Re: January Randoms

  • So September 2019 is our official month we've decided to try for baby #2. I start my masters in 8 days and don't want to have to quit in the middle. It's a 2 year program so September would put me having #2 after I graduate. Now, if I don't pass my MAT to get into the program on Thursday, then we may just start trying next month 😂
  • Good luck on the exam!

  • Happy New Year to all Mama’s and babies!  I’ve missed you ladies and life seems to always be non-stop.  All three of mine are now on the 2nd round of illnesses and I have been sick over a week myself.  I need to sleep for at least a week because I’ve been pulling the all nighters.

Charlie is now 10 months, finally sitting up, pulling up, and crawling. This year is flying by and like always I’d like a reverse time machine!  Anyone with me?  I’m already starting to plan for the big 1.

What are you looking forward to in the new year?  Anyone set some goals?  After the past years coming and going without much direction I have set some for myself.  Care to share?
  • @mmom3We actually have a post on our goals! But I hope you all feel better soon. I'm also planning for his first birthday and it's terrifying!!
  • We are in size 4s but i bought overnight diapers in size 5 because he keeps peeing through them.
  • I can’t get Declan to drink enough lately. He is only taking 12-15 oz and a couple ounce of pedialyte in a day and will only drink out of sippy cups.

  • I cant wait til LO willingly takes a sippy cup.  Lol we try everyday and everytime its a battle and he will maybe drink an oz.

@megpeg maybe another tooth? LOs intake always drops when another tooth is coming.
  • @megpeg maybe try a different cup? If he takes the sippy cups I’d just do formula in that. Plus I’ve noticed Maeve prefers solids so I give water when she’s eating.
@sgrn18 I went down to the smaller bottles for water to let her get a feel for things - now she’s using a sippy cup with handles more regularly. She still won’t always hold her bigger bottle by herself.
We’re also in size four overnights - she’s doing ok so far. I think I changed her from the other sizes too soon.
  • @shoretobe I wondered if we went up to fast in sizes too. We've been in 4s for months now lol.  He does get the size 5 at night though not so much for the size just the capacity 😂

  • N is still in 3s (my tiny booty premie baby!) with no issues.

I agree with maybe trying different cups that he'll be more eager to drink from.  It's all such s balancing act!
  • @sgrn18 I’ve also noticed the boxes of diapers we buy come with less the bigger the size. Like I could buy a box of 130 size 3 but size 4 I can only find in like 56 count. Pampers, I don’t need less of a diaper stockpile just because she’s in a bigger size 😂😂
  • @shoretobe right? I bought a box of 216 of size 2s way back when. Now im lucky to see a box of more than 100 in size 4s.

We've tried 3 different sippy cups with spouts and he takes a drink and makes a face like i just kicked a puppy.  He does show interest in my cup but more to chew it than to drink.  He also hasnt figured out straws yet.
  • Charlie still in size 3’s for probably 5 months now.  It seems that is the size that lasted the longest with my kiddos.
  • I find Luvs in 125 packs (or somewhere close to that) at walmart! I typically just buy the 80 though.
  • @sgrn18 another tooth showed up today!
He loves this sippy cup and will hold it himself and won’t hold anything else.

we are still in 3’s. I think we will go up after this box but they fit pretty well.

  • @megpeg awesome! We have 7 working on 8 teeth now. Its obnoxious but presents the same way each time for us.

@mccurleya do you like Luvs? They are much more reasonably priced than Huggies.
  • Oh annd i got him to drink 4 oz out of a sippy cup today! Took 2 hours but he did it! He didnt hold it but a couple times though. Either way its a win in my book!
  • This is the cup we have been using.
He went back to drinking out of a bottle more today which stinks because he would actually hold the cup and won’t hold the bottle.

  • @mccurleya congratulations! Very exciting!!
  • @megpeg thats the one he drank from yesterday!!

