January Symptoms - Cramps, etc

Re: January Symptoms - Cramps, etc

  • @mshrades Oof, that sounds awful.  I'm glad the meds are working for you and you don't have to get the IV!  This part is so hard  :'(  Hope you feel better soon!
@kagesstarshroom I followed your advice and didn't google, but any sort of mouth problem sounds extra brutal right now.  As if you didn't have enough things to worry about!
@jeepwave good for you for keeping up the workouts!  I had to sit down on the curb when I was walking my dog this morning, so going for a run makes you a superhero IMO!  Also, never underestimate the power of peanut butter.

AFM, the unisom/b6 is helping so I feel moderately human today.  My goal is to eat at least one vegetable, lol!
  • *TW* spotting, cramps, past MC

Trying not to freak out, but I've been having dull cramps for the past two days. Starting early last night, I had some brownish spotting after wiping pretty much every time I peed. Today, the cramps have started to become sharp and occur every hour or so and there was a spot of red blood on my underwear when I got home from work. I called my OB office and the NP set me up to go in tomorrow morning. She said they won't do an ultrasound because I'm still early (5+3), but they will do another beta and an exam. Does anyone know what an exam will entail? I know we won't be able to hear a heartbeat with u/s yet, but can't they at least check for the gestational sac? I'm so worried and all I can think about is when I lost my happy accident baby.

  • @themadcamel first of all, hugs to you because I know exactly how stressful this void of the unknown is! I'm not entirely sure what the exam will entail, but I would think they will feel around for any abdominal pain indicating a cyst. I was having some pain and it turns out I have a cyst on my right ovary that was linked to some cramping I had. I also have had quite a bit of bleeding (dark red, bright red, brown spotting all at different times) and that turned out to be due to low progesterone so they got me on a supplement and I haven't had any spotting or bleeding since *knocks on wood*. I would definitely make sure they check your progesterone in case it is low. I am thinking of you and hoping all is well!

  • @zuuls_mom thank you. Good suggestion about the progesterone, I'll make sure to ask her. That cyst and the bleeding you had must have been so stressful. It's so crazy to think that there's something so important inside of me but I can't see it or even be sure everything is fine until so far into the pregnancy.
  • @themadcamel yes, indeed! This whole journey has been a haze of stress and anxiety mixed in with a lot of excitement. All we can do is have faith that things will work out and remain hopeful. It's so hard not to be able to see and "know" that everything is ok. I don't know if that feeling ever really goes away until they are in your arms though. And even then! Motherhood (and the journey to it) is not for the weak. And we are strong!!  <3

  • @themadcamel Just sending you some love. Hoping you get some answers tomorrow. Just remember tonight you don't know for sure so it could be a cyst or anything.
  • @themadcamel just firstly: love and hugs and peace and everything good you need to feel better than bad right now despite all the obvs "ahhh!". secondly, my #s weren't great when they did my 2nd betas, so they did a tv u/s on me at like 5w some days--but it wasn't super useful bc they could just see *something* & they can't tell anything until they do another one a week later to compare? so what z said above makes sense to me--if they check yr #s & do a pelvic exam, they have the opportunity diagnose something more specific maybe & *then* decide if/when they want to do the u/s (& then... the waiting...) (I also think that u/s techs aren't always available at certain ob's offices like at all times? i feel like some place's u/s techs have limited schedules bc of the equipment maybe? so maybe that's [also] why they are doing what they are doing first?) this reply contains a lot of maybes & musings, i know, i know.
  • @themadcamel Sending you lots of love and positive vibes for tomorrow. Try not to worry too much until then.  <3
  • @themadcamel Thinking of you and wishing the best for tomorrow!
  • Cramping is definitely normal for pregnancy! There is stretching and moving as the uterus and baby grow. Things are changing down there! I have sound myself to be SO tired. Laying down at quiet time and early bed time are musts for me!
  • @zuuls_mom amen, sister!
@janat1717 @kgg2241 @klpv415 <3 thank you ladies. I’ll update tomorrow. Going to try to get some sleep tonight.
@kagesstarshroom maybes and musings are A-okay. I appreciate your insight regarding the u/s and for sharing your experience. Did you get good news or are you still waiting for more tests? Positive thoughts your way!
@TeacherMama7 the exhaustion is definitely next level! Glad you’ve been able to get to bed early
  • @themadcamel So sorry to hear you're going through all this. That must be very scary. Please update us when you can. Sending positive vibes your way!

