  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 9/17  6 weeks + 6 days

Interesting baby fact: The umbilical cord is now formed!

Upcoming Appointments: February 6th! Finally getting close to seeing a picture & hearing my nugget's heartbeat.

How are you feeling? I am feeling pretty good. I am a little queasy here & there. Overall, things are going really well.

Rants/Raves: My legs are not nearly as swollen as last time around. I am not sleeping well. Tips for that are greatly appreciated....

Questions: Anyone else feel like their belly is going to pop when they yawn?

GTKY: At school I play the Piano Guys for the students during independent work on guided reading rotations. Other than that, we play Amazon Music. We are country music fans over here. Amazon's Florida Georgia Line station is our favorite. We are actually a little bummed, because the country megaticket concert is awesome this summer & we are not going to be able to see two of our favorites. FGL is coming end of August & Luke Bryan 9/14. I will be so close to popping at that time, so we don't want to get advance tickets. I think having our little baby is a good trade off though :)
  • @lillywonderland ooh, new kitchen appliances are always exciting! Hope that pesky cold goes away soon.
@omg1108 I'm also having trouble sleeping. Once I fall asleep, I'm out like a light; but getting there has been difficult. I've started to drink a small glass of warm milk with a bit of cinnamon right before bed. I also try to stay off of my phone/laptop for at least an hour before I'm trying to sleep. Re. your Pandora station, I love the Piano Guys! I also play them for my students.

    EDD / Weeks+Days: 9-22 / 6+1

Interesting baby fact: baby's circulatory system is becoming more advanced

Upcoming Appointments: Feb 5 to make sure everything is progressing after my scare last Thursday
How are you feeling? My boobs hurt so badddddddd! No nausea yet, but I thought I might have been feeling a little queasy in the car today.

Rants/Raves: It took my 2h45min to get to work this morning (normally it's 50 min)!!! None of the highways were plowed and I left 40 minutes earlier than usual. Parents are blowing up the district's phones complaining about not having the day off even though a bunch of other schools in the area are closed.

    Questions: not really

GTKY: What Pandora station is your default? I don't use Pandora much anymore (DH got Spotify for us), but I liked 90s grunge, metal, and showtunes. I have an eclectic taste.
  • Oh shoot, I just made this because I didn't see one labeled 1/28. Can you add this week's "w/o" to this title and I'll turn mine into something else? I'm new to group 3 bc new due date, this is a bad first impression! =( (luckily, hi, I know some of you.)
  • Just kidding
    welcome to group 3!
  • @kagesstarshroom Whoops. Sorry! I’m claiming pregnancy brain on that one! 😉

@omg1108 I have been known to rock out to some country! But I’m not a huge fan of some of the newer country - give me some
good old Brad Paisley or Kenny Chesney!!

@themadcamel Once it took me 2 hrs to get to work and I worked 15 mins away. 😂 it was terrible (I think the freeway had a mudslide and only 1 lane was open so the surface streets were clogged with freeway traffic), and a little hilarious. I’m pretty sure I just sent my boss this gif:

  • @lillywonderland Brad Paisley is also on the Megaticket! What about Dierks?

@themadcamel Oh the BooBies! I grope myself throughout the day to make sure they are still sore. Mine were killing me yesterday while I Netflix-binged & did school work (braless). I need to support these puppies.

@kagesstarshroom Oh YaY! You are in our due-date bracket!
  • @omg1108 Yes, I love me some Dierks, too! I haven’t seen him live though. He would be great!! I like his new song (that man not actually be new) - Burning Man. Also, lol@the boobies comment!!
  • @lillywonderland, my first ultrasound is next Friday ... I'll be counting down with you.

@omg1108, @themadcamel, I'm struggling with sleep too.  Although sounds like I'm having the opposite sleep issue as you, themadcamel - I fall asleep so easily (pretty much any time I lay down), but I wake up and am up for several hours in the middle of the night.  I'm typically a night person, so it's kind of the opposite of usual for me.

I'm a little jealous (haha) of the sore boobs.  That was pretty much my only clear symptom in past pregnancies, and this time - nothing.  I was still breastfeeding when I got pregnant, so I'm assuming that might be playing a role (plus, they say every pregnancy is different).

    @kagesstarshroom, welcome to Group 3!

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days
    : 9/22 / 6w1d

Interesting baby fact:  I've got nothing today - but enjoying all yours!

