Rants/Raves: I just ordered some cute prints for the nursery and I'm hoping my MiL (who LOVES to shop for baby stuff) will order the crib sheets I want so I can get the nursery DONE. I keep having dreams that I go into labor early and am not at all ready for that to happen, so FX this baby stays put and my dreams are completely off base!
Questions: Apparently since I'm AMA I have to have 2 more growth scans before my RCS. Has anyone else had this experience? Other than an ultrasound when they tried an ECV with DD1, I've never had an ultrasound this late in my pregnancy. Normal?
How are you feeling? Sleep is starting to be a bit of an issue. I'm falling asleep pretty quickly but tossing and turning because I can't get comfortable. And I still have heartburn (and nausea that stems from the hearburn). But really, in the grand scheme of things, I can't complain.
GTKY: It's getting closer...who do you plan to have at the hospital pre/post delivery? The H will be the only one there when I have my RCS, and then the girls will get to come and meet their sister (probably the next day). While we're had a lot of family move to the area since we started having kids, I'm just not comfortable having anyone else at the hospital, especially since I had a bad reaction to my spinal the last time and spent most of my hospital recovery time with DD2 throwing up. My brother-in-law and his wife are extremely understanding, my sister-in-law not so much. But too bad!
@dtspmama there is a lot of us in the high risk thread having late ultrasounds for a variety of reasons. My next one is on the 25th I believe.
Due date: 3/16
Rants/Raves: Heading to family's this week to be closer to the hospital until lo arrives. I am calling this both, because it is gracious of them to take us and our dogs for this time. Just stressful. Also, my bf is coming into town for a long weekend for the baby shower. I can't wait to see her!
Questions: none
GTKY: I really want it to be just dw. I mentioned this over the holidays to mil and sil who both had a slight freak out. My mom is also having a hard time with this as it's her first grandchild *tw my last loss I delivered him. My mom was there and not helpful at all. End tw* I did give dw the disclaimer that I have the right to change my mind, but I have wanted it as just us since we talked about having a lo.
@Kenneylynn3 hooray for best friends! I haven't seen mine in a couple of years and I miss her so terribly.
The delivery conversation can be so hard! My mom was present for all of my sister's labor and delivery and she really can't wrap her head around the fact that I don't want the same thing. It sounds like DW is supportive of your decision, and that's what counts!
@dtspmama I didn’t have any late US with DS, but he was a super uncomplicated pregnancy 🤷♀️
@kenneylynn3 my MiL dropped some hints about wanting to be in the delivery room and my sister allowed mom to be in there for part of her deliveries, but I just wasn’t comfortable with that. We didn’t really make a thing of it, just stayed very firm that only DH would be there for the delivery and everyone else could come see the baby once they were here. Can definitely be a difficult/awkward conversation though.
Due date: 3/12
Rants/Raves: Rave: I’m finally getting moving on the nursery! Picked some prints and a quilt on Etsy, hopefully will get them finalized and ordered this week! Also gave in (I can say no to my family & friends, but suck at saying no to my in-laws) to a sprinkle for baby girl. I really appreciate that people want to celebrate us, but am uncomfortable feeling like I’m asking people for gifts...
Rant: our office is supposedly re-open today after a 3 week renovation and my desk space isn’t wired (so I can’t set up my docking station), there’s no microwave in the break room and we now have an “open” office (aka rows of desks with no dividers...). If I wasn’t 31 weeks pregnant I would be aggressively job hunting...
Questions: nothing currently
How are you feeling: better some days than others, intermittent low back pain, hip pain, pelvic pain. But overall pretty good, if big.
GTKY: It's getting closer...who do you plan to have at the hospital pre/post delivery? Really just DH pre/during delivery, and DS at some point after to meet his new sister. Immediate family will be invited to meet baby at the hospital so long as they’re healthy!
Rants/Raves: Rant: it looks like there are no in-network providers for prenatal massage for my insurance, which is bullshit. 3 years ago it was a smaller network of clinics (they got bought recently by a larger network) and then I had no problems finding someone. I still had to pay $20 or $40 copay per visit, but it was way better than full price!
Questions: none
How are you feeling? Tired. Can't get some uninterrupted sleep for the life of me. This night I even got BH every time I woke up to change positions. I slept so much better when pregnant with DS1!
GTKY: It's getting closer...who do you plan to have at the hospital pre/post delivery? I have the opposite problem it seems. I want DH to be with me, but if all our plans for DS1's care fail through then he'll have to stay home. The best would be if the baby can hold until 39.5 weeks, then MIL is flying in and I can breathe easy. I'm also looking into a sibling doula to cover the time until then, on call, but the one I like so far only stays on call from 38 weeks onwards... That's currently my biggest worry.
@dtspmama no explanation aside from the lovely “it will improve collaboration” bs that organizations like to run... So far it’s just louder and no privacy. I will say the space is brighter because there aren’t cubes in front of the windows, though. (But I’m also a grumpy pregnant lady, so maybe it’s just me 😂)
@lelkcot Brighter is great, but I think all of that collaboration stuff is such a load of BS (unless you work at, like, facebook. Then I'm sure it's great! LOL). But you can basically always find me hiding in my office, so perhaps it's just me :-)
@dtspmama yep, couldn’t agree more! So far I think a lot of us just find it irritating. And I’m extra grumpy about it because I can’t even set up my desk because wires haven’t been run there yet. Plus, as an introvert, it’s so not in line with my personality!