    @mccurleya thats awesome!!
  • I was at the store today and forgot to look at those sippy cups 😑
  • @megpeg that’s the one we started with and use as well.  Charlie also likes the 360 cups as well.
  • I don’t know if it was the sun or going out of my house for the first time in almost a week(since we’ve all been sick) but I feel like myself today. We went shopping, out to lunch, more shopping, home for dinner and putting a new piece of storage furniture in my kitchen and Declan attempting to take a couple steps!
Here’s another part of why I have had a rough week this week and couldn’t sleep well- there was a boy from my hometown that was missing New Year’s Morning, he called 911 and talked a minute but his connection was lost and they couldn’t find him. I hardly slept that night constantly checking for updates with none to be found until 9am the next morning when they found his body, he had fallen through the ice. He was 2 miles from his car that was stuck in the mud. He was a nice kid. He was only 21 and a junior in college. I keep thinking of how I try to keep my kids away from everything bad but still inform them so they aren’t completely unaware of things so when they go into the world they don’t want to try all the taboo things but I already see in my 10 year old how much the outside world gets in even at parochial school. I know I can’t shield them forever but I wish I could. I cannot imagine having something like that happen as a mother.
Sorry that was so long but this has been on my heart all week and I can’t seem to shake it. Night all!

  • @megpeg I'm so sorry to hear about the boy. I can't imagine what his mother is going through. That is my biggest fear. I'll be praying for the family (and you).

But I'm glad you got to get out of the house and feel like yourself again!
  • @megpeg wow that is incredibly heartbreaking about that boy.  I dont know how I would cope with that as a mom.

Just seeing how often LO bumps his head or falls when im 2 feet away and cant stop it drives me insane idk how ill be when he starts wanting more freedom and i have to loosen my control.

    Hooray for feeling like yourself!

  • I am so sorry to hear about that boy, @megpeg
  • @sgrn18 Declan bumps his head a lot. Everyone else gasps and I am like that’s the 50th time today. But that’s part of him being a third time mom. You can’t catch them every time or they won’t  learn balance.

  • So i had Nexplanon implanted about 6 weeks pp. I had one period at about 10 weeks pp and didnt have another one after that.  The irregularity was expected though with the breastfeeding and birth control so I wasnt concerned.

Well fast forward to mid December and I get all my normal period symptoms and start a period. It stopped after about 7 days but came back a few days later and I've literally been going between spotting and bleeding since then.  I've heard some people respond to nexplanon like this with extending bleeding and random periods.

I think the MOST annoying part is that MH has been wanting some...uhh..attention lol and im just not someone who can have period sex.  I Finally decided enough was enough and called my ob/gyn and they got me an appointment for Wednesday.  Im hoping they just want to remove the implant but i think my body just doesnt like hormonal birth control.  Im also not a candidate for an IUD because of my bicornuate uterus so thats my only non hormonal option besides condoms.

Sorry for my vent im just annoyed with it all.
  • @sgrn18 sorry you're going through that! I hope they can fix it and make it better for you
  • Ugh, I can’t do hormonal birth control either.  I would bleed for three weeks and stop for a week and then back to it.  I said f that shit and use the rhythm method.  It’s worked for 16 years, but I really know my body.  It’s also not end of the world if I get pregnant, so a little pressure is off.  When I am done having babies I am definitely getting my tubes tied so that I don’t have to worry.  Good luck!
  • Ay carumba, @sgrn18 - I hope you get answers and a solution tomorrow!  That sounds like no fun!
  • @sgrn18 ugh that sounds terrible. I hope the doc helps tomorrow.

  • @megpeg - so heartbreaking to hear of that young man.

People say say it gets easier as they get older.  I say bigger kids bigger problems.  There’s so much beyond your control that you can’t save them or kiss away anymore.

@sgrn18 - hopefully you get some relief soon.  Hormonal birth control causes my arthritis to flare and to also have never ending periods as well.
  • I'm in a bad mood today (see sleep support thread) and totally just reported Mrs. Sellers as spam. hahaha prolly should have taken a nap when kiddo did this morning.