    Upcoming Appointments:  Ultrasound on 2/8

How are you feeling?  So tired - I don't remember being this tired in past pregnancies.  No nausea (which I've never had in pregnancy), but I feel gross/off (and burpy/gassy).

Rants/Raves:  I am going back to work tomorrow after almost a week and a half off.  It was an impulsive break - work had been crazy for a few months and slowed way down, so I took advantage.  Life without work has been pretty exhausting, so I'm nervous about going back!

    Questions:  Nope.

GTKY: What Pandora station is your default?  Haha, at the moment it's "The Wheels on the Bus."  But before that I was on a Band of Horses station kick.
  • @eller-2 It's a revelation to me how symptoms that one would think are negative (sore boobs hurt, for example,) are something that we WANT bc of the reassurance! Also, I find that work life actually helps time go by more quickly and I get more done when there's pre-conceived structure to my day--I hope you find that when you go back to work!

@themadcamel I am so sorry for your un-snow day! The worst! Where I live, bc there's no infastructure to deal w/ any sort of winter weather, one thin layer of ice on the road/anything resembling "snow" means = no school. Being from the NE originally, this is vaguely hilarious. But I'm sure not so much to you. I hope you made it safely every which way & everyone in yr district did too!

@lillywonderland Hope you beat that cold ASAP! & Pregnancy Brain is for real.

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 9/16 / 7w0d (hiiii! they changed my due date at my follow-up u/s last week after my not-great HGC results--everything was on track & looked great at the follow-up! but the original due date was a few days behind. so I'm group 3 now!)

Interesting baby fact: "Baby’s generating about one hundred new brain cells each minute!"

Upcoming Appointments: 2/4 (so 1 week from today) to jump out of the "we're keeping careful track" & into the "normal appt sched," where I go in Week 8, 12, etc.

How are you feeling? Today: good! My boobs hurt, but the past two days were nausea city. I am both paranoid bc no such nausea today makes me worry something could be wrong but then I'm also relieved bc (fun fact) I haven't thrown up in 20+ years & I'm not looking fwd to when my nausea leads me down that path.

Rants/Raves:  RANT: I neeeeed to finish chapter 2 of my dissertation, but I haven't touched it yet. I suppose I am entering my "prime" part of the day for work, but I wish I'd started earlier. I prioritized yoga and showering and laundry. My goal is to get it to my diss director before the end of the day! RAVE: We went out on the boat yesterday to this beautiful lake near our house. Pic of some of that beauty in spoiler.

Questions: I just got a bill in the mail from my ob for my future delivery--I hadn't really even thought about the delivery aspect of this yet, I'm moreso worried about making it through first trimester. It splits the bill into 7 months, starting this month. Am I just... a not-with-it FTM who should have considered her delivery options before calling to tell my obgyn I was KU? Like, I don't even know what delivery options they offer--the booklet they gave me is like "you have options!" but then super vague. Do I? Or am I going to have to lay on my back and/or come in for a "scheduled" c-section, both of which are "normal" in American hospitals, but not actually what I thought my birth experience would be like considering how much I have read about how neither of them are 'natural' (tho I have respect for the technology of c-sections when they are necessary! & I 100% don't judge anyone for the decisions they have made/will make in the future!) Is this really a question? I guess it is ---> Thoughts?

GTKY: What Pandora station is your default? I don't really Pandora anymore! I feel like when I did, in like 2010, it was Tom Waits and the Avett Bros. These days, I Spotify when I'm working (I have a "Work & Chill" mix that's mostly movie scores & other type chill/wordless/in other languages tunes) & I listen to NPR in the kitchen.

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 9/20, 6w3d

Interesting baby fact: baby is the size of a chocolate chip, yum

    Upcoming Appointments: 2/28

How are you feeling? Bloated, tired, boobs hurt.

Rants/Raves: got off a cruise, which was fun, yay. But now sitting in the Miami airport with a flight to Chicago that keeps getting delayed because of the stupid ass snow. I tried to get my travel companions to change our flight to yesterday but two of them didn’t want to because they are off work right now for 3 months and have nothing to do. Yeah, well I’m here without my husband and son and have to work tomorrow. I probably will not get to work tomorrow but I still want to get home. Fuck this and fuck them. I am so annoyed. One person in particular acts like she’s the only one that matters on this trip.

    Questions: nah

GTKY: What Pandora station is your default? Classic or 70s rock

  • @lillywonderland we desperately need a new microwave so I am very jealous of you.

