Any appointments? Questions? Shots! Biweekly OB. Gotta schedule a hospital tour too.
Rants/Raves? I’m not sure whether this falls under rant or rave: DH wants to buy another house and renovate that one then this one...starting this month. Aka moving multiple times this year. Like, move in March. I just told him that he can go ahead and budget in a crew to do the lifting because we can assume I won’t be able to help, at all. I hate moving, I like this house, but I’m tired of hearing him worry about lead paint and I like the ideas of more rental income next year, kitchens with actual storage space, and being able to leave things out behind doors closed to DD and LO. We can renovate this house to not have stupid kitchen cabinetry (seriously...the voids behind the pantry cabinets boggle my mind - why not just make the pantry full depth???) I think all this has about a 60% chance of happening.
How are you feeling? Better than last night (see symptoms thread).
What have you done to prep for baby this week? Gotten DH to start childbirth classes, got DD a FF convertible car seat on clearance at Target. Not my preferred seat but it was the right price ($75). LO will go straight into the infant seat that DD currently uses. If we end up with a better convertible seat (prob Diono Radian because we’ll end up with three across at some point) that will go in my car and this will go in DH’s car.
GTKY: STMs: what do you love about being a mom? FTMs: what do you look forward to about motherhood?
I love watching DD acquire skills, and build connections in her brain.
Rave: No diabetes, amnemia, high blood pressure, protein buildup, or other concerns/complications which surprises me. I'm enjoying that my baby seems calm and laid back. I can't wait to meet her but I hope she stays in for another couple months. Working and preparing for her keeps me busy while the anticipation builds. DH was able to listen to her heartbeat by having his head over my stomach this weekend (he doesn't put weight on us). We enjoy watching her move before we go to sleep. In the mornings I rub her body before I get up if I can feel her. I'm not sure if she likes or dislikes it, but I enjoy the interaction.
How are you feeling? Pelvic pain is increasing the further along we get. Feels most tolerable after a few minutes of activity. I'm still going on walks and each time feels like a victory.
What have you done to prep for baby this week? I bought a water mat toy (Anyone use one of these? I feel concerned for leaks.), milk bags, nipple pads, Milkies Milk Saver, and always looking for good prices on newborn prefolds/diapers.
GTKY: FTMs: what do you look forward to about motherhood? Caring for and raising my own child, watching her grow and feeling proud of her, teaching her, going on dates with her, acting silly with her, getting the perks of having a child at museums and zoos (like being able to pet the stingrays at the children's touch pool at our local aquarium too), and just in general being a mom.
I put a cheap backpack on our baby registry that we plan to use as a diaper bag and it still hasn't been marked Purchased. I really thought that the price would encourage guests to buy it. I guess not. It's been one of the first things I was hoping would be sent to us because I want to pack it for the hospital. Yeah, I could buy it myself, but I'm waiting until after the shower. I wonder if we had a cute one on there for a higher price would it have been purchased?
@lyse01 That does sound stressful but like it could make a big difference for your family financially in the long run.
Due date: 4/1
Any appointments? Appointment tomorrow but just a regular check up.
Questions?
Rants/Raves?
Not a rant but maybe more of a sulk. My cardiologist appointment last week had less than optimal news for me. In 2017 I had two strokes. When looking for the cause they discovered I had a rare congenital heart defect. Luckily they were able to repair it with a catheter procedure. It turns out that there is more blood flowing through the plug than before. This is hopefully because there is just more blood going through my body right now. But it makes me nervous because the more blood going to the wrong places the higher my chance of another stroke is. My doctor isn’t overly worried so I’m just going to count down the days and keep my fingers crossed.
My other mini rant is about my screen name changing. Grr
How are you feeling? More tired and sore.
What have you done to prep for baby this week? Working on a crafting project. We got a hand-me-down crib.
GTKY: STMs: what do you love about being a mom? FTMs: what do you look forward to about motherhood?
I love getting to rediscover the world again or at least watching my son discover the world.
@sozinca yeah, it could make a difference financially. And as I tell DH all the time in the context of family planning, there’s never a good time for stressful life events like babies and weddings - you just have to go for it at a less bad time and make it work - so I can’t really fault him for putting a move/property purchase/renovations into that category.
That cardio result sounds a little scary but also like monitoring and coordination with the OB could minimize risk. Best of luck.
@mighty_montgomery thanks for the reminder to update the registry again. I go into gift shopping with a set amount in mind, and look for something that price or a few items that make sense together that add up to that price. I might see the backpack and not realize it’s meant to be a diaper bag - can you add a comment or something to point that out?
My screen name was saucentoss. I keep trying to figure out if there is a way to change your screen name on the website. I had changed it in the app a month ago, before I started posting. But it kept using my old screen name and I forgot I'd left it changed. I tried changing it back in the app but of course, once again, it's not taking. If you click on my profile you can see that it doesn't match the name on the messages.
