those were given to me by a friend is who done ttc, so the struggle to not buy anything else is real.

This is probably what’s motivating me to slow down. I have a handful left (I took like 4 the first day because I couldn’t believe it) and I feel like it doesn’t make sense to buy more tests when I already know I’m pregnant. But like @cdnrunning said, there is something reassuring about turning another stick positive, so... 🤷🏾‍♀️

  • @manillabar Nope!! I just keep peeing on them. It's makes me feel better at least temporarily :)
    This, all the way! 😁
  • Holy expenses, batman.

DD1 will start 1st grade in August. In Germany that means making a huge deal out of which backpack to buy. Major investment and super high-tech with hip and chest buckles and made of recycled soda bottles...and a cost of upwards of 200€. Ack.

So obviously this needs to be thought of and considered starting NOW. The first DC moms have already banded together to go to "backpack shows" and peruse the offers. Definitely feeling the peer pressure.

  • @grapeskittles4lyfe OMG!! That's crazy. I really can't judge though because I own two camelbacks and two backpacks for hiking and none of them were cheap :)
  • Backpack shows!?

  • @c.gardner37 Thanks for checking in on us! My husband stayed home with DS yesterday but we are attempting daycare today. Fever is down and he’s back to his normal self. TGIF!!!

I have a few cheapie tests left over that I am holding back from peeing on. I want to see more positive lines but I haven’t gotten my period so I’m trying to just relax and trust my body.
  • @geminigirl16 same. I have a handful of cheapies that I probably should just use up and pee on but I'm reeeeally trying to trust my body as well! Plus the nausea is a pretty constant reminder for me ;)
  • @SLou24 Ugh, I’m sorry. The nausea is the worst! It thankfully hasn’t hit me yet but am sure it is coming soon based on prior experience.
  • @grapeskittles4lyfe do they keep these backpacks til college?!? This seems super intense and dramatic. I can’t wait to see what you choose 🙂
@geminigirl16 glad he’s on the mend!
@SLou24 same! All nausea all day 🤢
  • anyone else trying to keep themselves from peeing on all the sticks?
I'm not even trying. I have a box that expires in May so I might as well use them for the fun of seeing a line. :-)

  • @manillabar kind of. I pee on one once a week. It’s basically pointless now since my test line of suuupppeeerrr dark and I know it’s not going to get any darker. Also, because someone one here mentioned it, I also peed on a few OPKs because why not??

I have a friend who is starting to TTC so I will probably give the rest of mine to her once I tell her I’m pregnant. I just need to stop all together at this point.
  • @grapeskittles4lyfe That is wild, who knew bookbags had gotten so complicated?? For the record though, that one you shared is suuuuuuper cute so I kind of get it. 😁
  • I've done one every day this week!
  • @stephanie123456 the first book fair, I was excited. Then I dropped over $50 on books. Oops.

Now, I don’t find any books the boys would like or that I don’t already have 🤷🏼‍♀️

  • I caught my daughter’s cold... I forgot how little we could take for colds during pregnancy 😫. Here’s hoping the netipot and Benadryl do the trick!

  • @manillabar Oh no, hope you’re feeling better soon
  • @stephanie123456 I LOVE it! My DD4 brought one home this week and I want it all!
@manillabar I hope you feel better quickly! My ob has told me to gargle warm salt water 🤢 If you can stomach it, it may help kill the cooties. Also, even when not pregnant, I like to do hot water with lemon, apple cider vinegar and honey. It seems to knock colds out of my system.
  • @manillabar I'm in the same boat! We keep passing the cold around our house. I'm so stuffy! My head hurts. Benadryl, Tylenol and saline spray. It sucks. I'm just worried it's going to turn into a sinus infection because a lot of times my colds do.
  • Thanks @melanier26 and @c.gardner37! I’m still stuffy but feel less like crap today so FX it passes quickly. @aprosch sorry you are sick too! I do t know if your kid is in school/daycare but this is the first year my daughter is in daycare and we are always sick! Damn kid germs lol. Hope you feel better soon!!

I hope you feel better soon! My son’s first year in daycare we were sick all the time! We
even caught gastro twice in three months! It was horrible!

We are on year two and it is much more smooth sailing and he’s been sick once only since September.

This was our experience as well. First year in daycare- sick all the time, including two cases of HFM. Next year? Oh, there was something going around?

Eh, you may be surprised. DS1 didn’t get his first cold until 11 months 🤷🏼‍♀️ That required daycare and both DH and I switching jobs.

DS2 never caught anything DS1 brought home; he just brought home his own germs

  • @manillabar yes, my daughter is in daycare. We've passed around this cold twice now. lol. She never gets it as bad as me and my husband do though. So strange. Luckily, she doesn't bring home too many germs. before january, none of us had been sick in quite a while
  • Random gtky type question:
Where is everyone from? (being as secific or vague as you feel comfortable)

I'm from Northern VA, land of the wild temperature swings all winter. One day, 70 degrees. That night? Hello ice storm.