@themadcamel boob pain is so real. I already had to switch to maternity bras for more support. They swelled up so much. No regrets.

@kagesstarshroom so happy to see you in group 3! I'm honestly shocked that you got a bill this early for delivery. It seems a bit presumptuous. Can you call your insurance company and see what they recommend or have seen? I'm a FTM, too, but I've honestly never heard of such a thing. In terms of birth plans, you very much should take the time and weigh your options. I would hate to see you forced into a birth plan that you aren't ready to commit to this early on!

@calliah I'm sorry, traveling in bad weather is no fun. We were stuck in hours of traffic after we got back from Ireland because of a freak November snowstorm that no one was prepared for. It's definitely not how you want to come home from vacation.

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 6wk +1

Interesting baby fact: Bones cells are developing!

Upcoming Appointments: Today and Tomorrow. Today I saw my PCP and she went over my blood work. Everything went great, definitely KU. My vitamins all look great. Tomorrow I go to see my midwife for the first time. I'll let everyone know in an update how that goes.

How are you feeling? So tired. I could honestly sleep at any moment during the day (and often do.) MH is getting a bit annoyed by that but he can bite me. Little nauseous but not pukey. I don't know from one minute to the next what I want to eat. Headaches/migraines have subsided, thankfully. Fingers crossed that is done and over.

Rants/Raves: Okay, big rant. I got my flu shot right before I found out I was KU. I immediately had discomfort in my arm but I figured it was just normal vaccine pain. Well, it has gotten progressively more painful over the past few weeks to the point where it hurts to raise my arm, lift, or push anything of any weight. I'm also having trouble sleeping on it. I went to my PCP today and she thinks when the nurse did the injection she managed to go behind my deltoid and into my shoulder bursa. So now I might have a shoulder injury because of a stupid flu shot. I can't take anything for it, either, so I am kind of miserable. I have to go and have an U/S on it this Thursday because she doesn't want me getting an x-ray while pregnant. Rave: MH is starting to look at baby clothes at target and say things like "can we dress our kid in this?" So I think he's feeling like it's a bit more real now.

Questions: Anyone have any safe pain management techniques re: shoulder pain above? I have been taking Tylenol (useless) and using a heating pad.

GTKY: What Pandora station is your default? 90s jams. I'm big into all things 90s music but especially 90s alt rock.
  • @eller-2 good for you for taking some time off of work. Mental health breaks are awesome!
@kagesstarshroom the problem with the weather in northern IL is that you never know what's going to happen. I never change out my closet seasonally because it's best to have all kinds of clothes available at all times lol. You're in New Orleans, right? DH and I have been trying to get out there for a couple years. We had a trip all ready to go at one point but then there was a hurricane warning. Re your question, I don't have an answer; but it sounds like information overload! Hope you get some clarity soon.
@calliah was Chicago your final destination? If so, hooray! It's nice to see another Chicagoan on the board.
@cmdesigner hey, friend! Glad everything is looking good for you. Interested to hear about how it goes with your midwife. I've opted to just go the ob route, but I'm curious about people's experiences with midwives/doulas. Sorry to hear about your shoulder. I dislocated and injured my shoulder a few years ago (I fell out of our very tall bed  ). I went to PT and we did exercises similar to these to strengthen the muscles and help manage the pain. Heat and ice also helped. I used this hot/cold gel pack.

  • @cmdesigner Highly recommend doing this to get your new microwave:

J/K!!! I use the crap out of my microwave so it was just prolly past it’s time. It’s currently sitting in the foyer-part of the living room waiting for DH to get home so we can install it. I would do it myself, but it’s like super heavy and I need a burly man. 😊 It’s also super cute when the men in our lives start getting excited about the teeny tiny baby clothes!!

@eller-2 No MS here (yet?), but I’m not really expecting it either since I had none with DS. But boy, yeah count me on the tired train. And I don’t remember feeling like my tummy is going to burst after I eat a NORMAL SIZED meal. Yay for appt buddies!!

@kagesstarshroom For this and last pregnancy they wanted 1/2 of the delivery/pregnancy payment due by like the 6th or 7th month. It seems ridiculous they want partial now for yours. You don’t have like any normal office appointments for the first two tris. They’re all like a month apart. I would say if you’re 100% planning on birthing in a hospital stay with your OB and pay whatever they want (but maybe ask if you can do other timed payments?). If you’re more open to a birthing center then research your options now and go from there. Also, do you have any pre-existing conditions that would place you in the high risk category? That should also factor into your decision.

