  • Due date: 4/1 yay 3rd trimester!

Any appointments? Questions?  Fetal echocardiogram tomorrow, then OB and MFM on Monday

    Rants/Raves? 11 weeks to go!

How are you feeling? Tired, out of breath, but otherwise good.

GTKY: What features, physical or personality, do you hope baby will inherit from you? From SO?  From me: my smile/teeth, my coloring, general facial features.  From DH: his hair (thickness), height, and his smarts!

  • Daughter due 4.2

Any appointments? Just had a 28 week appointment that went well. Next one in a couple weeks.

    Questions? No

    Rants/Raves? I bought a brace for CT. It's great.

    How are you feeling? Good.

GTKY: What features, physical or personality, do you hope baby will inherit from you? From SO?

From me: curly hair & maybe eye color, organizing things for fun, and a preference for outdoor activities.

From SO: the laid back personality, heavy sleep habits, and a logical rather than emotional thinker. Also, his mom says he was a very obedient child so if she could be like him in that regard, that would be great.

Storytime: DH thinks I've gained muscle mass in the bum and finds it attractive.. It's definitely just excessive pregnancy fat but Okay. 😂 I won't correct him.

  • Due date: April 3

Any appointments? Questions?  Feedback from my GDS is that I’m anemic, so I need to get some iron supplements going here.  OB checkup is on Wednesday

Rants/Raves? Even though this is our first, DH and I are saving for a minivan because they are awesome and IDGAF about the weird stigma that is somehow associated with them. #minivansforlife

How are you feeling? Mostly fine. I think LO has been sitting very low and facing downward for the last week because I’m mostly feeling very internal kicks lately.

GTKY: What features, physical or personality, do you hope baby will inherit from you? From SO?

I hope she gets my hair and his eyes. I hope she gets our height (we’re both tall-ish - 5’8” and 6’1”). I hope she gets DH’s self discipline and my sense of humour.

  • @suchagoodone Do you have an dietary restrictions by choice or otherwise? Because I would totally jump on the opportunity to tell DH doctor says we need to eat more steak! :-D
Also, I drive a minivan and I love it.
  • @mighty_montgomery DH is a recovering vegan and only eats extremely over cooked plain chicken breast or salmon. We generally don’t eat the same things (for example, I like delicious food and he likes gross food), but now that you mention it, I’ve gotten in the habit of not buying red meat, so I do believe steaks and stir-fries are coming home with me next grocery trip!
  • Due date: 4/7

Any appointments? Questions? Routine Prenatal today! Starts my every 2 week visits, eek!

Rants/Raves? Stupid antibiotics for sinus infection gave me a yeast infection. Damn you universe!

How are you feeling? Pretty meh. Hoping after I’m over these little issues I feel better for these last few weeks of pregnancy.

GTKY: What features, physical or personality, do you hope baby will inherit from you? From SO? I honestly hope baby is a spitting image of his daddy. I think he’s pretty handsome. We can already tell pretty well from his ultrasound he’s got Daddy’s nose. I hope he gets a mix of our personalities. Level headed like me but, outgoing like his Dad.

  • @kashley1227 oh man yeast infections are the worst.  Your doctor can give you a prescription ointment, it works better than Monistat IMO.

    @suchagoodone all the steaks!

@mighty_montgomery I'm hoping this baby is obedient as well, a mom can dream right?

    Due date: 4/5

Any appointments? Questions? Appt is next week

Rants/Raves? This is a combined rant/rave.  I'm super excited that someone offered to throw me a baby sprinkle.  Bad news is that it's March 16 and at my house but good news is that my husband agreed I can hire a maid service to deep clean the day before.  I'm glad knowing the house will have had a good scrub down before baby arrives. I'm just nervous about the party being so close to the due date but it's just how schedules worked out. I didn't think I was going to have one at all so I'm glad this baby will be celebrated.

How are you feeling? Tired and large.

GTKY: What features, physical or personality, do you hope baby will inherit from you? From SO? My DD is my DH clone so I hope this baby looks like me. But I hope he gets his dad's math skills, I don't want my kids to struggle in that subject like I did.

  • @gollygeeitsamy I feel the same way about wanting my child to be good at math! DH is really great at math and I've always struggled with it. Since our plan is for me to homeschool, can all our children have his math skills please? 😅

    Due date: 4/2

Any appointments? Questions? Shots. Also a regular ob appt.

Rants/Raves? The ob appts seem so pointless. I can’t tell if it’s this practice just not having designated times to sit down and bring up certain topics (delivery options, etc), if they’re waiting for me to ask, or if I’m just progressing so normally that they’re not worried. But if I’m going to be there for an hour, I want more than 10 min of facetime.

How are you feeling? Severe back pain has returned 😭 otherwise, just a little bulky - and therefore fitting weird in my clothes. Maternity pants continue to not stay up...will they ever?

GTKY: What features, physical or personality, do you hope baby will inherit from you? From SO?

I have NO idea, and I’ve been thinking about this for two days. We talk a lot about wanting a tribe of gingers, and while DD has reddish hair (a light copper, we think...it needs to grow more for us to be sure), DH wants a kid with his undeniably bright red. I just want it to be less coarse than his. I guess I also want the kids to have my better ability to focus and respect social norms (DH’s entire family doesn’t much care for being on time, DH doesn’t care about whether his clothes are appropriate, DH question(ed/s) school authority entirely too much), while also having DH’s incredible ability to connect with anyone and off-the-cuff public speaking skills. I think we also want the balding patterns to come from my side, and perfect/hard teeth to come from his.