  • @themadcamel hope you get some sleep and all the best for the appointment - thinking of you and sending positive thoughts your direction!
  • @madcamel

my thoughts and prayers are with you! I have had friends who have had bleeding during the first trimester, so while it is scary, it doesn’t necessarily mean a Mc. I did have two miscarriages, and when I went to the doctor for the first one they did to a little ultrasound to see what they could see. My midwife was very positive and just said she was pretending like it was an investigation and was going to get all the details she could gather to figure the mystery out. For some reason, pretending it was an investigation made me feel better because it took it away from my personal tragedy and framed it a different way. She was still open ended when I left, and we made another appointment to come back in a few days. Within that time, I miscarried. However, I know of a LOT of people who have had some scary bleeding and baby turned out to be just fine! I feel bad telling you my story, but since you were wondering what your appointment could be like, just wanted to let you know how mine was. Let me know if you need any support or encouragement after your appointment. I am praying for you and your sweet little baby!
  • Thinking of you this morning @themadcamel. I’m keeping everything I’ve got crossed for good news for you! ❤️
  • Adding my own thoughts and wishes for you, @themadcamel!
  • @themadcamel I hope that your appointment goes very well today! I'm so sorry you are experiencing this stress. Hoping for the very best outcome for you!

  • @themadcamel fingers crossed for your appointment today. I missed this thread - so sorry for my late response.  I had a scan and check at 5 weeks 2 days. The scan was helpful because he wanted to rule out an ectopic- we saw a gestational sac and yolk all in the right place. He also scanned my ovaries and it turned out the pain was from a cyst. The check was more to figure out where the pain was coming from (he applied pressure and asked if I felt pain).

FWIW, I bled through out the first tri with my second son (he’s 13 months now) so I know it’s scary but lots of women experience bleeds for various reasons and baby is a-ok. Sending lots of positivity your way today.

  • *TW* Just started bleeding last night/this morning. I'm going in to get my betas checked, but I'm not super hopeful. Feels exactly like my period starting.
  • @marebear15 I hope that is not the case! Good luck with your appointment, hope all is well!

  • @marebear15 Praying! I know it doesn't help how you're feeling, but this was me a week ago. Cramping, bleeding just like how my period always starts, then luckily I got my betas checked and all was well and the bleeding went away after 3-4 days. FX that everything is fine!
  • I'm so sorry so many of us are in limbo and having stressful times right. Hugs ladies
  • @marebear15 I'll be thinking good thoughts for you today. I sincerely hope this is just a scare and you get good news.

  • p.s. yall it was not thrush bc it went away overnight! it was... i guess some terrible burny/white-mouthy reaction to something in the cuke salad. DH is convinced it was bc i left the skin on the cucumbers.
  • @marebear15 sending love and positive vibes your way!!

@themadcamel I'm glad your appointment went well and they were able to do an ultrasound to let you see what's there!
  • @marebear15 Im so sorry! I will be praying for you tonight!
  • Symptoms are hitting hard now. My sense of smell is definitely elevated. I could barely stand to be around my dog last night. He smelled soooo bad. Hopefully this goes away soon and we can get back to puppy cuddles.

@kagesstarshroom That actually totally makes sense! I'm really sensitive to cucumbers and have a similar reaction to what you described. They have to be washed super well and must be peeled to not upset me. I'm also like that with watermelon and cantaloupe. I'm glad it wasn't thrush though!
  • @kgg2241 I totally relate to you re. the dog smell! I haven’t had much nausea at all yet, but I was cuddling my pup the other day and almost gagged. Those poor puppers!
  • @themadcamel Right! I'm like, wait, have you always smelled this bad!?
  • I think morning sickness has started over here. And I have a phobia of throwing up (not just that I don't like it, but a legitimate phobia) so I've been having anxiety attacks which is only making me feel more sick. I'll be 6 weeks on Monday and dreading how much longer I'll probably have to deal with this.

  • @kgg2241 My coworker smelled so bad yesterday - I legit almost gagged. Not quite the same as a smelly dog because I can leave work, but I feel you! Urgggghh.

@aliciac2008 My love tit is to send you some support.
  • @aliciac2008So sorry about the vomiting/phobia! I can kind of relate? I don't have a legit phobia BUT--I haven't thrown up in over 20 years, so I am totally scared to. 6w5d today and so far so good, though. My doctor, though, when I told her this was like "well, I am sorry," implying that it wouldn't be long before my killer streak was broken...
  • @marebear15 I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! I had bleeding my first, second and third trimester last time and now have a happy, healthy 18 month old. It was terrifying every single time but just wanted to share an experience with a positive outcome.

@aliciac2008 ugh, that sound horrible, I'm sorry! Have you tried the typical anti nausea stuff? Gingerale has been my friend and constant companion....
  • Thanks everyone. Luckily I feel pretty okay during the day so it gives me a chance to get a square meal in and take my prenatal. Evenings are another story though. I have some ginger beer (no alcohol) made with real ginger that I was saving for when things got bad, so maybe it's time to bust those out. I might look into seabands, preggie pops, ginger tea, etc. here soon. I have an appointment with my doctor on February 6th and I'm not going to leave the office until they prescribe me some medicine. I had them do that when I was pregnant with my first and I never had to take it. The reassurance that it was there was enough to calm my anxiety and make me functioning.

@kagesstarshroom I never threw up with my first even though I was scared to death of it. Maybe we'll both luck out!