@calliah Did you make it home in time for work the next day?? I hope the rest of your trip was uneventful!
  • @themadcamel no, I actually live in Michigan, about 90 minutes from Chicago. One of my favorite places to visit though!

@lillywonderland I didn’t make it home until 11 so I talked to my boss and she was ok with me missing today. It was a very long day!
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 9-19-19 confirmed by the OB yesterday, putting me at 6w 5d

    Interesting baby fact:

Upcoming Appointments: Just had our first yesterdays <3 Got to see the little Searhorse blob and its flickering heartbeat of 125. Couldn't hear it quite yet though. Next appointment is in one month.

How are you feeling? Nauseous and tired

Rants/Raves: Seeing babe is always a good feeling!

    Questions: Hmm...nope

GTKY: What Pandora station is your default? I dont have a default. I actually hadn't listened to Pandora since Christmas until this past weekend when I decided to throw it back with some Taking Back Sunday/ Brand New

  • @lillywonderland Thanks for sharing info on how payments worked for you. MH did not love the "tone" of the "bill" so much himself. He was like, "they could have presented this information in a better way." If I remember correctly (it's at home), they wanted payment in full by a certain month & they broke it down into these easier payment plans for me--but they didn't make it seem like not paying something now was an option. I guess I just never imagined I'd have a "normal" hospital birth, but I also don't think we can afford (financially, and risk wise) any other options that I probably should have been researching, TBF, when we were TTGP. I was so focused on the TTC part lol the reality of labor birth (then & now) seems so far. I guess, also, I'm surprised they want anything before the first trimester is over? I feel like I am working through these small steps & they're looking into the future, which seems sooooo far to me Important Inquiry: IS THE MICROWAVE INSTALLED YET?

@nda_roxybabe DEJA ENTENDU is one of those albums I like to put on when I'm driving alone in the car & just rock out to.

@calliah super glad you got to stay home today!

@themadcamel samesies with not changing out clothes! except in southern lousiaiana, the bulk of those are summery/springy clothes haha. i have a small amount of stuff i switch over, but I'm prepared currently for a 30 degree day (tonight boooo) and a 70-80 degree day (later this week! yayy!)

  • @kagesstarshroom Yes! Such a good album. My heart about burst when I saw my 1.5 year old nodding his head and moving his hands along with the music.

  • Hi all! I had my appointment today with my midwife. Everything is great. In case anyone is wondering, this is how the appointment went.

I went over my medical history with a nurse. She took my weight, BP, and I peed in a cup. After that, they had me change. My midwife did a pelvic exam and palpated my uterus. She said it is "definitely a pregnant uterus."  :D
She and I went over my medical history in more depth. I had bariatric surgery 4 years ago and hip surgery in August, so we paid special attention to that. I have to do an early glucose test but because of my bariatric history I have to do finger pricking for a week. She said she was going to run my A1C levels again just to see how I'm doing but we may be able to wait a bit to do it based on that. The only other thing she mentioned was that she wants me to see a maternal fetal specialist because of my medical history. She just wants to make sure that everything is going well and that my slight malnutrition doesn't affect anything long term. But I probably won't have that appointment until 20 weeks.

Other than all that, I have to go for my U/S next week. She wanted to wait until I get closer to 8 weeks. I have my appointment set for 2/6 to do that.

Overall, I felt good at the visit and she was quite lovely!

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: Sept 17/ 7 weeks

Interesting baby fact: uterus is the size of a grapefruit

    Upcoming Appointments:

midwife on 2/4, OB on 2/7

How are you feeling? Nausea hit me hard three days ago. Now I can only eat plain pasta or bread. I was eating so much healthy fruits and veggies before, now just bland, bland, bland. I’m in the same boat as @kagesstarshroom, in that I haven’t thrown up in 15 years. That almost changed the other night when I tried to eat green chili through my nausea. Let’s just say, my body rejected it minutes later, almost out both ends.

I’m so tired, i can barely get off the couch. A nap a day is mandatory.

Rants/Raves: I was on the plane last week, and the woman across from me was coughing up a storm, and barely covering her mouth. The next day, I felt sick, and got a fever. Urgent care tested for flu, said it was negative. 3 days of a fever that wouldn’t break with Tylenol, my husband was putting ice packs on my neck and wrists. A high of 103.3 brought me back to another Dr before going to the ER. Dr #2 tested me and got positive for Flu. Gave me Tamiflu, and my fever broke that night. Was honestly the scariest few days of my life, and I’m afraid either the fever or the medicine has had an impact on babies development.

