I work in the process group within a larger team at a major health insurance company. We say “process” but really we’re (internal) documentation and training with a tiny amount of process improvement thrown in. I either have way too much to do or nothing. (I don’t like my job if you couldn’t tell haha)
I work for a University doing research in Nanotechnology. I
have degrees in Physics and Biology. I would love to do more work with computer
programming (I did some while getting my physics degree) but I think MH would
kill me if I went back to school for a 3rd degree lol.

@galentine do you work at a public library or school/university library? I've heard some crazy stories about the things librariana have to deal with in public libraries!
@jennifer_louise, I work for a public library. I have definitely seen/heard some crazy things! Some highlights:
- just in general: the Google searches and browser history on our public computers is.... eye opening.
- one of the items we circulate is a "book bag" for kids, which includes a picture book and a beanie baby in an animal/character related to the story, packaged up together in a clear bag. The beanie babies sometimes come back to us in need of a good wash. A year or so ago, one of the beanie babies came back with bed bugs. GAHHHH. We had to do a massive deep clean of our book drop, materials, furniture, carpet, etc. It was horrifying. Ever since then, we hire a monthly service to come check for the presence bed bugs, and the service is a dog trained to sniff them out! I had no idea this was even a thing! It's very cool.
-one time a man dropped a bag of groceries in the drive-up book return (somehow mistaking the grocery bag as his bag of books to return....? I have no idea how he made this mistake). We, of course, threw the groceries out, since we could not identify where they came from, and since perishable food had been sitting in the outdoor book drop on a summer day for who knows how long. The man must have finally realized his mistake, because he came in three days later, demanding we return his groceries, specifically, a package of all natural beef hot dogs that were apparently very expensive. He was pissed we threw them out and filed an official complaint with our city council. We ended up reimbursing him for freaking hot dogs. It was ridiculous.
Office manager (ish) at a dealership. Nothing fancy here. Small town girl with a small town job 🤷♀️ I love it though so I suppose that's all that really matters right?
I am a consultant for a small city planning and urban design firm. We specialize in resort town planning (like Jackson Hole, Vail, etc.), so I get to travel to very beautiful places. I love what I do, but am ready to make a change.
@galentine Oh my gosh, that story about the hot dogs is too crazy. I worked for county government for a few years and that seriously brought back memories of the crazy things the public does.
I’m a Certified Surgical Technologist. For those who are unfamiliar with the career, I’m the person who sets up all the instruments for surgery, passes instruments to the surgeon, holds retractors, counts everything to make sure nothing is left inside the patient, and makes sure everyone follows sterile technique to make sure the patient does not get a surgical site infection. It’s a blast! I’ve done just about everything...cataracts, total knee replacement, heart surgeries (CABG), hysterectomies, appendectomies, toe amputations...
But now I specifically work in a birthing center. So my main job is to do the csections (planned, unplanned, urgent, true stat). When I’m not doing sections, I assist in vaginal births and circumcisions, take vitals on moms and babies, etc. I absolutely love my job. It is THE best. Sometimes it’s stressful and sometimes it’s sad, but for the most part it is so rewarding!
I'm an Associate Financial Advisor for a boutique firm. I'm basically just a glorified Executive Assistant though (which is what I did before I completed my licencing). My Dad is my boss so I just do all his dirty work.
I'm an Applications Engineer for a company that makes products for industrial customers. You can consider us like tech support, but starting last year I got into also writing some of our work instructions and manuals.
DH and I are both engineers so there's plenty of nerd in our house haha

Full time stay at home dog mom until May when I go back to my warehouse job where I take packages frozen fish and put it in coolers to ship all around the world. I also put labels on cans by hands and had to do 75K cans for a client and I almost quit because it kills the hands lol. Everyone’s jobs sound so much more interesting
I work part-time as a substitute teacher/paraprofessional in elementary and Pre-K. I have a Bible study group and training Tuesday and teacher for that on Wednesdays.
@sorarose No, I'm local government. MH works for the state and has been furloughed in the past, so I feel terrible for all the people not getting paid right now. It's not a good situation to be in.
I’m a Talent Management and Takwnt Acquisition Sr Analyst! This is the more interesting part of HR (although I always just tell people I’m in Talent Management since HR has such a bad rep).
I work as a Certified Medical Assistant at on OB/Gyn office.
However I would really like to get back into school for RN but I have also started looking into Surgical Technologist @daffodil_shoe how hard was it to go through the schooling?
@thatcma my school was really competitive, only accepting top 12 scores from the HESI. Only 8 of us graduated. It was a one year program so it was fast and super intense. I barely had time to work because school was basically a full time job. We had straight classes for the first 2.5 months, then 3 rounds of clinical with a class on top for the rest of the year. You don’t have to become certified, but you’re more likely to be hired as a CST vs just ST. And that exam was like 200+ difficult questions, but our instructor really prepped us for it.
I am a reliability engineering manager. Basically, break stuff (but in a much less exciting way than it sounds) and manage a team of lab technicians. I also do lots of statistics.
