What is awesome right now? What are your grateful for? What is making your heart hopeful and happy? No sass, no complaints (there are other threads for those) .... just share what is wonderful right now ❤️
It it is mid-winter here in Edmonton, Canada so I need some warm thoughts to help me through these cold, dark days! Im happy right now because the boys I coach are lovely little gentlemen who are making big improvements each time they play. They just won their first 3 games of a tournament tonight! Go Scorpions! 🏀🦂
On the pregnancy side of things, I LOVE my OB. He has this ABSURD absentminded Irishman bedside manner most of the time, but he's a GREAT doctor and really listens. And his assistants are so sweet! They always ask about DD when she isn't at my appointments, and give me a lollipop to take home to her.
Otherwise, today I'm grateful that DH stopped on his way home from work and bought splurge coffee (Lavazza!). We've been trying to make due with Aldi stuff forever, but he pointed out last week that it actually tasted more like Postum than coffee, and there was just no going back from that realization.
OT: @suchagoodone My husband grew up in the greater Edmonton area! I did one winter there, and the length of it (much more than the extremity of the cold) nearly KILLED me. Props to you for staying sane!
We are on our babymoon. Nowhere fancy or tropical. So we’re enjoying 20* weather here. Lol. But it’s nuce to get away and have no responsibilities and see a new place. And I’m doing better separated from DD for the first time than I thought I would be. I mean she barely notices I’m gone but I figured that would be the case, at her age. We couldn’t afford a babymoon when pregnant with her, so this has been such a nice experience for us.
We took DD to check out her new preschool this morning. She loved it and didn't want to leave. I'm hoping this center is a better fit for her than her previous one.
I have girl scout cookies, managed to be suuuuuper productive this week at work, and we are having a family pizza and movie night tonight! Fridays are the best
What is awesome right now? My house is clean and I’ve been steadily making progress on all my pre-baby projects!
What are your grateful for? My husband, he has been amazing this pregnancy so much more understanding, helpful and supportive! And w/o being asked!!! He is so happy to be a daddy and can’t wait to meet our 2nd. I love his enthusiasm!
What is making your heart hopeful and happy? My son (who has been in speach thearapy) has really turned a corner with talking. He is saying so much more and he’s excited to be asking for what he wants ands getting it! I just love how his effective verbal communication is encouraging him to do it even more!!!!!
DH starts his new job on Monday so yesterday was his last day at work. His coworkers and boss not only threw him a small goodbye party, but gave him a card with a gift for baby. His boss also got us the baby carrier that DH had picked out and sent it to us as a surprise. Both things were just completely unexpected and it was really nice of them to celebrate not only DH, but also our baby.
And I had a very successful two day work event this week. It was the only big work event that I’ll be a part of this year (our busy event season is during the spring and summer when I’ll be on maternity leave) so it was nice that it ran smoothly and was a success.
This is a great thread! I definitely think a little positivity is needed. I'll admit this week has been challenging... (and I promise this is a good vibe post!) Our oven broke, then our truck crapped out, and then we had a catastrophic flood in our basement. BUT! Man do I have some AWESOME people in my life. DH knows that between work, school and pregnancy, I'm a little at capacity for stress. He has taken the lead on EVERYTHING, and has just been the biggest ray of sunshine through these challenges. He has already fixed the oven, the part to fix our truck should be here today and he is fixing that too, and has done literally all the work in negotiating with the insurance company. On top of that, my MIL and FIL are truly kind and generous people. When they heard about the flooding, they immediately hopped in the truck and came to our house to do everything they could to help. They've dealt with a similar situation before, so they helped DH through all the steps in working with the insurance company. Finally, my Grandmother (who has been out west since November) is back in town. She is a kind and wonderful person, who may be more excited about this pregnancy than anyone haha. Having her positivity around is such a great feeling. We spent last night catching up, showing her ultrasound pics of the baby, and eating lots of delicious gumbo. I think it goes to show that even though we all face challenges, if you have the right people around you, even a crappy week can turn into a great one:)
I passed my Glucose Test on Thursday!!! So happy for that! The sun has been shining bright here for the past few days, and I'm soaking up as much vitamin D as I can!
A week of 75* weather! I hate "winter" (we don't get real winter here) so it's been absolutely fabulous to get some warmer temps and sunshine for a bit.
Even though the freaking polar vortex is coming our way today and tomorrow, it's going to be in the 50s this weekend. I plan on getting DD out and going on walks and enjoying the weather!
I love this thread! After a harrowing 2nd trimester I am officially in the 3rd trimester and feeling all kinds of emotional about it. Mostly I'm just happy to finally feel hopeful again. Also I'm baking brownies