@aqualicious how did the echo go? Why are you getting it again?

@mighty_montgomery given the amount I’ve spent on ankle braces to only wear them for a week or two, I think 11-12 weeks out of a wrist brace is a great investment. Hope it helps!

@suchagoodone hahaha to “recovering vegan” and “for example, I like delicious food and he likes gross food.” Does he not even like to season things with herbs and spices?

@kyashley1227 I hate how some meds throw the whole system out of whack. Back to your balanced biome soon, I hope!

@gollygeeitsamy just think - your home may still be clean when you get home from the hospital! Yay!
  • @lyse01 Will you be having a shower for this one? Also, I've been wondering the same about my ob appointments. When I asked what would be done at the 28 week appointment, I was told it was just for tdap vaccine, to measure the fundal height, and record the fetal heart rate. They have my previous tdap vaccine (from June 2017) on record. When I asked why I needed it again so soon (CDC says every 10 years), she says they give it at every pregnancy regardless. Same protocol for complete STD & STI testing at the first prenatal appointment. Does your ob office do that too?

I also have a pretty solid birth plan but my doctor gave me a sheet on their standards and basically said "go home and read this then when you're ready you can give us your birth plan, but please don't get a template online and fill it out and hand that to us. Make it original." So I asked if I needed to type it up for them and she said "not necessarily" but didn't give me time to say that I already have a plan that I'm set on before she moved to the next topic and then the appointment was over. I feel like I'm expected to physically present a plan based on how that conversation went.

Any appointments? Questions? Had a chiropractor appointment.

Rants/Raves? The chiropractor appointment was pretty frustrating so I'm not going to go back.  I hate feeling like I'm being sold a used car.  Plus they make you pay up front and will refund you the extra if your insurance adjusts.  I'll believe it when I see it given how little the desk staff seemed to know about how insurance tends to work.

How are you feeling? Sore and I get worn out pretty fast.  This might be problematic since I'm starting a new job next week.

GTKY: What features, physical or personality, do you hope baby will inherit from you? From SO?

Hmm not sure on this.  I sorta hope this baby looks a bit like me our son looks just like SO.  Although if baby turns out to be a boy probably better for him to look like SO.

  • @lyse01 I could write a long pamphlet about his weird food habits, which I’ve generally given up trying to change. No spices, sometimes herbs, if they’re not too suspicious. Mostly I’m just like “give me all the buttery/sugary/processed/salty/spicy deliciousness you got!”
  • Due date: April 7

Any appointments? Questions? Just had my 28-week appointment today and had my blood drawn for glucose and checking for anemia...should get results tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Rants/Raves? My mom is planning my baby shower, and the guest list is over 50 people, over half of the people are definitely her friends. She called me today saying she has about a dozen more she wants to add. I'm like WTF? But hey, she's hosting. Guess there's no stopping her.

How are you feeling? Pretty alright, relieved that the glucose thing is over with. Getting more tired recently.

GTKY: What features, physical or personality, do you hope baby will inherit from you? From SO? I hope baby is patient like me, but assertive like my husband. Hope (s)he looks like my husband, since he's really handsome, but would definitely be happy if (s)he inherits my good hair. Also, would be great if (s)he inherits my husband's immune system instead of mine but...well...I don't know the likelihood of that.

  • @aggie0812 I hope for your sake that most of those 62+ guests look at/purchase gifts from your registry! Kudos to your mom for wanting to pull off a large event.

Our confirmed guest list for our shower is around 30, DH & I are partial hosts, and I'm already overwhelmed haha
  • @mighty_montgomery yes to the STD panel - which I think is a good idea to establish what everyone’s working with. No on TDAP, at least during today’s appointment. I did get it confirmed that I’ve got a yeast infection and told I’m low on iron, but not low enough for supplements, so I’m taking it as direction to stop at Five Guys for a burger on the way home. Plus a chocolate-peanut butter shake and large Cajun fries. Yum.

i asked whether we should be discussing anything else at this point in the pregnancy and the doc today said not really. “Plan for delivery is vaginal, right?” So I don’t know how much more they’ll ever get into that. I imagined they’d start discussing options around this point. I need to dig into my research again from last time and talk again with DH about birth planning.

as for the shower, I don’t know. I talked to my mom about throwing one in my hometown (fairly centrally located) but don’t want to bring up who would pay for it. And it occurred to me this week that anything outside of the town I (and ILs) live in now would virtually exclude MIL. FIL has not been in good shape mentally this week, and she can’t leave him hours away...and he’ll be highly confused if we bring him there. 😕
  • @mighty_montgomery @lyse01
Hey mamas, I hope you don't mind, I'm lurking from week 2's board! For the TDAP vaccine, the reason some moms are given it every pregnancy is because its often combined with the whooping cough vaccine. Where Whooping Cough is on the rise again in some areas, the rationale is that they want the fetus to have some exposure before being born so they're less vulnerable until they're able to receive the whooping cough vaccine! That's why you'll have to get it, but if your spouse / family members already have it, they don't need to get it again!
  • @lyse01 I LOVE five guys and their Cajun fries. I don’t usually get their shakes but I didn’t realize they had peanut butter chocolate. I’m going to have to check that out.
  • @lyse01 I just saw your tag, the echo went great.  Baby’s heart is perfect!  I had to have it because of gestational diabetes, and a history of heart disease in my family.  Doctor said they usually do another echo at 30 weeks, but since that is next week, it’s not necessary.  He said they’ll just do an echo of the baby’s heart once he’s born.