@lelkcot They did that to us when we moved to our new work space 2 years ago. Not only do we not have our own space anymore, the walls are completely clear. We aren't allowed to hang anything up on the glass parts as well, so it drastically removed surface area for notes and things....i am super introverted. do not like.
@zionsmama85 I’d love for the people who hand down these decisions have to actually work in these style of offices for a month or two before they make the change for us!
@lelkcot I was in an open office until last April, when I moved to a different team and different building. It's a great setup for new hires or junior team members, as well as for those who like to socialize. But once I had DS it was hard to not feel judged when going to pump or to dr appointments, or when leaving at 5:30pm to pick him up from daycare. Maybe that's why I could only pump for 1 month after going back to work. Now I love the freedom of the office. Nobody cares if I'm not there at every minute, and most of my team has kids and values work-life balance.
Rant: Unfortunately, we have not gotten off to a good start in 2019. Like I told you gals last week, my grandmother passed away (thank you all again for your kind words and thoughts). Well, the next day, our upstairs neighbor overflowed their washing machine and flooded our kitchen. And then yesterday, my husband was in a car accident. Hubs is totally fine, but our car is currently not driveable. And this is all made worse by the sleep deprivation/derangement of flipping to night shift for the month. Sometimes when it rains, it pours
Questions:
None for me right now...
How are you feeling?
Overwhelmed. Think happy thoughts for me
GTKY: It's getting closer...who do you plan to have at the hospital pre/post delivery?
Just DH in the delivery room. There's no way we're going to keep our parents away from the hospital, so I'll allow short visits before things get going, and then they can come back once baby has arrived, after we've had some time with just the 3 of us I don't really want other visitors, but two of my very best friends work at the hospital that I'm delivering at (where I work as well), so if they wanted to stop by for a short visit, I would probably allow it. Everyone else can wait until we get home and settled.
@lucysmom2016 Hopefully that saying that bad things come in threes is true, and you're done for 2019. I'm so sorry you're having to go through all of this. Thinking of you!
@lucysmom2016 well hopefully that gets all of your bad events out of the way for 2019! Sorry you’ve had so much happen recently, sending lots of positive thoughts your way!
@lucysmom2016 sending lots of good thoughts your way. It really isn't fair when life throws so much at you all at once.
Due date: 3/10
Rants/Raves: I got hit with a stomach bug yesterday which is never fun. I left work around lunchtime yesterday and spent the rest of the afternoon/evening either sleeping or in the bathroom. Thankfully it passed pretty quickly and I feel back to normal today. I'm annoyed that I used 1.5 days of sick leave when I'm trying to save for maternity leave but what can you do?
Questions: none
How are you feeling? Pregnancy-wise, still pretty good. We got baby's room painted over my winter break and are ordering furniture soon, so that eases my worried about being ready.
GTKY: It's getting closer...who do you plan to have at the hospital pre/post delivery? For delivery, just DH. Last time my mom came to visit for a bit pre-delivery. My water had broken and I was having contractions but couldn't feel them so it was nice to have another person to chat and walk the halls with. We'll see how this delivery goes, but if I'm feeling good having other company was a nice distraction. Post-delivery will be just family. All of our friends have young kids now too, so we won't see them until we are at home.
I had one growth ultrasound with each of my previous pregnancies (normal uneventful pregnancies). This time I'm high risk becasue of twins and have had 3 growth u/s and have another scheduled for 35 weeks.
Due date: 3/12 with delivery by 2/26
Rants/Raves: I never know what to put in this section. I had a growth u/s yesterday. The babies are measuring around 3lb 11 oz and 3lb 15 oz. So I'm carrying 1 oz shy of my older daughters weight in babies and I'm only 31 and 2. Add in an extra placenta and fluid and I'm larger than I've ever been. My stomach is letting me know this by being SUPER itchy with new stretchmarks this week. 6.5 weeks to go or less.
Questions: None really.
How are you feeling? My low back pain is gone, my leg pain is better... and I found out yesterday that is because Baby A (who was head down and LOW in my pelvis) is now breech and Baby B is transverse. So Baby A better flip before they decide to make an entrance because I'm really hoping to avoid a c-section.
GTKY: It's getting closer...who do you plan to have at the hospital pre/post delivery? My husband. I'm freaking out about what we're going to do with the two older kids. We just moved here in July and still know virtually no one. My mom gets in 4 days after teh babies final eviction date.
@Pooka8 I'm with you on figuring out the logistics of care for DS. I mean, we have acquaintances, neighbors, and I have coworkers (DH is working remotely, so he doesn't), but I don't feel like asking any of them to be on call 24/7 for a few weeks! You need a closer relationship for that. I guess I'll have to put my greed aside and pay $1k for a sibling doula, and ask her to switch to a regular doula role in case we're lucky and baby stays put until my MIL is here at 39.5 weeks. It's funny because I started to worry about this scenario even before I got pregnant, and now that the due date is getting closer I still don't have a good solution for it.
