Inconclusive NIPT?

Hi all, 

I got my NIPT test last week and was told I would hear genetic results AND gender in 5 to 10 business days. I got a call from the doctors office today saying to schedule a phone conference with my doctor, but it's not until tomorrow so now I'm stressed! Anyone else hear or go through this?

    Hi. Normally we discourage one off threads like this, however, I think this is a sensitive topic so want to respond. Did they give you an actual reason for the conference? Did they say the results are inconclusive? Remember this is not a diagnostic test and not conclusive. Don’t freak out until you have a reason to. Talk to your doctor and go from there.

    I agree with what olivemamma said. Try not to let your worries take over until you talk to the doctor. I'll be thinking of you -- keep us posted on what happens!

    Inconclusive does NOT mean anything is wrong! It means there was not enough DNA for them to test. Which test you used, how far along you were, your weight, and the number of tubes of blood are the main factors for an inconclusive result. Have you called your OB yet?

    I talked to a genetic counselor - retaking the test today or tomorrow since I'm 10 days farther along. Thank you!!!
