How are you feeling?: this new dizziness symptom is not great. It started yesterday and has been pretty annoying because every task is a mission.
Rants/Raves: I am so ready to go home. 3 days to go. I just want to eat normal food and sit on my couch. I feel like I barely eat here because I hate eating out.
Questions:
GTKY: Where in the world are you from/do you live? What is your favourite part about where you live?
I am from Toronto but currently living in Amsterdam. My favourite thing about Amsterdam is the lifestyle. Everyone values spending time with each other and they have an amazing work life balance. It’s so nice to see and live in a country like that. My favourite thing about Toronto is food! the food there is unparalleled and something I miss the most.
Finally got my EDD last week, and looks like I was right not to trust my LMP as it puts here instead of group 3.
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 8+1
Baby is the size of a(n): paperclip
Upcoming Appointments: just had one last week, next one isn't until February
How are you feeling?: Tired, perpetualy tired.
Rants/Raves:
Questions:
GTKY: Where in the world are you from/do you live? What is your favourite part about where you live? From Pennsylvania, USA now live in Maryland, USA. Both states I live(d) in suburbia, I love how it's always quiet and green, and everyone is friendly, but if you want some bustle a city is just a short car ride away.
How are you feeling?: Nauseous. Some days are better than others. Also, I’m finding that I’m getting annoyed by things very easily.
Rants/Raves: I’m craving buffalo chicken dip like crazy. When I went to the store on Friday, they were sold out of a bunch of the ingredients I use to make it. People had cleared the shelves because we were getting some snow. I hate that people around here act like a couple inches of snow is an apocalypse. Since then I’ve been too nauseous to go to the store. So I’m just generally annoyed with everyone. Lol.
GTKY: Where in the world are you from/do you live? What is your favourite part about where you live?
Grew up in Canada, living in the Midwest now. We have a ton of roundabouts around where we live, and I like that traffic flows really well. It makes it really easy to get everywhere.
Upcoming Appointments: I will have my first US next week!
How are you feeling?: Meh. Exhausted and nauseous.
Rants/Raves:
Questions:
GTKY: Where in the world are you from/do you live? What is your favourite part about where you live? I grew up in Connecticut and I live in Maine now. I love that there are so many things to do outdoors all year round here.
So many people had appointments last week. How did they go?
@Amdogger82, me too! Though I’m only home for 3 days and then off to South Africa for 1 week. I’m hoping that trip will be easier because sun and better food.
@AKuzReve The dizziness sounds awful! Does it keep you from driving/working? Also, Amsterdam sounds amazing. I wish people in the US valued spending more time together! Are you going back to Toronto in three days, or are you on vacation or something at the moment?
@mrosek91 My LMP date was the same way. Also... a paperclip seems so substantial right now!
@aecm People are absolutely crazy when it comes to snow. And why is it always milk and bread that people have to stock up on? I'll never understand this. Completely agree on your point about roundabouts. We don't have many where we live, but we went to Ireland a few years ago (they're everywhere there!) and were instantly wishing we could replace our city intersections with them!
@Amdogger82 Fx for a smooth US next week! Hopefully that grainy little nugget of joy will be perfect
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: August 29 / 7+4
Baby is the size of a(n): Jellybean
Upcoming Appointments: Second US with RE at 9+0 on Jan. 24
How are you feeling?: Ok! Nausea is settling a little bit the past few days. Week 6 was rough. Mainly just tired now.
Rants/Raves: My MIL is driving us nuts about telling people, specifically her mom (who she can't even stand) and DH's other grandmother. It's not that we don't want to share this with them, we just live in a small town and neither one of them can keep a secret to save their lives. She just keeps saying, "I think the great grandparents deserve to know, " or, "It's just kind of cruel that you would share this with [Name] and [Name] (our two very closest friends) without sharing this with your grandmothers." We'll tell them eventually... right before we're ready to tell everyone else.
Questions: Is meat aversion hitting anyone else? It's been almost three weeks since I've been able to stomach it! Currently living on fruit, peanut butter and carbs...
GTKY: Where in the world are you from/do you live? What is your favourite part about where you live? I live in the Southern United States. The people here are [for the most part] great and our winters are short, which is great for someone like me who's shivering if it's below 70 degrees (F), lol.
@oklahomak - Yes, I can never stomach meat in the first tri, ever.
