Flu shot

Ok so I have a question for all of your pregnant mommas. This is not a provax or antivaxb thread this is simply me wondering if you choose to get a flu shot or not. I am a micro biologist and work in Pharmaceuticals and was just Curious how many of you chose to get the flu shot because you’re pregnant or if you usually get the flu shot or if you did not get the flu shot nor do you ever get the flu shot due to medical or personal reasons

Re: Flu shot

  • I never got it with DD but decided this year to get it. My twins are coming at 35 weeks and DD is in daycare so I felt it was best for all of us this year.

  • I started getting it every year after the previous place I worked required it (children's hospital).
  • We get it every year regardless.  We also did talk to most of our family about getting it this year because of newborn born at the tail end of flu season.  My FIL is an antivaxxer so other than him everyone understood or already got the flu shot every year so it was a non issue.  FIL is so against the flu shot, it's definitely one of his hills to die on so arguing with him on the topic is pointless and more frustrating than helpful.  He will unfortunately have to not be around baby a lot until it's older.  I guess it is what it is.
  • I always get a flu shot, have to for work. My MIL, FIL and SIL  while I don't think they are antivaxers have choose at this point not and have not gotten tdaps either (grrrr). They are special. I told them no shot no baby.
  • I work in a hospital so I always have to get it. I started making DH get it as well after we got married because he was a contractor that was always going into other people's homes. He has a different job now but we both still get it yearly.
  • I've gotten it ever since I started working in a library. So many people don't wash their hands regularly (or correctly). I've also had the flu twice, and I'd do anything to not have to have it again.
  • Never got it until last year when it didn't help and everyone got the flu :) and again this year because of the upcoming baby. Before those two times I didn't get it because I rarely got sick.
  • I always get it, and so does H. Worst case scenario it doesn't work, which is the same as not getting one except at least you got a $5 Target coupon!

  • I chose to do mine a little earlier than "flu season" because I had long flights to/from Australia. They also have an opposite flu season than we do.  Until this year I've never had one because i'm generally pretty healthy and have never had to worry about it. Also, we have the ongoing joke that my dad swears by getting the shot every year, and every year he still gets some weird strain of the flu.
  • Thank you lady’s for you input there are actually 2 disserent types of flu shots on protects against the comen flu and one protects against 7 different strains of the flu usually elderly and health professionals get the stronger one.