    Questions: none at this point

GTKY: What Pandora station is your default?

I don’t listen to Pandora because they are the worst at paying artists. Some of my favorite bands are Carpark North, Susanne Sundfør, and Lisa Gerrard
  • Big bout of nausea for me tonight. I’ve never been so happy to vomit 😂😭. @kagesstarshroom @wilderlace I’m the opposite of you guys for sure. I’ll throw up any chance I get. I figure better out than in lol.

Edited to say I changed my username and it's still saying "Knottie____" -- working on it.

@wilderlace -- Oh gosh, scary! Hope you're feeling better now!

@themadcamel -- I'm the same way with the nausea (and it's been hitting me hard)-- it's like, physically impossible for me to white-knuckle through-- if I'm feeling pukey, it's going to happen right now.

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days:  9/21, 6 wks +5 d

    Interesting baby fact:

Upcoming Appointments: 2/12 -- initial consultation with a home-birth midwifery clinic. I planned a home-birth with my son, but went into labor early, so my midwife recommended heading to the hospital. I'm open to either hospital or home (I had a wonderful hospital experience), but want to meet these midwives and talk about options with them.

How are you feeling? Nauseated and exhausted.

Rants/Raves: I'm having a seriously hard time getting anything done at work (can you tell?). I'm self-employed, so I just answer to myself... but it means that I'm getting down on myself for not being able to concentrate. I keep making up excuses in my head about finishing this or that project next week. Mlerg.

    Questions: Not at this point.

GTKY: What Pandora station is your default? Lately it's been Hipster Cocktail Party-- and because of all my up votes it's gone really far into the Soul direction-- lots of Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin right now.
  • @windyme I'd forgotton how impossible it is to concentrate in the first tri. Ughhhh.

  • @windyme Glad yr username switched over! When I changed mine, if I remember correctly, it took a little while for me to see it, too. I kept like logging in & out. I'm not exactly self-employed, but as a grad student, I'm on my own to finish my dissertation and keep up with my teaching, and I FEEL you on not being able to concentrate--or, like, even sit down to start half the time. ALSO, Sam Cooke's "Having a Party" was one of my jams last year.
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: EDD 9/20, 7W+0D

Interesting baby fact:Baby is 10,000 times bigger now than at conception a month ago

Upcoming Appointments: Next Weds is the 1st appointment, time is DRAGGING by!

How are you feeling? Pretty good! Although I don't really want to eat much, the only thing that sounds good to me like ever is cereal and OJ!

Rants/Raves: My almost 5 year old threw an EPIC tantrum last night at McDonalds when it was time to take his sister to dance. He hasn't had one like that in a couple of years, ughhhh

    Questions: No

GTKY: What Pandora station is your default?
  • @themadcamel that milk and cinnamon combo sounds so good!

@cmdesigner I'm so jealous that you have your U/S next week!

    @kagesstarshroom welcome to our group!

@eller-2 I love Band of Horses too!

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: Sept 17 / 7+4

Interesting baby fact: Tiny fingers and toes are forming!

Upcoming Appointments: first appointment is still 3 weeks away, which feels like forever!

How are you feeling? Pretty good...maybe too good? I get random waves of nausea that annoy me, and nothing seems appetizing. I'm freezing all the time, and my boobs are too big for my bras, but I feel too nervous to buy any maternity stuff before I get to hear that heartbeat, so I'm living my best life in sports bras for now.

Rants/Raves: We're finally out of those two weeks of -50 temps!!

GTKY: What Pandora station is your default? I don't think we have Pandora in Canada.
  • Hey! New to this check-in group! I have been super quiet here in general. I was waiting for my first u/s before jumping in.

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 9/21 7w 1D

Interesting baby fact: it’s in there, for sure

    Upcoming Appointments: 23 Feb

How are you feeling? Totally normal. I had very few first tri symptoms with my first, which actually caused a lot of anxiety. Mostly I feel tired, unmotivated and I can’t really concentrate much. General feeling of laziness.

Rants/Raves: I’m excited I got to see baby last week!

    Questions: not right now

GTKY: What Pandora station is your default?
usually Disney Hits during bath time.