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 7w + 2d
Baby is the size of a(n): Blueberry
Upcoming Appointments: January 29 for another u/s
How are you feeling?: Right this very second, pretty gross and sick to my stomach. Overall, it hasn't bee terrible yet.
Rants/Raves: People in general. This is my third, so anytime I've had to disclose my pregnancy at this point, I'm just super annoyed by any and all questions. For example, the chiropractor was asking how my provider felt about VBACs. Excuse me lady, how about asking how I personally feel about VBACs??! (Note - I'm super pro-VBAC for everyone and I try to steer people away from c-sections when possible, but that's not MY personal reality for a whole host of reasons that I don't need to get into with the chiropractor I spend 5 minutes with weekly, you know?!).
Questions: Is anyone on anti-nausea meds? I took Diclegis last time and it was helpful-ish, but this time it makes me feel like a zombie. What gives?
GTKY: Where in the world are you from/do you live? What is your favourite part about where you live? My avatar might give me away, but I live in the South. I love it, it's amazing, I'm never leaving (which I did for college and the first 8 years of my adult life).
@oklahomak, I am currently in China and heading back to Amsterdam in 3 days. I’m living in Amsterdam for a few years for now. I don’t drive but it does slow down my process of trying to get places. 2 days in a row I had to lay down immediately after doing any task. I think it actually is because I have low blood pressure, which is even lower in 1st tri and I hadn’t had much salty food in a few days. It wasn’t too bad today but still occurring.
meat aversion is so real. I can eat it in something, which is weird but the thought of eating like steak or meat or whatever bare grosses me out. In a sandwich though, like a burger, and I’m perfectly fine. Pregnancy is weird AF.
Baby is the size of a(n): uncooked piece of macaroni
Upcoming Appointments: Thurs 1/17, I have an US and first appt with my OB. Not sure what to expect - I was told the appt would be short and we would schedule our next appt before we leave (but wasn’t told when the next one would be. 12 weeks?)
How are you feeling?: Still good! Thankful for very few symptoms, since I can still function normally and my work isn’t affected. But it’s hard to feel like this is really real (even though we’ve had 2 US’s already)! Maybe once I start to get a bump and/or we can hear the heartbeat.
Rants/Raves: Snow day today! Hoping for another one tomorrow but the roads seem clear. I work in a big county and if the busses can’t get to all the routes, we stay closed (which is great for me!). Looking forward to our appt on Thurs and finally sharing the news with more people in the week or so after that.
Questions: Is anyone planning to do the NIPT? Is it standard with your OB or did you have to request it? How did you go about finding out whether it is covered by insurance? I did some searching on my insurance’s website yesterday but couldn’t find anything. I’m guessing I need to get a procedure code from the company that runs the test?
GTKY: Where in the world are you from/do you live? What is your favourite part about where you live? From Maryland originally, currently live in Virginia. We love where we live because there’s plenty to do and we’re close to everything we need, but it’s not nearly as busy as if we lived closer to the city. Just the right amount!
How are you feeling?: nauseated, can't really eat much of anything, sore breasts, so sleepy!!
Rants/Raves: I had my first US on Friday and heard my little nuggets heartbeat. I've never been more happy in my life!
Questions: Does this nausea EVER end? I miss eating.
GTKY: Where in the world are you from/do you live? What is your favourite part about where you live? I am from Ohio and I live about an hour outside of Columbus in Springfield. My favorite thing about where I live is that most of my family are right here and it's easy to see and spend time with everyone.
@dogmomma096, where in VA? My family lives there so I spent a lot of time in VA growing up (every summer for a month actually).
I am doing the NIPT. Not covered here and will cost almost €500 but I need to do it for the peace of mind. I just asked my midwives and they will do it at my next appointment on Jan 31.
@AKuzReve Northern VA, west of Fairfax. I will be asking my OB about the NIPT on Thurs (I can’t have it done for at least 2.5 more weeks anyway), but we definitely want it done and want to figure out what we might need to pay. Does your OB also do the NT scan? I won’t know what’s normal for my OB’s office until we go for our appointment.
@akuzreve I’m sorry you are dizzy,
is it any better today? I'm glad you get to go home soon, the traveling must be
torture.
@mrosek91 Are you an Eagles fan since you originally hale
from PA? If so, I'm sorry for your loss yesterday but also I confess I'm a
little happy as I'm a Pats fan with a lot of extended family who are Eagles
fans who have spent this past year very smug!
