I'm thankful that the my department in grad school doesn't require me to officially take maternity leave! I recently spoke with the administrative assistant who confirmed that I can just work out details with my advisor and no one else needs to know about it. This means I can keep receiving my full stipend while taking time off which is amazing. My husband has a promising job interview tomorrow but if he doesn't get this job then we'll REALLY need this meager stipend I'm getting so we can keep paying bills.
@bdesterhouse Thank goodness for cat videos! They are endless entertainment.
@bug_hunter That's great news! And good luck to your husband with his interview!
@maggiemadeit I LOVE sweet potatoes! What's your favorite way to prepare them or favorite dish that includes them? Sweet potato bisque may be one of my favorites though I have never tried to make it myself.
I'm thankful the nursery is finally starting to feel like a nursery! Sometimes I walk in there just to soak in the vibes.
Thankful for this little one cooking longer after a scare on Tuesday. Thankful for wonderful family and friends who helped us celebrate this lo on the 12th and completely spoiled us.
@maggiemadeit I'll second your thankfulness for sweet potatoes! I've been eating a lot of solo dinners and sweet potatoes and individually wrapped frozen salmon fillets have saved me from eating cheese and crackers for dinner so many nights... Perfect lazy food for when I have just enough energy to throw something in the oven but am still trying to eat healthy.
A day late, but I'm thankful for DD1. She turns three today and made me laugh as soon as she got out of bed this morning. The perfect way to start a Friday!
(I'm thankful for DD2, too, but it's not her birthday )
I always seem to be a day late in this. I'm thankful DS had a successful first attempt at mouth feeding yesterday (and bonus points it was at the breast).
I just realized how thankful I am that my area (northwestern US) has had a relatively easy winter so far. We got some light snow this morning and I realized that it would stink to deal with a normal amount of snow/ice while pregnant. We had a exceptionally bad winter last year, so I guess I'm really lucky!
@heytherefriend Me too! The Midwest hasn't really been hit like usual either. We are expecting some significant snow tonight and tomorrow but even then they are forecasting rain for next week. So much better than when I was pregnant with DD1 5 years ago when it was like a blizzard weekly! Glad I don't have to be 9 months pregnant, brushing a foot of snow off my car this time! (Well FX that doesn't happen)
@heytherefriend +1 to that! I'm in PNW and we had no snow this year so far, and the past 2 weeks were also dry! Plus it's relatively warm. So much easier than having to waddle on the ice!
I agree with being thankful for a typical pnw winter with no snow or ice!!
Can I add that I'm thankful to myself for getting good and easy food at the grocery store yesterday? And that my husband was on board with me hiring a cleaning lady starting a week from Sunday.
I’m thankful for DH. When the power went out last night in the storm, I got anxious. He got out of bed and went outside to get firewood and built me a fire at 1am. It didn’t fix the problem of course, but made me feel better and I love him for it.

I’m thankful that tomorrow is Friday!
I'm thankful for my hubby - I truly can’t imagine handling all the stress of parenting, or enjoying the high points as much.