Wait, no it changed back!! Ok I will never touch it again.
I’m really enjoying coaching basketball this season; not such a fan of how much more it wipes me out while pregnant!
LO has been giving me some big moves this week so that’s been fun to watch and feel. She occasionally reacts to a touch as well, which I love!
Also, I’ve been paying all the bills while DH has been ambitiously throwing money in our minivan savings account - we will be bringing this little lady home in a new van for sure!
How are you feeling?
Fat and tired, mostly. I’m excited to go on mat leave a few weeks before Baby arrives so I can rest up and get a couple of projects done without having to deal with teenagers all day!
What have you done to prep for baby this week?
I can’t stop buying clearance baby clothes! Joe Fresh FTW!
GTKY: FTMs: what do you look forward to about motherhood?
Teaching her to laugh, play and read... and seeing DH wind himself around this little girl’s finger!
Any appointments? Questions? Not this week. My appointments are now every 2 weeks, though.
Rants/Raves? Rant: It's been a while since I posted regularly because it started stressing me out to try and give all the updates. In the last 2 months, DH and I gave notice to our jobs, packed up our home, moved across the country, are now living with DH's mom and stepdad in the basement, and will be closing on a house in mid-Feb. We moved to be near family. So tired of feeling like we were staying somewhere that didn't feel like home, and the imminent arrival of LO made that feel stronger. For 1 month of that time, DH and I were separated... Me in the new state, DH in the old state packing and driving cross country like a champ. And now I have the mother of all colds -- going on a week now of hacking cough and near isolation. Rave: Fortunately both of our jobs are allowing us to work remotely for the foreseeable future which keeps health insurance all ok and income steady. Also, DH and I have been reunited and it makes me so happy to have him here with me.
How are you feeling? Like poo. But I really shouldn't complain. I have no baby complications, and baby growth and development are all on track! Every once in a while I cough so hard from my cold that I pee just a little and feel a combination of shame that my pelvic floor isn't stronger, irritation at myself for not doing my Kegels more regularly, and feeling sorry for myself...
What have you done to prep for baby this week? Ummm. Got homeowner's insurance quotes so we can close on the house before baby is born. Does that count?
GTKY: FTMs: what do you look forward to about motherhood? I can't wait to see how our LO puts together what we give and teach and make thoughts and ideas all by herself/himself!
@suchagoodone I'm loving the big baby moves, too! Baby must be hearing your pro b-ball coaching from the inside and practicing
@saucentoss yikes! Medical stuff is scary. Best you can do is take your cues from your healthcare providers.
@lyse01 yay moving while 7 months pregnant... I'll take any pointers from you. My friend moved 10 days after her son's birth. She said that was bad... And thinks it's probably worse than moving while pregnant. She also told me not to lift a finger during the move. She had complications from trying to lift boxes when she wasn't supposed to.
Any appointments? Questions? Had my 31 week check up yesterday, doing group pre-natals at the birth center where we are hoping to have the baby, with others who will be giving birth the same month. It's nice because it's a longer visit, the midwives cover all kinds of info in detail, and its been a good way to meet other families, but then the individual part is just a few mins to check baby and vitals.
Rants/Raves? Rave: Was thrilled that the baby has moved from transverse position into a nice head down position... Also relieved my blood pressure etc looked good. I had a scare a couple of weeks ago where it had jumped up. But I think it was an aberration, and the midwife ran a blood test to check my kidney and liver function just in case, all of which was just worrying. So this week was a relief. Also, I went to my first pre-natal yoga class in my neighborhood on Monday, and it was amazing. But I now feel v sore.
How are you feeling? I feel good (aside from muscle aches from so many squats).
What have you done to prep for baby this week? My husband and I finally made our baby registry and scheduled the baby shower for late Feb with my friend. It's prob later than I would like, but was hard to get things set up with the holidays etc. Grateful to my friends who are throwing it.
GTKY: STMs: what do you love about being a mom? FTMs: what do you look forward to about motherhood?
I love all the snuggles. My son is now 14 and snuggles less often than he used to... but still loves it
Welcome back @loveanddatadriven! The pendulum has swung back to “there are better, faster ways to make money that don’t include the stress of renovating a 4-5 bedroom house and a 7-bedroom multi-family house so maybe not here but maybe we should move anyway” so my only advice is to plan carefully, packing a few “essentials” boxes that have one pot, two plates/sets of utensils, a handful of outfits, and toiletries, and not stress out about getting things unpacked too quickly. Also, hiring help - I’ve had success getting crews off the u-haul website.
@mighty_montgomery thanks for the reminder to update the registry again. I might see the backpack and not realize it’s meant to be a diaper bag - can you add a comment or something to point that out?
DH and I took your suggestion and immediately added a Comment that we plan on using the backpack as a diaper bag. It's now marked Purchased.