@aecm Do people in the Midwest know how to use
roundabouts? I often find people here in the south are confused by them because
they are so uncommon.
@amdogger82 Do you already have snow in Maine this time of
year? We used to visit Maine when I was a kid and I always thought it was so
pretty, all the rocky beaches.
@oklahomak Ugh, sorry you have an MIL who is such a busy
body! You'll tell who you tell when you're ready!
@peachy0709 People are just rude sometimes. So weird, I think
when women are pregnant people feel all the more entitled to insert themselves.
I don't have experience with Diclegis, I hope you get to feeling better. I have
noticed some days I am so tired it's hard to do much so maybe it's just
pregnancy fatigue?
@dogmomma096 Enjoy your snow day! We are planning to do
NIPT but I don't have experience requesting it yet. I am over 35 and my
understanding is that it is commonly suggested for AMA and also is usually
covered. We are going to do it regardless of whether it is covered though. I
haven't seen a regular OB yet. I do know my sister who is not AMA did it even
though it wasn't covered and I think it cost $300 but also did count towards
their deductible. That may vary of course. I think you should plan to bring it
up at your first appt this week and see what the OB says.
@leeleern80 I'm sorry you are so nauseous! I've heard it
usually gets better around 12 weeks or so for most folks.
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 8/29/19 / 7w4d today
Baby is the size of a(n): Blueberry-ish, maybe a large
blueberry at this point
Upcoming Appointments: We had a u/s this morning and baby
looked great! Today measured one day ahead and a strong HB of 164. We go in
again next week.
How are you feeling?: Symptoms come and go which freaked
me out as yesterday I was pretty energetic and not as nauseous. Nausea and
fatigue back again today. Usually my nausea is only afternoon/evening but had
some blech feeling this morning. It's manageable, I just find most food gross,
lol.
Rants/Raves: I feel so relieved to see that little
blueberry with its heart pumping away. I get so anxious the day before the u/s.
Questions:
GTKY: Where in the world are you from/do you live? What is
your favourite part about where you live? Born and raised in New England and
now I live in the southeast. It's really pretty here and the weather is pretty mild
but we do have four seasons.
@zamora_spin I'm glad you had a good US today! We do have snow--it's been a kind of weird winter though. We got a big storm the week before Thanksgiving and it's been fairly quite since then, nothing really even worth shoveling. Further north and in the mountains has gotten more snow too. We're supposed to get a bigger storm this weekend though, which I am kind of looking forward to!
@dogmomma096 i'm also getting the NIPT because I am AMA, but I'm not sure what the out of pocket cost will be yet. My ob does do it in conjunction with the NT scan, but I don't know if everyone does.
Had my confirmation ultrasound and the EDD was way off. I have pcos, so due to irregular cycles, we had no clue when the ovulation happened. We thought originally August 3rd, but U/S pushed us down to August 31st. Hopefully next week we aren't pushed further back into September.
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: August 31st, 7w2d
Baby is the size of a(n): blueberry
Upcoming Appointments: January 21st, for a follow up U/S.
How are you feeling?: Slightly nauseous, but very tired all the time and very... VERY moody. Also have crazy wild dreams every night, keeps waking me up and having trouble falling back asleep. Adding to my lack of sleep are the hot flashes... only between 4 and 5 am though. Anyone else suffering with sleep?
Rants/Raves: A week ago, we had the confirmation ultrasound and we were unable to pick up a heartbeat, but we did see little flutters. I hope next Monday we get to hear it.
Questions: I get laser hair removal due to my PCOS, anyone get it done during previous pregnancies?
GTKY: Where in the world are you from/do you live? What is your favourite part about where you live?
I live in Boynton Beach, Florida. 15 minute drive from the ocean. I love that everything is a short drive away. We have Downtown Fort Lauderdale within 40 min drive, Downtown Miami within an hour. Downtown West Palm Beach within 25 minutes. Unfortunately, OBGYN doesn't want me in Miami due to risk of Zika.
Est Due Date/ Weeks + Days: August 28th, 7 weeks 5 days
Baby is the size of a: Ear phone bud
Upcoming appointments: None until the end of January
How are you feeling?: I think tired is an understatement, and it isn't helpful that I have been having some crazy dreams! I usually hit a wall around 430 where I feel like I can't stay awake which is the worst because I work until 6.
Rants/ Raves: Finding childcare has made me want to pull my hair out! I know its EXTREMELY early to start worrying but infant spots are so hard to come by. The place where I work doesn't have availability until February of 2020!
Questions: None right now!
GTKY: Where in the world are you from? What is your favorite part of where you live?
I'm from a small town in Vermont, which consists of small towns anyways but I swear no more than 50 people live in my town.
Honestly, I'm not a snow person which is what Vermont is really known for (skiing, snowboarding etc.) but we are also known for Ben and Jerry's which is definitely my favorite thing about where I live.
@dogmomma096, I don’t think they do the NT scan here. Typical appointments are 10-12 weeks and 20 weeks. My midwife offers additional packages so we’re doing that and we get a bunch more u/s and stuff.
Also, ah! Yes spent lots of time in fairfax, Woodbridge, and Arlington. I do love VA.
@dogmomma096 I’m planning on trying the NIPT. I’m pretty sure it’s standard offering at my OBs office. I can’t remember how insurance handled it during my last pregnancy...sorry.
@zamora_spin I don’t think most people in the Midwest handle roundabouts well, but locals in my town handle them fine since there are SO many of them. Seriously, I think our mayor has a personal mission to eliminate all stop lights. It’s amazing.
Upcoming Appointments: Friday 1/18 (woohoo!) for my intake and first US
How are you feeling?: Excited to see the baby! Nauseous ALL THE TIME. Tired and lazy and like I just want to lay around 24/7.
Rants/Raves:
Questions: I'm a little nervous about my appointment on Friday as I still have no idea what to expect. I see everybody's posts here all the time and I don't know what half of what everybody else is talking about as far as testing or getting ready for the baby. We conceived naturally, so I'm thinking there is a learning curve, but I also want to be sure to feel prepared for appointments and for our LO once the time gets here.
GTKY: Where in the world are you from/do you live? What is your favourite part about where you live? Grew up in NY, lived in Tel Aviv for 3 years, and currently live in Brooklyn. I love living here; the diversity, amazing food options, and culture are the best of the best. Also, Brooklyn is super cute with her cobblestone streets, mom-and-pops, and beautiful brownstone and tree-lined streets.
@laurenmicheley don't worry. We conceived our first within a month of trying (which was also within a month of our wedding!). Talk about unprepared.
A good OB is ready for parents with all levels of knowledge. In fact they're probably happier if you don't come in with a ton of info from Dr. Google. I remember one of the first things my OB told us is never trust the internet.
Pregnancy is a beautiful and natural thing, and in general your body knows what it's doing. Everything should go smoothly, and your doctor will walk you through any hiccups. They are very good at explaining what is happening and what all the options are.
Baby is the size of a(n): raspberry, weight of a paperclip!
Upcoming Appointments: Jan.21
How are you feeling?: So neausous
Rants/Raves: just how neasunea I am.
Questions: how to get I'd of neasea.
GTKY: Where in the world are you from/do you live? What is your favourite part about where you live? I'm from southern California. Love how close I am to the beach, the mountains, and LA. great weather.
Hi team! I had my 1st US on Friday and my LO is measuring 7w 1d as of then, so I'm going to be dropping off this BMB and moving to Sept 2019! I wish you all a lot of luck and good health during the next 7 months!
Rants/Raves: I'm not enjoying the morning sickness all morning then exhaustion all afternoon. Really hoping the MS subsides in a couple of weeks
Questions:
GTKY: Where in the world are you from/do you live? What is your favourite part about where you live? I'm also in VA. Love that there's so much culture here and flights to anywhere. The world is at our fingertips
Re: Group 4 Check In (Aug 24-31) - W/O 01/13

@dogmomma096 i'm also getting the NIPT because I am AMA, but I'm not sure what the out of pocket cost will be yet. My ob does do it in conjunction with the NT scan, but I don't know if everyone does.

Also, ah! Yes spent lots of time in fairfax, Woodbridge, and Arlington. I do love VA.

@zamora_spin I don’t think most people in the Midwest handle roundabouts well, but locals in my town handle them fine since there are SO many of them. Seriously, I think our mayor has a personal mission to eliminate all stop lights. It’s amazing.
Baby is the size of a(n): Uncooked macaroni
